I seem to remember somebody last season saying the new tandem should be Mrazek and Coreau. If The waiver thing is true about Coreau, then Howard better be placed on LTIR soon...especially if Helm is about ready to play. But it would be just like Holland to think, "Noone will take Coreau off waivers...we can just whip him down without any worry. " IMO, Howard has played his last game as a red wing.
-
Nah, it means Howard will not make it to October.
-
I caught the 3rd. Bruins lost today.
-
Didn't know he was practicing with the team....Holland does think differently, he's only 6 points out, he will not sell if he's that close. We all know it's true.
-
Didn't even know they were on......
-
Unfortunately Holland thinks differently. Helm to stay on LTIR and Kronwall to LTIR opens up cap space.
-
Honestly, I believe as long as they are within 10 points of a guaranteed spot (3rd place) Holland will not sell and he may just buy. Again, only 6 points out is not insurmountable. They have to go on a nice streak, like 8-2 or 9-1, and have a couple teams falter a bit, but again, I remind you, 09 pens were out of the playoffs early in Jan that year as well...we don't have a crysby, but Mantha, AA, Vanek and Z seem to be trying to lead this team out of the ashes...
-
If Vanek loves it here and wants to stay, then I work out a deal with him telling him that we're trading him for a 1st to a contender, then have a lucrative "thank you" deal ready for him July 1st. But then again, we are still only 6 points out of 3rd place. Can we string a nice 10 game streak together and get ourselves even closer, possibly in?
-
It's no secret I voted Hossa. But other than him, they all suck...they're ******* Blackhawks for f***s sake!
-
AA holy s*** AA!
-
Off with Holland's nuts!
-
Lol! Who needs a goal now? Team going nowhere with Sheahan playing!
-
This team will go nowhere with Nyquist in the top 6 and Larkin stuck in the bottom 6.
-
Sure wish he'd try moving Tatar and Nyquist out of the top 6....or out of the lineup for about 10 games...

I have a feeling Chicago is going to regret giving Panarin that huge contract right off the bat. I'm surprised there was no bridge deal...I hope it does hurt them big league! -

I don't like that Ott nor Jensen are out...there are other struggling players who deserve a "sit down." -
Orr played when no defenseman even thought about playing like a forward. That's what he basically was, a forward playing on the blueline. Put Paul Coffey in his 80s prime back in that era and he has more accolades than Orr. He'll, it's the same as if you would put Fedorov in his prime on D in the 70s. In today's game, Orr would be great, but nowhere near as decorated. Plus, how many Cups was he responsible for?
-
I just figured that having Tavares' former linemate under contract already may make him give us a looksie. I thought Tavares was a winger?
-
If we have an opportunity to get Trouba or Hamilton, you deal the pick. Like someone said, by time their due for a huge raise, we'll have plenty of cap space. We haven't touched on when they sign Tavares after next season...

I truly believe Vanek will fetch a 1st from a team in the top 5-7 looking for a scorer to rent for a serious cup run. Green could get a 1st as well, but maybe a 2nd considering he would control where he goes with his NTC. Smith could actually get us a 2nd from a team that really wants him (like rumored Boston or Florida from last deadline.) Remember, the price goes up within the division. Ericsson is more like a 3rd with retained salary...4th without. Nyquist/Tatar could range between 2nd and 4th. I wouldn't want any players back, just picks. Plus I don't think we'd get a Duclair type player in return for any of them. Ott isn't going to be traded.
-
That fact that there isn't any can't miss elite guys is a perfect reason to trade the pick for an elite guy. Even if you get the #1 Overall, IMO, it'd be better to trade it for the elite D man and a lower 1st could get you Foote or Hague. Again, if a team pays up for Vanek and we get a 25-30 1st as well, we could possibly draft both. But getting Hamilton or Trouba PLUS the chance at getting Foote or Hague. You just can't pass that opportunity up for maybe in Patrick or Liljegren. Let's say we get #1, we offer it to Calgary for Hamilton and their 1st, which may be around 12-15. You have Hamilton and quite possibly Foote or Hague will be there for the acquired 1st. Maybe a team like CHI, MIN, PIT OR MTL pays a 1st for Vanek to maybe put them over the top, and maybe there's someone good between 23 and 30 as well. That's where I think you have to sell a few of your vets, and trade your 1st if it's in the top 5. You may be able to trade it if it's a top 10 as well, especially if someone is left on the board that Calgary or Winnipeg may really want.
-
Trouba and Hamilton are legit top D now, and will be for 10+ years. If we can keep our kid core and acquire one of those two, plus still have a 1st rounder that could land us Foote or Hague, I do it. It almost makes too much sense.
-
If we got a top 5 pick, again, I'd offer it up for Trouba and their 1st. Same as with Calgary. If the rumors of Trouba have any weight, then our 1st will have to be in play. A top 5 pick, IMO, would get that deal done. Same as with Calgary, they may want a top 5 more than Winnipeg.
-
He'd be a good pickup for GR. That's it though.
-
I offer any pick 1-5 to Calgary or Winnipeg for Hamilton plus their 1st or Trouba plus their 1st. Then I hope to land Foote/Hague. If some team around 25ish would be willing to overpay for Vanek or Green, we might be able to land both. Of we sell Green and Smith (hoping for E too) and replace them with one of Hamilton/Trouba along with Foote and Hague. This is a perfect scenario obviously, but if all we did was acquired Hamilton and Foote it'd be, IMO, better than drafting Patrick or Liljegren.
