They absolutely SUCKED last night. Lombardi has ZERO help on his line. Kasper and Berggren look just OK, but not dynamic. The Ice Hogs got A LOT of lucky bounces last night, but the Griffons are as WEAK as the Red Wings. They're playing against a team that plays a lot like the Panthers/Hurricanes do. Tons of stick checking, clutching, and grabbing. Very little open ice to make good clean passes and tic tac toe style plays. The only team that's going to beat a team like Rockford is one that's willing to bang them until they're hurt, crash the net like crazy, and get all the dirty work done along the boards. And like the Red Wings, there are WAY too many forwards on the Griffons who aren't willing to do that. Won't be surprised to see the Griffins lose in 5 for this series. They'll squeak out one more win in a game where they get some ref help. But the Ice Hogs are built better for playoff hockey. Lots of grit on their team.

There's some truth to what you're saying. Super Stars tend to stink at the type of play you need in the playoffs (along the boards, behind the net, stick check mania, body to body, etc). Matthews is a guy that thrives IN SPACE. When he doesn't get it, he has nothing else to give the team. A guy like Marchand thrives in all environments. You can put him on any line in any role, and he's going to get work done out there. TO in 7 if they keep AM34 out.

100% agree on this. Fleury would be a good add for us at the deadline. I wouldn't mind giving up a 2nd and one of our 2nd tier defensemen prospects (Viro, An.Johansson, etc) to add him. Would be a great guy to have around advising Cossa as well. He's a pro's pro. I hate frenchies, but I've always like this cat.

I'd prefer we keep all our winners OFF the Detroit Red Wings. Much better if we play a bunch of LOSERS from other teams instead of our WINNERS that we're drafting.
