See, f*** NBC, no player intros!?!? -
...and getting Tavares for 7 years will help that process! And a top 3 pick next draft.

I agree. I know he was hyped to be generational, but McNHL and Matthews have actually proven they're worth the hype. I like Jack, but I'm not sure he earned that deal. Which is why I'm so glad Larkin slowed down. Although I do want him to be our star...only after he re-signs a bridge deal.

Let's hope they aren't using Family Leave no time too soon! FMLA is code in the working world for Family Leave. Anyhow, I like the lines, Kronner being out concerns me as to if he'll ever be healthy enough to play. I'm sure he's not being held out for precaution, especially being the LCA opener.... Not his biggest fan, but a 100% Kronner is a great asset. I've always said we need him at 100%. It's sad that he's rested the entire summer and he's still not ready. It might be time. What sucks about being on The Network is it's all business. We'll probably not even see any pre game festivities! Their pre game is about all of the NHL. f*** you nhl schedulers! -

I'm going to enjoy opening night. But Holland better make some bold decisions on AA soon. Anyhow 5-1 Wings Daley, Frk, Tatar, Sheahan, Mantha. LCA better be loud with great music and new vibes! The history is over! No Motown, no Karen Newman, no bud lynch, nothing from JLA! It's time for A NEW experience for the next generation! -
Just a quick Larkin sidenote. Although him doing great would've benefited our team and obviously we hope he becomes a star and leader on this team, but looking at Eichel' s recent extension, from a business standpoint aren't you glad Dylan didn't keep up with him stat-wise? We'd be looking at a $10M extension as well further making it hard to keep our youngsters with the cap hell Holland has us in!

No Progress In Contract Talks For Andreas Athanasiou October 4th, 2017 at 6:52pm CST • By Brian La Rose Although the Red Wings have been in contact with Andreas Athanasiou’s agent over the last few days, the GM told reporters, including MLive’s Ansar Khan, that nothing has changed with regards to the stalemate in negotiations. Athanasiou’s agent Darren Ferris also told Khan that there is nothing to update at this time. Detroit made a pair of offers to the 23-year-old restricted free agent earlier in the offseason. They tabled a one-year offer worth $1.25MM that would allow him to return to restricted free agency next summer with arbitration eligibility where he could possibly have more leverage to yield a bigger salary. They’ve also offered him a two-year pact with an AAV of $1.9MM. However, Athanasiou is believed to still be seeking $2.5MM per season which means there is still a pretty large gap to bridge. Ferris revealed back in August that the winger had a KHL offer on the table and while he wouldn’t reveal the specifics financially, it was suggested that it was worth more than what the Red Wings have offered. Athanasiou is coming off of a strong season that saw him record 18 goals and 11 assists in just 64 games. However, this was also his only year that he was a full-time NHL player so his track record is still pretty small. The team is likely using comparables such as Toronto wingerConnor Brown (three years, $2.1MM), Columbus winger Josh Anderson (who just signed a three year, $5.55MM deal on Monday), and Vancouver winger Sven Baertschi (two years, $3.7MM). Those players all were coming off similar seasons to Athanasiou without any sort of long-term track record of NHL production. With the season getting underway today, this will be the first day where Athanasiou is leaving money on the table by not being under contract. If he is to play in the NHL at all in 2017-18, the two sides will need to reach an agreement on a new deal by December 1st.

I would say so! I hate to compare, but that trade would be equal to the Oates trade. HELL NO!
-
Hell no I would not trade AA to Pitt! But it looks like they don't want Sheahan anymore either...looks like we don't sign AA until Kronwall or E inevitably go on LTIR.
-
I honestly think Hicketts earned a spot, if not for having to give guaranteed spots to Kronwall and Ericsson (ericsson especially) he'd be here instead of Sproul. I like Spoul, but I just think Hicketts has passed him up on the talent scale.
-
But in 2 years he'll be an RFA with arbitration eligibility, a la Tatar. Take the 2 years at $1.9M and prove you're worth more and get your $5M+ next contract after you net 100 pts. in those 2 seasons.

Pens start trading, could Sheahan be leaving soon? https://twitter.com/CapFriendly/status/915269481169121280

Hey look, I can be a successful Wings reporter like Malik! Cut.....Paste....Cut....Paste! But, ya, here is some info I found on the signing. Thanks to @mikeyisViral
-
No. $1.9 is his value. I'd be ok with $4M for 2 at the very most!
-
Well technically, Witkowski is the 8th D and he can play forward, so he is the 13th forward.
-
Same agent, same amount of points, one goal away from each other, $1.9M looks perfect from my view...
-
When AA signs, Witkowski will be BOTH the 8th D and the 13th FWD!
-
Ok, I just tweeted Andreas up and advised him to take the $1.9M, we're good, he'll get it done!
-
Ok, now that we know AA's market value (with Anderson signing in CBJ) here's is what the opening night roster should be: Tatar - Z - Nyquist Mantha - Larkin - Frk AA - Nielsen - Booth Abby - Glen - Helm DD - Daley XO - Green Ericsson (bleh) - Jensen Howard If Kronwall is ready, I am sure he will be in place of XO. Speaking of cap, isn't today the day all teams must become cap compliant? If so, we have to clear about $500,000 in cap. We are sitting at $4.4M over and Franzen is only $3.9M...and that's BEFORE signing AA,
