I'm more looking at that 4 years. Piggy nose is the kinda player you want locked down on an 8 year. Auston likely limited the team to 4. That tells me he's basically giving the Leafs 4 more years to win a cup, and if they don't, he jets on the open market.
-
Ah yes, you overheard this when Khan was on the Tampa bench discussing with Bolts prospect Kevin Bicker?
-
He'll stay make more actual dollars than these guys, unless Lyon, Kasper, Eddogg, or Soderblom make the team straight out the gate and stay.
-
These players now have a higher NHL caphit than Veleno does: Alex Lyon Sebastian Cossa Eemil Viro Antti Tuomisto Simon Edvinsson William Wallinder Amadeus Lombardi Taro Hirose Cross Hanas Alexandre Doucet Elmer Soderblom Carter Mazur Nate Danielson Marco Kasper 14/19 of those players have never even set foot on NHL ice lmao I see waivers in Velenos future

I've told this story before on here, but I had the distinct pleasure of sharing a few beers with Mayday when I lived in Buffalo and he was doing color for the Sabres. It was in a scummy bar called Bada Bing. I was there with my GF at that time to have dinner and watch a UFC fight. Brad walks in alone and I instantly recognized him, so I yelled "Hey Mayday". The dude BEE LINED for our table and said "you know who I am?" I said of course and so he asked if he could sit with us and I of course obliged. He said he just came in to catch the UFC fight and talked about how much he loved UFC. We of course talked hockey a lil bit, and (I hope he wasnt just humoring me as a wings fan) but he swore up and down that Detroit was the classiest best organization he ever played for, from the top down. And he played for more than a few teams. I also remembering him saying Zberg may have been the coolest and classiest dude he ever played with. We didn't really go much deeper than that as I didn't wanna spoil the moment by superfan nerding out, and I knew he was there for UFC, so we mostly justed talked about that. Although there was one weird moment where he explained to me that that bar fight he got into in Arizona was not his fault and dont believe what the media printed about it. I had no idea what he was talking about and still dont lol and he just brought it up out of the blue umprompted. Cool dude. I believe him about Babs. Also he had hands like ******* anvils. I mean they were kodiak grizzly paws. Im of the opinion that Babs didn't stop Modano from hitting 1500 games to be a dick, but that he truly believed that he had a better chance of winning with Modano sitting. And he simply chose to win.

Brad May talks Babcock He goes on to tell a story about his time playing for Babs in Detroit. It was Maydays last year in the league, so he decided he wanted to bring his 13 year old son on the fathers trip instead of his dad, who had been there done that. 2 days before the trip he gets called into Bab's office and Babs says "I'm going over the manifest (because that's how detail oriented babs was brad explains) and I see your son is on it" Brad said he was thought he was about to get a hard no, but Babs tells him "I think that's awesome. How's he getting here? Do you need anything from us to get him here? Oh and tell your son to bring his hockey gear". Mayday says he responded "why his hockey gear? This is an NHL trip?" and Babs told him "Brad, you dont think he wants to practice morning skates with the Detroit Red Wings? You don't think he wants to play RW with Datsyuk and Zetterberg? Tell him to bring his hockey gear" He then goes on to explain that when his son showed he had locker waiting for him in the lockeroom with a #9 Wings jersey with his name on it in his size. And Babs went out of his way to arrange all that with 2 days notice. And he finishes the story by saying he knows teammates that didn't like Babs and say Babs is a bad person, but for everytime they something negative about him, he's going to tell this story about what he did for him and his son twice.

Not terrible, only about 825K and 1 year too much, but I can live with it now that Chiasson is off the market
-
Khan's article stated he was offered a 2-way contract. AKA go back to the Griffs little buddy, and you might get called up again if we sell again.
-
The guy that @Dabura and @kipwinger wanted on a 1-way deal to be the Wings PP specialist? Whoa, can't believe we lost him to a Bruins PTO. Guy must be taking less to win a cup. Guess we gotta sign Veleno now that Chiasson is done holding out. Oh well. Can't win em all.

His half season with Chiarot really killed his point totals this year. That's what these buffoons really care about, and that's why Mo didn't make the list. Had Mo stayed with Walman all season his pts per games played would have had him seated among the top 20-35 Dmen. Oh well. Thanks LOLonde. Lets look at his other stats though #32 in TOI per game #25 in PK time #11 in hits #5 in blocks #43 in shots I think he's going to crest 60 pts this year playing with a better overall team, and with Walman and Ghostbear as his partners.

