Im looking at this like this: SY offered 7.5 x 8.  Larkin's agent wants 9 x 8.  They will eventually settle on 8.25 x 8.  But SY will get the benefit of making sure Larkin doesnt have an injury through the end of the year that will impact his next season/career.  I think this is just good business by Stevie.

Yzermans original offer to Larkin was 8x8 it's now up to 8x8.5 per Darren Dreger So we shall see.

The dudes from the Winged Wheel Pod are reporting that Larkin's initial ask was 9.5-9.7 and Yzerman's initial offer was 8.4 million. There's no reason to think this thing doesn't get done at 9-9.1 million. Makes you wonder if this isn't all a big ploy to influence future negotiations. Like, if SY is willing to hardball his captain over 500K then if you're a young guy or a depth guy you're going to think twice about pushing too hard.

Anyway, take it for what it's worth. That podcast is rightfully criticized around here (and it should be) but they do seem pretty plugged into the organization. Not hard to imagine that they have a source.

That came from Darren Dreger who was on the Friedman Marek podcast, And Dreger was the one that mentioned that Yzerman opened up with a 8 x $8,000,000 offer to Dylan Larkin and Larkins camp came back at 8 x $9,500,000.

And they also mentioned that Yzerman is currently talking to Bertuzzi's agent on a new deal.

Vrana going full cokehead f u c k e d the Yzerplan up.  What a disaster.  If we could dump all our players and go expansion draft style in 2023, I would.

You can blame Kuznetsov for making Vrana a full blown crackhead from his days with the Capitals. I'm even surprised that Kuznetsov is still playing hockey.

    Biggest bust in franchise history

LOL You do understand that most Goalies don't even mature until thy're 23 years old. And Cossa is 20 now

Ryan Merkley has requested a trade out of SJ. 22 year old RHD drafted in the 1st round. Has played well in AHL but only 39 games in the NHL so far and didnt do much.

    Zadina for Merkley straight up?

I'd do that in a heartbeat, We need an upgrade on our RD.

Walstedt is in the AHL though

Wallstedt also played against men over in the SHL for a couple of seasons. So he had a head start against Cossa. And it's not like he's putting up spectacular number either.

    Total spending: $61.648056

Barely above the salary floor. SY has AGAIN put us in a position to spend roughly $20 million dollars on upgrades.  I suspect he will want to actually spend about $10 to $15 million. We won't need as much depth pieces with guys like Johansson, Cossa, Soderblom, and friends on the call up list. But we will need at least one solid LHD, and then with enough money left over we can probably nab a big impact piece at the forward position. With cap room to spare.

Bertuzzi isn't making no $8,000,000 per, Larkin will get about $9,000,000 per and Bertuzzi between $6,500,000 to $7,000,000 per.

If I were Yzerman, I'd be looking to trade Bertuzzi, Fabri, Chiarot, and Husso come February.

Yeah lets just trade players we recently signed, Not trading Husso. Cossa is still 3-4 years away from NHL ready. And Chiarot is better than what we had last year at LD. Fabbri after 3 torn ACLs has 0 value. Might as well just keep him on IR next 3 seasons. Outside of real money he's cost us nothing cap wise.

No Euro Captain ever won a Stanley Cup until...

    Who is Henrik Zetterberg.

not sure if ur serious, but it was Lidstrom, dude

Wrong dude, Lidstrom was never the Captain when the Wings won their 4 Stanley Cups. 3 cups were under Yzerman as Captain and the 4th cup was with Zetterberg as Captain. Look it up.

Big if true: I'm trying to find the tweet now to verify its authenticity but I'm told that Rogle's number one center is injured and on the shelf for the season. Could be a HUGE opportunity for both Neiderbach and Kasper.

    Edit:

Hopefully Kasper takes it and runs.

I would be happy with any of Cooley, Savoie, Lambert, or Geekie.

Trade up 5 spots and draft Logan Cooley, Or stay where we're at and draft one of Lambert, Nazar, Lekkerimaki, Geekie, Kasper. Or hope that Matt Savoie falls to 8th overall.
