Would Detroit be able to shed enough salary to afford Swayman? Obviously Husso would have to go back, but that is not enough to pay out $8M-$9M. You'd have to hope that they'd also take Chiarot or Copp off our hands. All three have a 10-Team No Trade List, but Boston being much, much closer to winning a Cup, I can't imagine any of those three would nix a trade there. Swayman would definitely be a huge upgrade to what we have, we may have to include a young prospect to make it happen though. Who would that be? Lets say Husso and Chiarot are going back to Boston (opening up $9.5M in Cap for Detroit,) which prospect would be the icing on the cake to get a deal done? I am sure it'd have to be a grade A prospect, and maybe a draft pick to get Boston to trade to Detroit. What say you? Which prospect and draft pick will it cost along with Husso and Chiarot?

Anyhow, here's some more trade suggestions for us. This gets us into the playoffs, then when some more contracts fall off next summer, you upgrade some kids, get into a bidding war for Shesterkin (if he hasn't re-signed) and become a Cup favorite team! (re-sign Kane again as long as he is still a point per game player this season.) Maatta, Petry and Lyon walk. Fish and Motte re-sign to anchor the 4th line.
-
Trade them Husso and let Swayman sit for a year.
-
5-1 though. That's your D corps for the season right there. They need to upgrade somehow. Someway!
-
It's weird watching two Red Wings games at once... kinda like watching two NHL games like in the regular season, but not! 2-1 Buffalo Lyon starting in net 1-0 Pittsburgh Talbot starting in net I will say that it sickens me that McGroarty is playing for Pittsburgh.
-
Not impressed by Husso's .882 SAV. (15 saves, 17 shots.) 1st game for him in a long time though, let's hope he gets better. Edvinsson led D with 22:27 TOI. Cossa 10 saves on 10 shots.
-
You gotta make the Fowler deal. This D isn't getting them anywhere. Without making a change, they're looking at another top 5 pick IMO. Top 10 maybe.
-
I'm having trouble finding the stud RHD we gave up. Remind me!
-
Ok, everyone re-signed. Now make the Fowler deal. We ain't going nowhere with the D as it sits.

Wallinder and Soderblom are B+ to A- prospects, they want players to replace promoted kid in San Diego. Any Cup contenders would have to trade money for money because most would not be able to add his Cap even at 50%. They don't want an NHL player back, they need the roster spot. Unless it's an LTIR or Waiver candidate. https://bvmsports.com/2024/09/16/detroit-red-wings-eyeing-cam-fowler-as-potential-trade-target/

Well I considered this in all my scenarios: https://www.yardbarker.com/nhl/articles/exploring_options_at_defense_for_oilers/s1_14825_40899223?utm_source=mb&utm_medium=email&mb_edition=20240916&mb_loc=left_i Considering that Edmonton is in search of a RHD with some term, I don't think acquiring an NHL Veteran for "future considerations" is out of the question. https://bvmsports.com/2024/08/21/thatcher-demkos-knee-injury-raises-concerns-for-canucks-future/ Considering his uncertain recovery from his injury, Vancouver may be a little desperate to acquire an NHL quality goalie. All they have is a Silovs and a PTO guy. https://thehockeynews.com/news/top-pair-nhl-defenseman-cam-fowler-surfaces-in-trade-speculation-for-handful-of-teams

This is still my trade hopes that will make our team better and open roster and cap space: to EDM : Justin Holl to DET : Furture Considerations (or) to SJS : Ollie Maatta to DET : 5th Round Pick (That would be Walman, Maatta, 2nd for a 5th) to VAN : Ville Husso to DET : 2nd Round Pick to ANA : Willaim Wallinder, Elmer Soderblom, 3rd Round Pick to DET : Cam Fowler (50% retained) then re-sign Seider 8yrs $9.5M AAV Fowler - Seider Edvinsson - Gustafsson Maatta - Chiarot (Chiarot - Holl) Johansson - Petry Lagesson to GR
-
Lagesson is only $775K. Edmonton is still looking for a RHD, we need to offer them Holl for futures. As close as they are to a Cup, I'm pretty sure they aren't on his no-trade list.
-
I'm thinking if it was because of his wife, then he would've exercised his clause anywhere he could.
-
8 years $8,075,000 per. figured this might need it's own thread. Next Seider then acquire Fowler.
-
Edvinsson (if he earns it) and Johansson will be on the roster. If Wings acquire Fowler, Lagesson will be in GR (he's probably going there anyhow) and Petry can rotate in and out with Holl. Fowler has 2 years left, but next year Petry, Maatta, and Lagesson will all be expired. Which will open up 2 more spots. 2025-26? Fowler - Seider Edvinsson - ASP Johansson - Gustafsson Chiarot - Holl (if either are still here after TDL or Buyouts) This TDL, if Trouba's wife's residency is done by then, he will be traded to Detroit. I do think Yzerman is desperate to make the playoffs this season, the only kids that will be in Detroit are the ones he cannot waive, or in Edvisson's case, he earns a spot. Next 2 years is when we'll see the influx of kids.
-
Yet they were interested in Trouba. I know the talk was Holl going back, but thar was so they could buyout a cheaper contract. Anaheim has plenty of cap and could waive a D-man that may be involved or Yzerman could find a trade partner for one of the extra D, or waive one to GR. Fowler would be our top pairing LHD if acquired.
-
Seider tonight or tomorrow. You read it here on LGRW!
-
Here's my team with Fowler and everyone signed. (Traded Husso to Vancouver and Maatta to San Jose) then traded a 2nd, Wallinder and Soderblom to Anaheim for Fowler at 50% retained. Still room for one more forward and over $4M in cap remains.
-
I still say dump Husso and Holl or Maatta for whatever pick you can get and go acquire Fowler. He's expanded his 4 team approved trade list and yes, Detroit is on it. Anahein does not need cap space, they could retain 50% and get some nice prospects, picks for their future. Wallinder, Soderblom? 2nd round pick?
-
Well Berggren came cheaper than expected. Looks like a "prove it" contract. Still leaves over $16M for the two big guys. Let's hope we can get some deals done.
-
I grow tired of seeing $17.65M in cap space available everytime I click on PuckPedia. Plus, Vancouver still needs a goalie. We could clear some cap and upgrade our D. Anaheim shopping Fowler. They don't need cap relief, they need the roster spot. If we could acquire Cam at a 50% retained, that would be an upgrade.
-
Get ready for Cam Fowler to Detroit.
-
The only teams that can afford to sign him for $10.5M are lottery teams. Let him go and I'll take their compensation. 2 firsts, a 2nd and a 3rd. Bye Lucas!