When the 2023-24 season closes the NHL escrow is expected to be paid off and the salary cap is expected to significantly rise. Because of this it is expected that many pending UFA's will seek to hit the market and pursue the highest bidder for possible record contracts. We could see many players change teams. It will be a major summer for UFAs. Here are a few of the options that may be available (ranked in no particular order): 1. Matthews - the major UFA, who knows what he will do 2. Stamkos - 35 years old, but still putting up 80+ pts and has an obvious connection to Steve Yzerman, would he change teams? 3. Nylander - if Toronto is able to retain Matthews, this guy may certainly be available 4. Reinhart - 28 year old C/RW that can score 60-80 pts a season 5. Hellebyuck - Elite Detroit native goalie, Husso would only have 1 year left when we sign him 6. Guentzel - 29 year old winger who can score 70-80 pts a season 7. Teravainen - 29 year old winger who can score 60-80 pts a season 8. Skjei - 30 year old LHD who plays suberb defense and can put up 40 pts a season 9. Tarasenko - 32 year old RW that can score 70-80 pts a season 10. Hanafin - 27 year old LHD who can score 40+ pts a season 11. Lindholm - 29 year old center who can score 50-80 pts a season 12. Arvidsson - 31 year old RW who can put up 60+ pts a season 13. Devon Toews - 30 year old LHD that plays suberb D and can put 50+ pts a season 14. DeBrusk - 27 year old LW who can score 50+ pts a season 15. Zadorov - 30 year old punishing LHD, could be cheaper option 16. Grezlcyk - 30 year old LHD that plays suberb defense 17. Montour - 30 year old RHD who can put up 60+ pts 18. Duchene - 33 year old center who can put up 60-80 pts 19. Wheeler - 38 year old RW who can put up 50+ pts 20. Stephenson - 30 year old center who put up 60+ pts 21. Lybushkin - 30 year old RHD that plays suberb defense 22. Girgensons - 31 year old tough defensive center 23. Francouz - 33 year old great backup goalie Next offseason we are likely to lose RW Perron, RW Sprong, RW Fischer, C Veleno, LHD Ghostbear, and G Reimer. Because of this I think we should pursue Stamkos, Nylander, Reinhart, Tarasenko, and Wheeler HARD. I think you have to also make an honest push for Matthews if you can and a LW. IMO Cossa and Edvinsson will replace Ghostbear and Reimer. 2024 roster: Debrincat - Larkin - Stamkos/Nylander/Reinhart/Tarasenko/Wheeler Guentzel/Teravainen/DeBrusk - Copp - Raymond Berggen - Ras - Compher Fabbri - Kasper - Kostin Soderblom Walman - Seider Edvinsson - Petry Chiarot - Holl Maata Husso Cossa We will likely have roughly $74 million against the books to start the 2024 offseason. And if the cap goes where experts think, $15 million to spend. This will be our offseason to acquire one or two major stars. I'm hoping Nylander and Guentzel.
-
what do you want me to do about it?
-
Sure, okay, buddy retard.
-
Godman - Seider Chiarot - Holl Maata - Petry Edvinsson We're not gonna have the physical space to add a big name at D, like Toews or Hanafin or Montour.

It's an instance where I would not have given Soder the spot out of camp. Not because I think making the team at 21 hurt him, but because I think its better for him to play 16+ minutes a night in all situations with Luff, Hirose, and Czarnik, than 10 min a night on the 4th line with Suter, Veleno, Erne, and Zadina. And trust me, I'm saying this with a lot of hindsight is 20/20. I was excited to see him make the team last year, and I was hoping he would get some lucky goals, gain some confidence, and get a real rhythm going so he could stay with the team in greater capacity. But that didn't happen. He definitely had lots of flashes of brilliance though, and I believe Soder will be an impact player on the Wings one day. Most likely top6. Aside from these highlights, I thought his regular play looked very sloppy and unpolished with the Wings. Enough so that I think being up for 21 games was odd. He should have played 5 out the gate and then sent down. And then after joining the Griffs in December he never really got a solid rhythm going down there. I'm on team keep all of the prospects in GR this year unless they are so far and away good they get top4/top6 spots. Then ease them into the lineup as injuries occur and as players are traded away. I want them so overly ripe they rot.
-
I'm a huge Sodabomb fan, I think he was thrust into the league too early, but I also understand why. He's unpolished and sloppy like any rookie, but he's so fuqqing big and confident that how do you not try him out? Not sure the league has seen this combination of size and skill in some time. He should start the year in GR - develop some consistent scoring - then he should be given a bottom 6 roll either later this year or next.

