yes but when he is letting in 3-4 goals a night he is NOT positively contributing to the team. He's been slightly above average for his entire contract. I am not saying Mrazek turn out any better, nor am I saying which one we should've of kept, I said trade them both. Just saying he has NOT positively contributed to this team in a long time...

re-signing Green to a 1 year deal would help in two ways, he was one of our best D-men, plus the trade that hopefully would happen this time at the TDL. TD is tradable as well this TDL, although he can control where he goes. (15 team No-trade list) Add them along with Howard and Nyquist, they could net us a couple extra 2nds and 3rds maybe. Of course with what Holland fleeced Vegas for, who flippin knows what we could acquire. Couple all that with our drafting of Dahlin (or other high end D man in the top 8) and Kronwall retiring, 2019 Camp is shaping up to be a great competition for available spots!

I mean if Pope were to make the team, sending Ras back to Jrs would stunt his growth, so someone has got to go. Do they waive Witko? Do they trade someone? Is disney.com to Toronto still an option? I forgot all about David Pope. It seems he has had a nice little college career, good on him for wanting to finish his college off and "walk" in graduation with his friends. That is something that can never be replaced. I hope he signs a contract, but would he really have a legit shot at making the club? Or would he just turn into another 20-something career AHL'r with a few call ups here and there? I hope he doesn't become a UFA and sign with another team and then becomes good. Let's at least give him a contract and see if he can be good for us first.

...and that is why Franzen had only 1 goal against Fluery. My point was he padded his goal totals against a hack of a goalie. But yes, for as much as I dislike him, he shined when he got an opportunity. I cheered with all the other fans.

listen, we all know my hate for Franzen, you are right, but when a sentence starts with Franzen and ends with "better than Fedorov or Shanahan" then there is not enough absurdness in the world to compare to it. In no year, decade or century is Franzen anywhere near the talent of either of them. I am not talking just because of the big names either. Franzen scored 13 goals, yes, but 9 of them were against a sieve named Jose Theodore. That is like scoring 9 against Howard or Mrazek and calling someone a star... My point, though blindly exaggerated I admit, was that if you put Hull or Shanny or Fedorov in the same era (no clutch and grab) and same hack goalie, they'd also rack up their goal totals. I do appreciate everything he did to help us win the Cup that season though. You guys know me by now, sometimes my mouth (or in this case fingers) talk (type) before my brain thinks and I fly off the handle. Its wrong to do most times, But hey, at least it's entertainment value for you guys! And I haven't been very entertaining to people too much recently in my life, so I am glad I can at least shed some laughs here! Franzen has always padded his stats by scoring 5 goals in 2 games the disappearing for 20. Most overrated player ever. Fedorov at 32 would skate circles around "Playoff Franzen."

Robitaills and Hull could stand still and score 23 goals on Theodore. Turco, Ellis and Fluery. LOL! Looking at the box scores Franzen had 9 goals against Hack Theodore in 4 games, only 4 goals in the other 12...ya, great playoff scorer!

Lol! Franzen scored 2 hattricks against a garbage Avs team and a hack goalie....Again, Franzen does not score 6 goals against Patrick Roy in 4 games. I would've loved to see him playing in 02 or earlier style of play. In a series, you just cannot compare

I can't tell you how wrong this is on multiple levels. That thinking (keeping kids in minors for "more ice time") is what has turned this franchise into what it is, broken down garbage. Kids can learn by practicing with NHLr's and watching and observing from the press box. More than they can learn dominating career AHL players once again in the minors. There comes a time when philosophy has to change, and since our is the only one in the NHL that hasn't, nearly every franchise has passed us up.

Fun Fact: With all the hooking and subtle interference clutch and grabbing allowed in 02, NO WAY the 08 team gets as much room as they did. Fun Fact: Avs Series Franzen does not, ever, NEVER score two hattricks on 02 Patrick Roy. Reason why he got two in 08? Theodore...Oh and again, taking rule changes in to consideration, NO WAY 08 Datyuk and Z outplay or are better than 02 Fedorov and Shanahan. Fun Fact: If rules never changed between 1997 and 2017, the 1997 Red Wings beat the 2008 Red Wings. Again, if 08 team had to deal with all the clutching and grabbing they aren't as dominate and if 97 Wings had so much free ice without the clutching and grabbing and hooking, OMG! Bottom line is you really cannot compare 08 to any of the other 3 because of the rule changes. FWIW, I take all four of our Cup teams over any of the other Cup winners in that 20 years!

That is why I said, the likes of Daley, E, Kronwall, DD and if Green is signed, aren't going to lose their jobs, I'd even go as far as saying Jensen is pretty safe, let them sit 99% of the pre-season games let 4-6ish D-kids compete for one or two spots against XO, if any one or two of them out play XO, keep the kid and drop XO in some form.
