As much as I'm glad to see Lalonde gone and replaced with an experienced/successful coach in McLellan - I am on the fence as to what to expect, or want for the remainder of this season... Turn s*** around and go on a winning streak where we have a shot at a wildcard spot, or be 'competitive' yet still lose on a nightly basis (which then would beg the question of why was Lalonde replaced if we're getting the same results with McLellan).

1st order of business is for McLellan to get this team to resemble an NHL caliber team...Too many years of subpar performance has us jaded.

Just learned of this 5 minutes ago lol I'm both shocked and happy. Shocked that Yzerman did something and happy it is someone with a successful NHL pedigree.

Would be amusing if rival GMs are lowballing Drury, then seeing Trouba negate any move, and Rags owner Dolan in a fit of rage wants Trouba dumped via waivers... +fingers crossed+

Unfortunately there's really nothing to get excited about this season...Changes behind the bench were needed at the end of last season...Nothing was done which was what I had expected...I'd be shocked if Lalonde was let go...Until there's a new coach - I'm just sorta 'meh' about this season...Just assume watch other teams on any given night.

I doubt it...Bedard was Bart Simpson on a skateboard buzzing around while Petry was Grandpa.

Rather uneventful and sloppy 1st, but I'll take that late goal seeing that it may be the only one we get tonight.

100% Short lived - just like with every former Blue we have had on the roster.

I think Fester is clueless...The team (while better on paper) looks about the same as when Blashill was in Detroit.

Watching Philly/Boston right now...Looks like the Bs are gonna win this and get outta their slump (for now) while Philly continues theirs. Both coaches Montgomery and Tortorella are said to be on the hot seat...

I think from D-Boss on down there's no faith in Lalonde and his 'system' - hence the lack of performance. If there's any hope for 'April In The D' - aka playoff hockey - a change is certainly needed, but that's just our opinions. And when I mean a change - I'm talking assistants too, but that is highly unlikely.

Honestly? No. Me thinks Lalonde will remain behind the bench for the rest of this season - regardless of the results...He won't be offered a new contract summer 2025.

Both team and coaching... HOWEVER... It's the responsibility of the coaching staff to get the guys to buy into and play a system (what system Lalonde has implemented - I haven't a clue)...Most nights this team looks lost, unmotivated, incapable, or unwilling to play at the NHL level...Winnipeg is certainly a top 5-10 NHL team right now and the way we're playing the Wings are a top 5-10 AHL team. After his 1st season I gave Lalonde a pass, but was suspect...This past season it was clear that this team needs someone else behind the bench...Now we're seeing a carryover from last season and if Yzerman doesn't care for additional scrutiny he'll need to make a move, but I won't hold my breath since this is Lalonde's last season under contract...We'll likely see a new guy behind the bench this summer 2025.

If losing bad tonight means Yzerman removes the coaching staff then I hope it's a blowout and Lalonde is made to perform seppuku at center ice afterwards...

Lyon should never have to pay for a meal again while he is a member of these Detroit Red Wings... Was needed at the start of the 2023/2024. but yeah I must agree...This team continues to show no idea of what they're doing and if it weren't for Lyon it would've been an ugly loss.

Just tuned in myself...Down 5-1...2nd intermission.

I'm still convinced this team would be better off with someone else behind the bench...

I'm curious to what an 'upgrade' behind the bench would look like 1st...