Naive and context lacking Yzerman didn't need stars in Tampa - he inherited them and drafted them almost immediately. Wondering why he didn't pursue stars is like wondering why Willy Wonka didn't buy more chocolate. Yzerman did not inherit stars in Detroit. In fact he inherited a nightmare that he's had to take an entirely different approach with. A place no star would want to come. SY having to sign literal trade bait in order to build up his futures pool. And because of these things you think he's "not a sign star UFA guy"? You're not this stupid. Do better. And in fact he did sign Stamkos, after the whole Stamkos UFA tour 2016. Fuqqin fairweather.

I would say the team currently has 5 pillars: Seider, Larkin, and Debrincat, and to a lesser extent Raymond and Husso. And of course Raymond could very soon develop into a major pillar like the first three. Husso is likely to remain a Howard level goalie, but he is still very good and reliable. A Prospects (obvious future pillars of the team) - 2 C and 2 D Edvinsson Kasper Danielson Sandin-Pellika B Prospects (Almost guaranteed to make the team, but who knows what impact they will make) - 1 C, 1 W, 1 D, 1 G Cossa Lombardi Mazur Wallinder Soderblom C Prospects (Not guaranteed to make the team, but show serious promise & upside) - 1 C, 3 W, 5 D, 1 G Buchnelikov Anton Johansson Albert Johansson Buium Hanas Noah Dower-Nilsson Augustine Gibson Cleveland James D Prospects (Wild cards, long shots to make the team) - 3 F, 3 D, 1 G Ali Savage Viro Tuomisto McIsaac Doucet Gylander F Prospects (No chance to make the team) - Who cares Plandowski Niederbach Stange Bednar Aucoin Draper Bradley Moore O'Reilly Liam Dower-Nilsson Anyone I didn't include I believe it's too early to draw conclusions on. All the A & B prospects are going to make the team at some point. 30- 50% of the C prospects will make the team. Maybe 1 D prospect will make the team. Zero F prospects will make the team. Our future team looks better than a wild card I'd say. Debrincat - Larkin - Raymond Soderblom - Kasper - Mazur ________ - Danielson -______ ________ - Lombardi - ______ Edvinsson - Seider Wallinder - Sandin-Pellika _______ - ________ Cossa Husso And this doesn't even include many of our young depth players like Ras and Berggren and Sprong and Kostin, etc. Blah blah Im impatient blah blah im an R slur blah blah play players before theyre ready

I'm actually a lil pissed at Yzerman for having more contracts committed now. Especially at D. Contracts like Petry, Chiarot, Holl, and Maata are going to stop us from pursuing great D UFAs like Skjei, Hanafin, Toews, Zadorov, Grezylck, Montour, and Lybushkin next year.
-
When did SY say he was looking for that?
-
Why Stutzle though?

Now that Bergeron and Krejci have both retired, I don't think the Bruins look as bad as most seem to think they will be. Marchand - Zacha - Pastranak DeBrusk - Frederic - Coyle Lucic - Geekie - JVR Greer - Boqvist - Brown Lindholm - McAvoy Grzelcyk - Carlo Forbort - Shattenkirk Zboril Ullmark Swayman The forward lines took some hits, but that's still a large nasty forward group to play against. The centers Zacha, Frederic, and Geekie, are young and could surprise some folks. The 4th line is a total mystery and could be bad or could be good. The defense is still dope and deep. And they have 2 goalies that can shut the door. B's will move down the rankings, but they will still be a post season competitor IMO. I see them doing what the Caps are doing and trying to reload on the fly like Holland tried and failed to do. But just because Holland flubbed it, I don't think it's not possible for either team.

Twomissedso sucks you dumb gentlemen
-
Petry is interesting because he's a Dman that didn't really come into his own until he was 28. Kinda like the gem our long lost brother @krsmith17 thought B Smith was. He has a good back story to pass on to our young players

Tatar traded to Golden Knights for 2018 1st, 2019 2nd & 2021 3rd
bIueadams replied to hankzet40's topic in General
We still have $4.5 available to sign Tatar And we are weak at LW. BRING HIM HOME. How good would this roster look: Ras - Larkin - Dcat Berggren - Copp - Raymond Tatar - Compher - Perron Kostin - Fabbri - Sprong Fischer Ghost - Seider Chiarot - Petry Walman - Holl Maata Husso Reimer Depth would be CRAY CRAY INSANO
