    2018 draft , who's your 2 picks in 1stR

If OTT and DET finish in bottom 3, it might not guarantee the 1st, but with VEG's pick in late 20's, we'll have what could equate to FOUR 1st round picks! We could find some very useful talent with those 3 picks at the end of 1st. Of course this particular post probably should be in the other thread...sorry.

If the cap goes up that much, then yes, I'd much rather see a better return at the TDL.

    Wings Interested In Resigning Green

to sum it up, if they are interested in re-signing Green, they better get REAL interested in cutting more Cap this summer. They won't be able to re-sign him if the Cap doesn't go up. We can forget about having any cap to entice JT, and if Holland doesn't cut cap, he can forget about Mike Green. Or he'll sign Green and have no money for one of the young guns. Which one is it going to be? Larkin, Mantha or AA that it sacrificed for Green if Holland refuses to dump cap, like Howard or Nyquist? IMO, Both Howard and Nyquist should be gone before the season starts.

Mrazek traded to Philly for Conditional 3rd and 4th Picks

Ok, if anybody has had to endure YEARS of trash talk and annoying situations, it's me, but damn if anyone is going to trash talk me off my forum! Well, technically not mine, but I've been here for 15 years, am a booster and will never stop loving the Wings, which is why it's ok to get trash talked. we are all such big fans, we are allowed to show our disdain for the direction of the team and even the folks that trash talk can see the team is bad right now, but it's also their right to defend their point of view. We've lost a lot a members because the team is horrible right now, it just shows how much of a fan they were. I've been a fan since 1979, endured through my teens in the 80's to really and truly appreciate the dynasty time. A lot of fans latched on when they started winning, and now they're gone. The few of us that come here everyday, even if it's for a few minutes will also be the ones that truly deserve this place when the team starts winning again. The fans that have left us the last 4-5 years will reappear, but we who have remained to enjoy this place in the lean times will know who really deserves this place and this team. User who claim getting trash talked off of here just can't handle the state this team is in. We were the Dead Things back then, we built and became what we were. We aren't quite Deaf Things now, but we will be great again. Then we'll see how many fairweather fans come back here.

Where is the "neg" button when you need it!?!? E is far, FAR from my favorite, but G D it, he has been our best D-fensive D-Man all year long. I say re-sign him! ....uh, ok, ok maybe that was a bit too much enthusiasm. Dang it! With each post we attempt, its just a mystery when it'll make the 2nd page!

    2018 draft , who's your 2 picks in 1stR

C'mon! Rasmussen is going to replace the production of Tomas Holmstrom! He is a powerplay specialist! Doesn't matter Holland used his top 10 pick for a 2nd round player, he is (projected) what we need in 5 years! I sure hope there aren't any purest scorer or top 2 C "no-brainer" picks when Holland picks this year, he'll surely grab a 3rd round guy instead!

Green has the same full NTC. There would have to be a serious Cup contender that really wanted him though for him to waive it. Maybe Tampa again and Vegas again next year.

    2018 draft , who's your 2 picks in 1stR

I totally forgot about the rise of Evan Bouchard! He'd be a great pick in our #5-#9 range, quite different than Boqvist, all depends on the way Holland is looking.

So, if the draft were today (and we didn't get #1) we'd be hovering around #7, then Vegas' #29-ish then #34 and #38. Not too bad even if we didn't move anywhere: #7, 29 #34, 38, 53 (if Petr wins 6 PO games, gets to ECF) #69, 81, 84 (see below) #100, 115 (if Petr wins 5 and into playoffs will be #84)) #161, 162 #193 (McCullom is not going to get 20 minutes in 15 NHL games. We just don't have Holland's favorite 5th round choice! Honestly, with one of those 6th round picks or even the 7th, I'd give that Liam Kirk kid a go at the NHL! I hope someone gives him a chance, from what I understand, he has that work ethic that comes with always being considered the underdog. You can't teach that! If anything you know he'll be giving it his all, 100% of the time! Wings Interested In Resigning Green

Not sure where the cap relief would come from though, Howard and Nyquist just may be a couple of nice chips to sell at the next TDL. Especially if one of our young G's take the next step forward. He'd have to trade another player with term, which really would only be Helm or Dekeyser that would help us with significant Cap relief. I don't think anyone would take Abby's contract. Maybe Nielsen, he has a MNTC starting next season, but they ALL pretty much control where they end up, if anywhere.

If Mike re-signs for $4M or less, he will finish his career in the Winged Wheel. We really need to shed more cap though. Especially trying to foreshadow what our young guns are going to get.

    2018 draft , who's your 2 picks in 1stR

We basically have three 1st round picks with OTT's. The way they are headed, it be the #32 overall! There are so many talents to choose from between 25-40. If we get $5, then our 2nd will be #36. If we go D with our #1 - Boqvist FWD with out #1 - Tkachuk VEG's pick - Noel is one of my favs, as a FWD and Mattias Samuelsson as a D,although he has dropped a bit towards the 2nd round. but you also have McLeod, Woo, McIsaac, Denisenko and keep a look at K'Andre Miller. If we came out of the first two rounds with: Boqvist, Noel, McIsaac and Denisenko, that would be a haul! But since this is a 1st round thread, again I will go with: if D- Boqvist if FWD - Tkachuk then if D - McIsaac if FWD - Noel

JEff Blashill coached team: Battle hard for over half the period to get that first goal of the game! :64 seconds later, losing 2-1. Tank for Dahlin, who you jut won't get. There is no way the NHL gives Detroit the #1 overall pick. ...plus Average jimmy. Had to put that in there.

Next contracts for the young guns

They better clear some cap then. The only UFA that was signed was Green on my roster. Odds are, he will be back, everyone else is already there. I am still holding out hope that the three young guns take a lessor contract, but I was just trying to be reasonable.

Next contracts for the young guns

Here is something what could pretty realistic IMO, but it only gives up $3.6-ish in cap space, so no JT. ...and this is IF the cap goes up to $79M. Still no guarantee that'll happen.

Next contracts for the young guns

Not taking anyting away from Larkin, Mantha or AA, but leading this team in scoring is not a huge feat. I hope that they re-sign at a reasonable rate. I think my original guess of $3.5M seems too low now after loking around at other comparable scorers coming of/or just came off ELC's, so I hope we can keep it mid-range. Even with $22M+ available if we give those three $6M-$8M respectively, and Green $4M-$5M, we'd be right back on top of the cap list, with the same team...worse without Mrazek and Tatar actually...

Ya, he's a great player in Juniors, we will see what happens in the Bigs. Would've been nice to have him, but oh well. We didn't get the chance to draft him, and he wasn't a top 10 (neither was Ras, but meh) so Holland probably didn't even look at him before the 2nd. if at all, then it was too late...
