2018-2019 Opening Night Roster - Dedicated to BlueAdams!

Still going with something like this. I'm even more convinced now that Z will not return. I was a bit short on Larkin's cap, but this is still what I expect and hope to see.

I've been saying it all along. The stories just didn't feel right. I did not and I do not expect him to play.

    Dylan Larkin Signs ($6.1M x 5 yrs)

Not enough. Salaries are outrageous and out of control. I know it's "The Market" but it doesn't mean it's not absurd. I'm sorry, but IMO $6.1M is not team friendly. All the talk about he wants the team to be able to sign players and leave room for the team to get better. If $6.1M is team friendly, I hate to see what he was thinking about getting, $10M? It's just like Mark Stone, in no sane world shouls he have gotten $7.3M. He's NEVER topped 26 goals, and he's only been there once. The Market is stupid and making it impossible to stomach the game, just as the NBA, NFL AND MLB has become. But again and for the last time, I am glad he signed, never wanted him not to, just wish is was for a bit less cap hit to have more wiggle room, especially if Z plays. Welcome back Captain D-Boss.

At 6.1 he better get more than 80 pts.

    Dylan Larkin Signs ($6.1M x 5 yrs)

The sky is not falling because Larkin signed. The sky is not falling because now Z is pretty much done. We're good, plenty of room for Ras and the New Z. Besides all I said was it wasn't team friendly, but then again it is almost Z's cap hit, so it's a wash since Z is done. Then I went in to say, if he isn't done, then Holland blew smoke when talking about new kids. I'm more than glad Larkin has signed, I just wish, unless they know Z is done, it was more towards $5M. But hey, with Zadina on his wing, he'll be getting 90+ points a season anyhow!

Zetterberg's status in 2 years. MOD WARNING PAGE 6

I've been saying, it is really strange that all the Wings insiders are saying the outlook isn't good and the team physicians saying he isn't cleared yet. They're just setting it all up for the bug reveal. Welcome to Detroit Rasmussen and Zadina.

    Dylan Larkin Signs ($6.1M x 5 yrs)

How many prospects that are going to make the team never had anything to do with Larkin signing. It has everything to do with signing Vanek, Green and giving too much money to them. Now unless Z is done or a trade comes before the season, there will be no kids. Not even Rasmussen.

    Dylan Larkin Signs ($6.1M x 5 yrs)

Did I say I was upset with It? It's just not team friendly. But it is Z's salary, which, in order to have Rasmussen up, will have to come from LTIR. Franzen's is all but used up with this contract. If the plan is to keep Rasmussen in the teenage league and Zadina in the AHL, then Ken Holland blew smoke up all your asses because instead of having 2-5 new kids in the lineup, there will be ZERO. Not even on D. So what page of the Holland Guide to GM'ing is this on? Lying to all the fans and signing players we don't need. UNLESS Z is done, then there will be room for 2 new kids. But if Z plays, then no new kids. We have ZERO cap space, 13 Fwds, 6 D. No room for any new kids. Team friendly is 6 years $5M, it's still $30M, but allows for more cap flexibility. Trust me, I am glad he is signed, and sure, it's a good term, but it would be better if it was the same money, less cap hit.

    Dylan Larkin Signs ($6.1M x 5 yrs)

Not team friendly At all. Thanks for the memories Zetterberg. Nearly exact cap hit as Z, so obvious he is done. If not, then Rasmussen returns to play with 17 tear olds and Zadina wastes his time in the AHL. I am glad he is locked in, but I'd of rather seen 6 years $30M, instead of 5 years $30M

Tickets at LCA Holy Smokes Batman!!

That is why I choose not to anymore. I would've loved to get to The Joe for the last season there and then The LCA, but I cannot imagine todays prices for my three sons and I to get tix, park, eat, drink and buy souvenir(s.) Let alone the price of gas to travel 350 miles to Detroit. Yikes! If I do get to a game, it'll be the Griffs. Much closer and much, much cheaper. Probably more entertaining too.

Tickets at LCA Holy Smokes Batman!!

