    2017 Draft

Not sure if that is a draft topic or off season changes topic. Nonetheless, I think they're pretty happy with Nielsen. But, you never know...

    2017 Draft

Thanks for the update! I just hope Holland doesn't try to draft a "project" that he hopes turns into a genius draft steal.....ugh.....

    2017 Draft

If we're going Offense, I like these is this order: Patrick, Tippet, Vilardi, Mittelstat. If we're going Deffense, I like this order: Hague, Liljegren Honestly though, I saw a February ranking that had Hague around #19. Wouldn't it be grand if we drafted one of those 4 guys early then traded up to get Hague in the later part of round 1? Talk about a perfect scenario! ...of course I've seen some mocks where they have us taking some players that I've never even heard spoken about. Finnish and Swedish players that aren't even on the top 5 radar. I guess these mockers figure they know how Holland operates...

    2017 Draft

Yes, I like it, BUT did you put in the Uncle Gary factor in your simulations?

03/08 GDT : Detroit Red Wings vs Boston Bruins : 8:00 PM ET

Kronwall ceased being good when they took the "kronwalling" out of his bag of tricks. Mostly by trying to make him a #1 when he isn't and wasn't. I'm not sure the league came down on him, but it seems awful weird that the hits all of a sudden stopped...

    Time for a reset/restore

I only mention buyout because Howard's and Ericsson contracts have been deemed untradeable around these parts. So if we had to get rid of them some other way, it'd be buyout. Besides you know very well if I said trade Howard, the vultures would've attacked me with we can't trade him, plus he has a NTC. I just want good goaltending, do we trust Howard to stay healthy or do we hope for Mrazek to bounce back? What if we keep both and neither happen?

Can't trust Howard to stay healthy. Maybe that crazy thread that had something big going on in Pittsburgh has MAF coming our way...I don't know, maybe we deal Mrazek, buyout Howard and get a different goalie...

At what point do you start thinking about signing a goalie July 1st? I'm a big Mrazek fan, but can't deny he's had a horrible, sucky year, almost two. Can't trust Howard to stay healthy. Do you start looking at ufa goalies?

All this talk about Sheahan not scoring, but didn't Kronwall just score his 1st of the year? Where's all the talk about him?
  15. Whether we disagree on how he should be used, we do agree that Blashill has mismanaged his bench all season long.
  16. It is what it is. I don't like the guy because of his production. If there is a reason, then it's not blind hate. But if you noticed up a bit earlier, I dropped it. I'm not going to change anyone and nobody is going to change me....Unless Nyquist starts playing up to his contract.

    Shut down time?

Ya, if playing in the nhl had reason right now. I'm not talking all AHL players, of course if we were getting ready for deep run, it'd make sense. But they'd come up for nothing basically. I guess maybe early impressions, but I still think they'd love to stay and finish what they started instead of come up and play in useless games. Anyhow, my opinion is to let them try to get the end goal they've all played the arses off for, blow it up after the season, let them fight it out for a spot come October.

    Shut down time?

Calling them up now would be slapping them in the face. They played their asses off to get GR to where they are now. Sure, normally a call up would be great for these guys, but why tear them away from what they've accomplished to play limited minutes here and not enjoy the reward they've earned in GR? Let them try to win it all in GR, they bled to get thst team to where its at, you bring them up and they miss reaping the reward. Blow it up over the summer and they'll be here full time.
  19. Someone said that he gets paid fairly. But, ya, there is no convincing others otherwise, nor me otherwise, so good idea. Dropped.

Blind hate? I too would rather have mcilrath of the two, but I really don't think he'll get re-signed
  21. You're right, it's hate, I can't deny it, but it's not blind hate. If you think he gets paid fairly to produced as he's done the last two seasons then that's you're blind love for everything Red. I said it, twice now, it's not just him, but defaulting him to top line minutes and PP is, indeed, a major reason we may miss the playoffs. My point was if he had such great chemistry with Z, then he should be scoring more. Simple. He doesn't deserve nor has he earned top line minutes when he's being outplayed by others. AA is destroying him when it comes to points per minutes and quality icetime. I'm just saying if we had a coach who would grow a set, he'd demote players not performing up to expectations and promote players that are. I've said 4 times now, it's not just him, but he seems to be the one defaulted top line minutes and PP. He hasn't been anywhere good enough to be there and he hasn't come anywhere near worth his contract. it is hate, but hardly blind. Btw I haven't always felt this way, there was a time where I called him and Tatar the new euro-twins. Truth. But then he started playing like garbage. Maybe it's coaching, but it's definitely not because of lack of icetime or important icetime.

    Shut down time?

Yes, the reason to not let him get his feet wet is just what you said. He has been tearing it up in GR. He has been a big part of that team and where it sits right now. Bringing him up now does nothing for us or him, except penalize him for us being so bad. Let all the griffins stay down there and try to finish what they played so hard trying to accomplish. Not one of those players would rather be here with limited minutes and not be a part of their team in GR. They've all played hard and have earned what they've accomplished in GR. It's be different if they'd be called up for a playoff run, but coming here now accomishes nothing but ripping them from their own glorious season. Blow it up over the summer, get their feet soaked come October.
  23. My point is, if we somehow make the playoffs, those raving people are going to credit Z for carrying the team, but wouldn't it work both ways? Or do we miss the playoffs and it's on 22 other players? It's a team thing, either way. Nobody wills a team into the playoffs. Yzerman couldn't will a three-peat in 99, Lidstrom couldn't will back to back in 09. If we somehow made the playoffs it's because of the team getting some s*** together, we're missing the playoffs because multiple players who are paid to score goals and stop goals and scoring chanceshave sucked. And coaching and line decisions have been atrocious. None of which has much to do with Z. He can't will the others and he can't play for them. He seems to be trying, but others just aren't good enough to help him. And you remove your hate glasses for a minute, you'll see that I am complimenting Z.

    Shut down time?

I think it's time to blow it up, but over the summer. Leave the griffs down there to try to win a Cup, they've earned it and probably would be mad if they were brought up to a team that is going nowhere fast. I'm sure they'd want to stay there to win something that they were part of getting there. I'd send Russo back so he can be part of it too. Hell, bring mcilrath up to finish the season, why give him something he hasn't helped earn? I'd send Callahan back as well. Anyone coming up now does nothing but tear them away from their team in GR. Over the summer trim about 4 spots and $12M- $16M in cap of crappy players and then give them this team.
  25. Ok, ya, I blame Nyquist for my personal life. Damn him for giving me a great family, solid career, two houses, reliable cars and great retirement saved up. You started wirh a childhood response. I said if he truly had this chemistry you spoke of, he'd have more goals and our power play would be better. What was you're response? " great argument. Lol " So I laid into how he sucks. And he does. Put it this way, the last two seasons has proven that he sucks more so than he has great chemistry with Z. But I guess 20 goals or so is well worth the $10M he's been paid over the last 2 seasons. I said he's not the only one, but he is automatically placed top line and he hasn't earned anywhere near the right to be there. Again, with the top 6 minutes he's been handed all season, if he was so good and had so much chemistry, he'd have near 30 goals and our pp would be garbage. Because he automatically gets #1 pp time as well. Btw, I hope you're not a therapist, because if that's your diagnosis of my perceived inner frustrations, then you need to change careers.
