Keep the streak alive Blashill, I know you can do this one!

Now now let’s not exaggerate. It’s only a few million. I have no evidence on my opinions of Blashill other than my experience with clueless bosses and he sounds like all of them morphed into a hockey coach. I hope he is not detrimental to the kids, but heck, most of them can’t get a spot on this bench anyway. FYI I find it depressing so few people are on here. It used to be a very crowded place. I suppose this marks most of you as true fans. I may complain, but I can’t let go. Even the Lions...

On a somewhat serious note on topic, I may not know anything, but I strongly suspect that Blashill and his lack of strategy or consistency is hurting the development of our younger players. With a few promising rookies possibly starting this year, my hopes are replaced by bitter cynicism that no matter how well they play, coach will screw it all up with mindless knee jerk line changes and more. I want to believe, but Blashill has certainly lost me. If you want to get a picture on how I see Blashill watch the old Bogart movie The Caine Mutiny. “Old yellow stain” is Blashill.

Awful. Remember when someone is drowning it isn’t like TV or the movies with thrashing around and yelling for help. It is often quite the opposite.

As a lad, my uncle Billy Bob used to tell me all sphincters heal in time. I think the only one that will end up in the rafters is Hank. Dats will be in the HOF, but not the roof. Federov's number would be nice to retire, but I just don't see him or Dats meeting the standard that's established there now with Yzerman and Lidstrom - skills, achievements, and leadership. I do think had Dats stayed out his contract, we might have a joint ceremony some day with both his and Hank's numbers going up. It would have been the perfect end to the twins (had someone played them together a bit more), but maybe I watch too many Spielberg movies.

I can add nothing to this, except I might talk to my doctor about taking antidepressants for next season...

I'm not arguing with your prediction, but how how how how how can this happen, especially Blashill? Can someone tell me another team in any pro sport that sticks with a loser like this?

With this win it is obvious the process worked after all. This team DOES have pride after all gosh darn it. All my doubting and criticism of Blashill was wrong. He showed me.

In his first move as Seattle GM hockey genius Ken Holland has made a bold move by bringing Dan Clearly out of retirement to lead the new team. Meanwhile Holland responded coyly when asked if he had been persuing talks with Mikael Samuelsson who is rumored to be interested in becoming the new teams slap shot accuracy coach. Said Holland whistfully, “Nobody could put the puck dead on the goalies jersey like Sammy.”

Ok it seems they won’t fire Blashill until this cluster%[#^ of a season is over, but how about a compromise. Let him keep his job, but shut him the heck up. No more post game interviews with his empty, meaningless, pathetic babbling, tired cliches and excuses. You owe us that much Ilitch family!

I hear you. Amen. I used to have so much pride and excitement in this team. Whenever I met hockey fans from other cities they would always speak highly of the Wings (even if they hated losing to them). I remember a guy from NY and avid Rangers fan telling me watching the wings and their awesome puck control was like watching a hockey video game. How cool is that? How about a power play that was at one time an almost sure goal? Or marveling at Datsyuk and Zetterberg and how they were picked so late in the draft... Or LIdstrom... sigh. I'm sure I'm not alone in all this, but I really don't know how to handle the current situation. Maybe I need to check out the five stages of grief - denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance? I think I'm at depression, but won't hit acceptance until we fire Blashill and Holland.

I didn't want to start a new thread, and this one seemed most relevant. I'm trying to check myself here in terms of bias, but I can't understand why Blashill still has a job. Seven straight losses plus everything else. How long can this go? Ten, fifteen? I find it hard to believe any other team would not have canned him by now. He can't possibly be our coach next year, can he? As for why or why not to can him now, I can guess many of the excuses (for example who would replace him), but at this point his failure seems clear and there seems to be nothing to lose. It seems likely Holland doesnt even have a plan for this (and that is troubling), but bumping up an assistant coach for the interim seems like a valid option. On the positive side, imagine this happened and suddenly the team started playing better - even a little. I think that is a real possibility. Despite all our issues with players I believe this coach is a train wreck and the major factor in our poor play and record. He is a pus filled cyst that has to be popped. Drain the cyst now Kenny!

I had my fair share of Holland frustration, but when faced with the reality of his leaving, I would be concerned that a replacement might not be an improvement. They would need to be really careful in who they hired. However, I have no such concerns about the coach!

Alas, I remember my former alter ego getting ripped a new one for referencing a questionable source on the "Swedish Mafia", but I can never tell - are you being witty/funny or do you really think Z has that kind of influence? Or both? My cynical side tells me Tatar is going to do well and we will see he was held back under Blashill. I still like the trade though.