All pro sport's tickets are a ripoff. The Wings have not be relevant since 2012 and the ticket prices are astronomical. They want you to believe that Mr. I put his own money up for the LCA, well, YOU are paying for it. These inflated, WAY WAY inflated salaries, like $7M for a player who has never scored over 26 goals and only has 95 for his 5 year career (Mark Stone) that is why these prices are so high, that may be the "market value" for average players, but the reason the tickets are so high are these stupid salaries. I know the owners make millions and the players want their share, but if the ticket/food/parking prices were affordable (for a family of 4-5) then the owners would make less, way less, thus making "Market Value" for a average player way less. I may be in the minority, but it should not cost more than $100 each (suite prices) to attend a game, and if you are consistently scoring over 100 points, you don't get more than $5M a season. I love the Wings and the sport, but I will never attend a game, even if I were by myself. Same goes for the other Big 4 sports, in what world does it make sense that a Baseball player is making $30M a season? Or any player for that matter? When you are a starting pitcher with a W/L below .400 and an ERA of over 6? Where in the world does it makes sense that you are making $24M per season? Salaries, owners, players and prices are all out of control in every sport.

Yzerman vs Fedorov. Which one was better?

Yes, he also said that on Letterman the year he was traded. I'm sure it would've cost us Yzerman for sure. I'm glad he went to LA.

Wings Get Filip Zadina! (HYPE! Thread)

Well there you have it. Zadina - Larkin - Rasmussen Why not? Larkin setting him up, Rasmussen screening in front looking for the tip in, Zadina putting it home from the circle(s)

Should name it Erik or Karl in honor of his soon to be teammate. Girl? Well, Erika or Karla of course!

Yzerman vs Fedorov. Which one was better?

Hate to insinuate it, but if Fedorov didn't have Yzerman, maybe 94 Feds would have replicated many times. Remember, 93-94 is when Yzerman went down with the neck injury and Fedorov became "The Man." Yzerman missed 22 games and Fedorov took off from there. When Yzerman returned Feds was the #1 center. Remember also, 94 was the year Bowman had Yzerman dealt to Ottawa for Yashin. Guess he figured he had his new #1 guy.

Yzerman vs Fedorov. Which one was better?

I firmly believe that the problem with Fedorov "showing up" has a lot to do with his upbringing in the Soviet System. He was forced to live, eat, breathe, sleep, dream about, talk about, walk nothing but hockey in that system, so when he got his freedom to do what he wanted, whenever he wanted, and hockey was just a job, he mailed it in once in awhile because he could. For once in his young life other things mattered and were more important than hockey 24/7/365. If he did continue to give 110% every moment of every day, he would have likely rivaled Gretzky in his prime. Fedorov was that damn good. If ANYONE could flip a switch and change the momentum of a game, as good and as easy as Gretzky did, it was Fedorov. I am still in awe thinking that we almost had BOTH Fedorov AND Pavel Bure on this team!

All deleted, it was good reading, and figured it'd be nice to have some reading instead of just a bunch of links for once. It sure as heck was better than all the junk being posted around here, but I get it, it was a lot. What if there were no links? What if a user took their time and actually wrote all the articles on here? It'd still be a lot of reading, or a "Brick Wall" of posts, but it would still be good info and on subject. Trades/Signings/News, especially during the dog days of August. But I understand, nobody wants their screen clogged up with that much NHL information, even it is relevant. So I deleted them.

2018 Prospect Tournament and Training Camp

I'm wishing all the best for Rasmussen, and hope he plays in Detroit this season...BUT I am also hoping he isn't just a bigger version of Riley Sheahan. With our need on D we could've went with others at #9 Like Cal Foote or Liljegren instead. Either one may have been possibly our top D prospect. But I do hope he makes it and then becomes a great player for us.

All Purpose Grand Rapids Griffins Thread

I thought I'd come in here to read about the Griffins, not #1D and Erik Karlsson. Anyhow, I'd love to go see a bunch of Griffins games this season. It could be some very good entertainment, maybe even more so than watching the Wings. Nice cheap prices too! Especially if they get Zadina and some other prospects in there.

Not that I meant you, I meant MY comments from earlier in this thread, they were inappropriate, especially since nobody, except the parties involved, really knows what transpired to result in the situation. I wasn't saying your comments were appropriate, I was apologizing for my insensitive comments.
