Chiasson released from PTO... I actually thought he might get a 2way contract and spend the majority of the year with the griffins. The Griffs are lacking in RH shots... could this mean the wings plan to assign MBN to the Griffins? With Kasper playing the way he has it I could see MBN taking his spot in GR. Findog also sent back to juniors. Unfortunate, but expected. He will tear it up for Kamloops this year, and then we will see him back in GR for the playoffs.

Adding a corner and another WR would be the tiddies It was outrageous how easily Geno was able to throw over the middle of the field.

Defense needs play a lot better than that going forward. But everyone on offense was solid. Wild game tho, it was fun to watch.

I like the sh!t chickens secondary. So I'm calling it right now. Dan goes ground game attack. Open some holes for Gibbs, have Gibbs run wide. Pound it up the middle with Monty. Get a field goal here and there. Then when we've lulled them into the trap, playaction to Jamo. He takes the ball deep, takes the top off the defense. Easy touch downs baby. Haven't beat these fuqqers in 12 YEARS. It's time.

And, if you allow me to pontificate, there exists an obvious pattern of a bad dog following a good dog, and vice versa. Sort of a "Bad times create good dogs, good dogs create good times, good times create bad dogs, and bad dogs create bad times." Dynamic, if you will. Therefore, logically, the dog preceding Holmstrom must be Sanddog. Sandstrom - bad good Holmstrom - good dog Emmerton - bad dog Glendog - good dog Edvinsson - interim dog during the dead dog era Finnie - good dog I'll continue to work on this history of dogs theory tonight during the lions game

While we are on the subject, who, in theory, was the dog b4 Emmerton? I'm thinking it was Holmdog. Retired right after Emdog joined the team. And Homedog had real dog like qualities.

WHOA. BRAKES. There can only be ONE dog. We have never had two dogs, and I'd sooner root for the laughs before I let this board break with 15+ years of tradition. OG Emdog passed the torch to Glendog in 2014. Glendog then passed the torch to Eddog in 2021, and that began the first dead dog era, where the roster was absent of a dog. Now that Eddog is FINALLY joining the roster officially, do we really want to strip him of his dog status in favor of another prospect? However, the DAWG (Detroit Athlete Who's GOAT) is traditionally a forward, and traditionally a beloved bottom 6 forward. Emmitt Finnie exemplifies those qualties to a T. Edvinsson does not. So is Edvinsson really only an interim dog? Will the torch pass to Finnie when he joins us in Detroit? Surely two dogs cannot coexist on one roster. There can only be one. Danielson and Kasper are with the wings against Pitt... niceeeee

If Copp is covering for anyone it's Dylan Larkin. I wouldn't call Dylan trash. With Copp taking the toughest matchups Dylan doesn't have to focus on shuting down elite 1Cs anymore, and can instead prey on weaker 2Cs. With Copp running the PK Dylan doesn't have to anymore, and can instead rest during the PK so he's fresh to go back out and score when it ends. What I like about Copp is he's a good teammate and soldier who's bought in completely to this system. He's not focused on the dip in his personal stats this deployment causes, he's focused on doing what's the best for the team. And its easy to see why he's willing to make that sacrifice when he speaks. He sees and understands the bigger picture of what's going on. Much like a coach. Do you wanna get sick stats and be a star, or do you wanna win cups? Copp is the later. On him having a coaches mind, he says things i wouldnt expect the average player to say. They asked Kane about Danielson and Kaner said he reminds him a lot of Bedard, the way he shoots and moves with the puck... A very nice compliment, but nothing that insightful. When they asked Copp about Danielson he said oh yeah he could play in this league, he's good, but he's only 180 lbs and he's going to get worn down and hurt. It would better if Nate got up to 195 lbs with his frame and then he would probably be an impactful player for ALL 82 games... thats how a coach or a manager thinks, not a player... he also talked about how hockey is a room full of guys all from relatively the same cultures and backgrounds. But when he played football his teammates were a much more diverse group, and that expierence benefited him in being able to mesh well with others. Again, a much more insightful and reflective thought than what 99% of players think to say. The guy has a good head on his shoulders and is probably someone you want with a letter on their chest.

