Ya, I agree, just trade him. Even $5M for 5 years isn't going to make a difference for us, it'll just be another overpaid guy scoring 20 goals...maybe. Sign Vanek for cheaper and much less term, then use the money for Larkin and Mantha...we're going to need it! -

If we had $20M in cap space, then sure, give him more than $5M, but we only have just over $6M in total cap. Now if Holland would dump about $12-$14M in salary, we can negotiate a bit more salary for him. -

Goodbye Tatar. If he doesn't want 5/5 then trade him. I know ive argued hes worth $5.5M but the attitude plus he has to know theres only so much cap left. Give Vanek 4/2. I'm done with this crap. -

Word going around that we're still talking to Vanek and he wants to come back...not sure how that'll work with Tatar and AA getting the rest of the cap...unless there's about $4.75M going on LTIR. -

I don't care if it's 8 yrs. As long as it's $5M or less and he loses the attitude! But in this rare case, I agree with Holland. Maybe he's trying to not hand out the lo my deals anymore. May he wants to give him 5 yrs so he's not paying an old guy into his mid 30's. -

At this point, I'll stick with Nyquist over a bad attitude Tatar and Howard over a bad attitude Mrazek. Like I said trade them both now and give Vanek a call. I'd even give Jagr a 1 year deal instead of deal with attitude. Btw, Tatar is Slovokian. -

Ya, his attitude about the 1 year deal is what we're discussing, but it's nice to see multiple news agencies reporting on it. Gives it much more substance. Like I said, it's not like I don't think he's worth money, but we only have so much cap, and we cannot undercut AA. Sign him first, deal with Tatar after. Or trade his rights today. A package of Tatar and Mrazek may bring us a nice return. -
Well, right now I turn my attention to AA and Tatar can have what's left. Because we have roughly $6.2M left after Franzen and AA is more important to the future of this club. I got a feeling it's going to coat us more than $1.2M for him, so that leaves less than $5M for Tatar. If Tatar gets the $5.5M or $6M he wants, then what? If I'm making a choice, I choose AA.

It's not the production, I'm good with that, it's this attitude problem saying that if they award him 1 yr. It'll be his last season in Detroit. I don't want that here. I'm a big Tatar and Mrazek fan, but if they are cancers in the room, they need to go.

I don't like the attitude. Trade his rights for a pick now. And yes, AA Will be a future star. I give him $2M per yr. today for 3 yrs. It's situations like this that rub fans the wrong way. After reading this, I'm out on Tatar. -

We only have so much cap. I know he is getting a raise, but not at the expense of AA. I trade BOTH Tatar and Nyquist before I don't have AA on this team. Best case scenario, get AA signed before Tatar. -
No bait needed. Nothing in that article surprised me. What'll surprise me is, when he has his rookie season, if he scores less than 35 goals and doesn't get ROY.
