But it didnt work. Color me surprised he crawled right back into a bottle. Didnt want him here the first time, and glad SY gave up on that experiment after 1 season. This is a prime example of why. Bobby Ryan arrested for public intox at Nashville airport. Stole from the gift shop, then ditched the stolen items and went to the airport bar. When police caught up to him he was so drunk he didnt know the date time or where he was and couldnt stand on his own. Not being prosecuted for the theft. Ryan was signed by the Wings after completing NHL rehab for alcoholism. How much you wanna bet he relapsed during his time in Detroit hence why he wasnt re-signed by Detroit or any other team.

Virtanen found not guilty on sexual assault charges by jury. Happy for him. That girls story was beyond BS. Recap: She texted with him for weeks (even though she didnt really like him) She went to his hotel room (even though she didnt really feel like it) She engaged with him sexually (even though she didnt really feel like it) She spent the night (even though she wanted to go home) Guy must be hella charming. She didnt want to text him, see him, or sleep with him, yet she did all those things. Best part: he went to practice the next morning and left her in the hotel room with cab money. Girls mad she got pumped and dumped lol.

Kasper's father is reporting via george malik that Buffalo really wanted Marco and was trying to trade up and swap picks with Detroit to get him. Obvi SY said no. All this tells me is SY values Kasper quite a bit more than Savoie or anyone else drafted behind Kasper. This is good.

Maata will be better for Hronek than DK/Staal/Leddy but it wont be a major improvement. Maata is a 3rd pairing on most teams. I dont think SY "values" stay at home at Dmen over others. With DK and Staal leaving that's simply what we needed. Guys who play the PK. I agree were better, but i think its still in our best interest to sell at the deadline. We wont be beating tampa florida or toronto in the 1st round. Eddog makes the team bc Maata, Hagg, and Oesterle are terrible. Ideally id like him to spend most of the year in GR,but i wont complain if he doesnt.

We already have Husso under contract and Cossa on the way... if we could sell Ned for a late 1st I'd hop on that wagon...

Meh - IMHO Oesterle is better than Lindstrom is. The thing about Oesterle is he was never really truly wanted here. He has a close family member in Dearborn who is terminally ill, and thus his agent arranged for him to sign with the Wings so he could return home and be with his family. It was a charity signing by Yzerman and my guess is he was only expected to be an after-thought warm body to be used when needed while he tends to his family. No idea what his status will be this year (not sure if his family stuff is over or ongoing still). But it'll be too bad if we never get this guys full attention/commitment. He was very steady on a bad Arizona team before us. I get the impression most folks think Chiarot will be the new whipping boy. IMO it will be Maata. Just wait. Maata is a younger version of a 35 year old Staal, and I don't mean he plays like a 27 year old Staal. I mean he plays like 35 year old Staal. He doesn't put up points and he is a terrible skater. So he hangs back and plays a positional game, standing still and attacking opponents with his stick. Basically a shorter version of Ericsson. Chariot is going to be a surprisingly good and dynamic partner for Seider. While Maata is gonna frustrate the hell out of everyone lol. But to your point - this isn't a playoff team IMO - a much better deeper team fersure. But we will need to see Edvinsson make the team out of camp and make a big impact as well as have Ras + Zadina + Veleno take major forward steps for us to legit be in the post season. In reality I think Eddog spends most of the season in the AHL and 3 top Holland picks continue to dissapoint.

Some folks never learn. Yzerman got exactly who he wanted. Watch Kasper going #1 in a redraft in a few seasons just like Seider.

I love this draft more than most. I give it an A- #8 Marco Kasper - Big, physical, defensively responsible, mobile center. SY seems to think his offensive abilities have flown under the radar, which very well could be true. His coaches reportedly gave him sheltered ice time and instructed him to play a conservative defensive game. This could easily become Seider 2.0 and the offensive floodgates open as soon as he's given the opportunity. The kid is fluent in German, Swedish, and English. Perfect for this team. Worst case scenario: Another Rasmusssen. #40 Dylan James - Bertuzzi/Mazur buzzsaw style winger. Won USHL rookie of the year - some good players have won this award (Johnny Hockey, Andrei Svechnikov, Max Pacioretty, Anders Lee, Joe Pavelski). Could be another Tyler Bertuzzi, could be another Adam Erne. #52 Dimitri Buchelnikov - Dynamic, electric, offensively gifted, Russian winger. This kid can do it all in the offensive zone. Skate through defenders. Break ankles with dekes. Bat pucks out of the air. Clap bombs. Snipe corners. Will end up being your favorite player to watch. He's an over-ager who is small and didn't do much in his draft year, but then exploded and put up big numbers after being passed over. Is this our Kucherov/Panarin? Or just another AA? Watch this: After this I don't know much about the picks... besides this: The Swedes: #105 Anton Johansson #129 Maximilian Kilpinen #137 Tnias Mathurin These guys were way off most folks radar. Not even appearing in most (extensive) draft rankings. These are your 2022 Hakan dark horse picks. Two big Dmen and a dynamic left wing. What does he know that others don't with these 3? #113 Amadeus Lombardi - Looks like another AA. Very gifted offensively. If his attitude and compete are any better this could be a nice pick up. #201 Owen Mehlenbacher - Plays a strong heavy game. Skating improved drastically through the year. If he makes the NHL most likely a future bottom 6 grinder. #212 Brennan Ali - Our last pick of the draft, but my favorite pick of the draft. Ali isn't a hockey player. Ali is an athlete. He was at the very top of most of all the combine testing drills. He's a physical specimen, and the Wings will teach him to hockey. This kid has the raw genetics to possibly make an impact from the 7th round.