*COPP HATERS TRIGGER WARNING* I love Andrews interviews. You can tell he's a student of the game, and a student of sport in general. He managed to make analogies to football and baseball multiple times in his last media availability. If you didn't know who was speaking, you would think it's a coach talking. His answers to questions are sobering, honest, and insightful. One can tell he was a multi sport athlete with a lot of different experiences. I'd bet money he will be coaching NHL hockey once his playing career ends. That's how his brain works. And his good soldiering continues. He mentioned that he's been asked to continue leading the Wings #1 shutdown line, and will again receive the hardest matchups. He also alluded to the fact that he already has good chemistry with his linemates. Which I take to mean the Ras-Copp-Fish line is staying together. Also In the same media availability Danielson talked about how the training camp and preseason this year was/is way more intense this year. This team is hungry. He also talked about how much he looks up to Kane and how much a confidence boost it is for a guy like Kane to give him compliments. Larkin is a great player and leader, obviously, but this is why you bring in future HOFers. When a future HOF talks that sheet hits different. And on the fun side, he mentioned MBN is the funniest guy he's ever met.

Patrick Kane IS a Detroit Red Wing

This has been on my mind awhile, and I think I'm just gonna say it. But let me preface this first by saying I love Poland. I probably love Poland more than the Poles do. As a boy I would summer in Gdansk, and now I often go out to eat at Polish Village Cafe in Hamtramck because it takes me back to that charming coastal city that I enjoyed so much as a boy. If you go, get the polish plate. It's a lil kielbasa, a lil pierogi, a lil stuffed cabbage... a complete tour of the eastern European comfort food we all grew up with. Better than anything the most well trained Parisian chef would give you. That said, the poles as a people are complete and utter scum. Thieves and scam artists. Not far removed from the gypsy race. Just look at Al Sobotka... a philandering drunk who never even learned how to use the bathroom. Disgusting nasty folks. Which brings me to my ultimate point: PATRICK. KANE. DIDN'T. PUNCH. THAT. POLISH. CABBIE. But I wish he had. I woulda said GOOD. That's for ripping off the good people of Buffalo NY for the last 62 years JAN. You ruined Buffalo, the last great American city, with your filthy Polish scams. Lets look at the facts: JAN WAS ILLEGALLY OPERATING A CAB. Which is very illegal in the great state of NY. A state that banned uber for 5 years to protect their cab industry. Furthermore, Jan didn't even have a drivers license. HE. DIDNT. HAVE. A. DRIVERS. LICENSE. Not only was he scamming and endangering the life of Patrick Kane, he was scamming the American people. Thumbing his big polish nose at the entire modern American interstate highway system. Why didn't he have a drivers license you ask? BECAUSE HE WAS A DRUNK. Jan had two previous DUI convictions... But the American judicial system doesn't apply to Jan folks... Maybe when he's wrongfully suing Patrick Kane it does, but not when he's out driving drunk in his illegal cab, endangering the lives of others. HOW. MANY. JOHNNY. HOCKEYS. HAVE. TO. DIE. BEFORE. WE. DEPORT. THESE. PEOPLE. His second scam of the night, after falsely posing as a cab to pickup victims, was attempting to shortchange Kane on the fare. The classic polish pay ploy. Ive seen it a hundred times. They render you a service, then claim to have no change, when you try pay for something with a large bill. And if you dispute not getting your change back THEY TRY TO SAY YOU ARE ROBBING THEM. It's a gaslighting scam FULL STOP. But Jimmy, it was only 20 cents, was it really worth the dispute? YES. It's about common decency. Don't come to this country to operate a cash business, and then act all surprised when disputes start because you won't provide change. ITS. A. CASH. BUSINESS. MORON JAN. Furthermore, eyewitness's stated that Jan LOCKED KANE IN THE CAR, so that he couldn't leave, which is what escalated the dispute. Oh, you want to imprison me? You want to kidnap ME? I WOULD HAVE CAVED HIS BIG POLISH DOME IN... lucky for us, and the Detroit Red Wings, Kane is a cooler character than me, and most Americans. A gentle soul if you will. After a brief tussle he was able to free himself from Jans crooked cash cab and fled on foot from his would be capitor. I cant imagine how scared Kaner must of been in those moments, fleeing in terror... And lastly, the only cash found on Kane when the cops caught up with him was a $5 bill. The fare was over triple that. So Jan got the money! Then falsely reported to police that Kane robbed him! TLDR: A polish criminal defrauded and entrapped Kane by posing as a cab, attempted to scam and rob him, escalated that to kidnapping when his scam didn't work, and then filed false police reports against Kane when he escaped. Jan should be in JAIL for life for his crimes that night, and for tarnishing Kane's name and brand with his false lawsuits. Kane didn't punch that cabbie... but I wish he had.

Gibson and ASP are two totally different styles, I agree. But there is only 1spot behind Seider for another top4 RHD. And ASP is pretty well pegged for that role. Gibson might turn out better defensively, but ASP is the blue line puck mover this roster desperately lacks. Eddogg and Mo will do the heavy lifting at defense. That all I said, I read that, at Preds camp, Gibson actually reached out with his stick and used it to push his defense partner into better defensive positioning lol kid will prolly be a good one.

Patrick Kane IS a Detroit Red Wing

Why is this Larkin-is-not-a-2C garbage stinking up this based Kane-pilled thread? Patty Daddy is now healthy AND had offseason training for the first time in YEARS. He's the silverback on this team and he's back to 2022 form. Larks said it himself at the media availability; when Kane stands up in the room and speaks the guys on the team actually STFU and listen. He's the GOAT and he's gonna lead this sorry excuse of club to a 2025 stanley mafuggin championship. Let's fuqqin go.

There's also the fortnite stuff, the same thing that got Laine into trouble. If you watched Walmans "day in the life" his daily routine was wake up, go to practice, pick up Chipotle on the way home, and then play fortnite the rest of the day/night. Ma fuqqa was eating Chipotle EVERYDAY, and spending more time on vidya than he was on hockey. And he literally does fortnite dances to celebrate his goals. When the media asked him about his fortnite dance after his 2nd griddy dance last year he literally said "add me on fortnite, im always on". Junior players are literally told by their teams to scrub their social media of any vidya references, because pro clubs see it as a distraction from hockey. In an interview Keith Tkachuk said his son Matt was staying at his house the night before a game, and he got mad because Matt had stayed up super late playing vidya... and his wife was like "well at least he's not out partying before his game" and Keith was like that almost made me more mad, cause if you're gonna stay up all night before a game, it at least better be for a good reason like you were getting drunk, having wild fun, and getting laid... but instead my idiot kid is wasting his night playing vidya. I think most of the old boys club probably share Keiths viewpoint. And id bet money Walmans Playstation was traveling on the road with him...

    2024 Offseason Thread

By who? All I've heard is Larkin's quote. He said, when asked about the end of the season "guys played through injury, guys laid it all out on the ice, the focus we had on the road... some guys didnt have that, and we addressed that in the offseason." Walman was benched right after the western road trip that took them to Vegas. I'm betting he was out partying during the road trips, while the rest of the team was buckling down. Stevie sent a clear message by paying to ship him out. Bob Duff also has an article out there talking about how old school Yzerman is, and how he doesnt like showboating. And the Gritty celebrations probably didnt help his case. Then you have Fabbri, who was Walmans buddy from STL, and was literally always injured... meanwhile Copp is skating througg crazy injuries and Seider is going to the hospital and then checking himself out early so he can play in the next game. Whatever happened, its clear that those two weren't viewed by management or their captain as committed to winning.

Paying to ship out a Dman then paying to get a similar Dman, I hear ya. Crazy what steals Fabbri and Walman were, only to have to pay to be rid of them. They definately musta been the party boys on the team. I do like that Yzerman didn't fuss about it. He knew he didn't want either on the team next year, and moved them despite the price. Slowly we're becoming a big boy team

Yeah, I read he was a standout at the Preds rookie camp. I really like Kiiskanen coming back, but we definately gave up a valuable D prospect to move Walman and keep our 2nd. Luckily I think Kiiskanen and Plante will turn out to decent middle 6 forwards. And I figure Mo and ASP are the future of our RHD, so Gibson was movable.

Tarasenko is probably the most undiscussed and underrated signing this year. A 2 time cup champion 200 foot top 6 forward, seemingly living in Kane's shadow on this team. He gave, IMO, hands down the best interview at his training camp media availability. He made very clear his utmost concern was getting to know his teammates and learning the systems. He said he chose Detroit because he heard nothing but good things, and liked where the team was trending. But most importantly, when asked about leadership, he responded that a good leader recognizes when others around them are not doing well, on the ice or in their personal life, and they help them. This is the kind of guy you want on your team. This guy is better than 10 fabbris and 20 walmans.
