momentary lapse there....back to calmness! screw it, lets just roll with: DD - Smith Ericsson - Green XO - Marchenko Sproul(Jensen) until Kronwall is healthy...we'll re-evaluate at the deadline. -

http://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2016/09/ducks-looking-trade.html Ducks don't want any salary back, so much for trading Nyquist. How nice are those overpaid contracts looking now? Sure could use about $4M in cap space to acquire something we need...oh well, we're fast. Jimmy, Ericsson, Helm, Nyquist...all that overpaid garbage. PLUS they all have NTC's!!! (Nyquist kicks in next year) We Like our team. Two players we need to make our team better, and we can not even sniff them because of overpaid hot garbage mid tier players. Average at best. Great Job Kenny! -

http://mynhltraderumors.com/nhl-rumors-jacob-trouba-potential-trade-partners-for-the-winnipeg-jets/2016/10/01/ This has been posted before about Dekeyser being the central piece, if that's the case, then I prefer we pursue Fowler. DD is our leader on D, we are acquiring someone to play with him, not in his place. I say we make the deal to Anaheim for Fowler, that way we'd seem less desperate and wait until the price comes down on Trouba and see if we cannot grab him as well. Of course there's always the 3-way deal that has been mentioned. I just feel that we still need to upgrade the D. Ericsson looked like s*** last night. I can't believe he is going to take a spot away from someone...AND probably get protected! -

We are going to see that line, they've already named it. According to Ken Kal its the " OMG! Line " I'm not making this up. But just like you are telling us that we will be happy with Helm, I have a strong feeling that Ott is going to surprise a lot of people and become a fairly important player on this team. If I'm wrong, meh, at least its only 1 year and very little cap hit. I'm always mad when we lose players for free, so if we lose even ONE of our waiver players, I will be mad. I'd rather trade the player for a low pick if possible, or package for a bigger return. But, thus is the NHL. -

Fowler is a good option for sure, but at the expense of which D? If Fowler is acquired, it knocks the one kid that would make it back out of the lineup, then bumps Smith down to #7. I'd love him here, but I think a roster D would also have to be going back. Popular choice would be E, but we know that wont be. Either trade for Fowler or Trouba would probably include Smith just to make roster room. I have a waiver question. If we waive a,player and he clears, is that the only time this season that they have to go on waivers? If later in the season he gets a call up, then sent down again, would he have to clear again? -

I like that idea, but as long as AA and Mantha have options, they'll be in GR unless a spot opens up due to injury. Which sucks.... Now, we know Pulkkinen will be out, I'm pretty sure Jurco as well. I'm not quite sure Z will be ready either, so there's 3 spots right there, but they'd have to knock miller and Ott out of the lineup. Plus you have to hope your better guys out of options don't get picked up off waivers. -

Mantha and Svechnikov or Cholowski? Hmmmmm.....how good is Svech or Cholo supposed to be? I thought I read Cholo was supposed to be a 2nd round pick so would he and Mantha be worth it? Is Svech one of those we'd regret trading? For Trouba this might be worth it. We'd have to dump salary somewhere... -

So if Callahan deserves a spot, now we're even more crowded. What do we do? Everyone can't stay. -

Agreed. If we lost any of the three kid D, it would hurt more than Ferraro, Nestrasil or even if we lost Callahan. I'd hate to lose Frk as well. I think Coreau would be a huge loss. The only way I wouldn't be upset is if some of them were traded for what we need. -
Strongest Man In The World and Computer That Wore Tennis Shoes Kurt Russell...with a bit of Captain Ron and Snake Pliskin! (Beat me too it)
-
I also said in my original post, if Holland isn't going to keep the kids around...I for one, if we aren't making a trade, would love to go with all three kids if Kronwall and E are out. DD - Marchenko Smith - Green XO - Sproul Jensen It could up their trade value or allow Kronwall and E plenty of healing time or best case scenario, show that they are better and show we don't need broken down players anymore.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=dlvr.it&v=mgtjcP7huFE Got to love Ott. He's gonna have a lot of fans here. Blashill sounds pretty high on him too. Great pickup! -
Just so it's out there, I wasn't the one who brought up helm in this thread. I just simply was stating i believe Russell would help our PK and defensive corps. More so than the current unit we have. I also said that I'd much rather have trouba and/or Fowler, but if we're not getting either of them, Russell is a nice option to improve our D, PK, and shot blocking on the defensive side of the puck. Never mentioned forwards.
-
See edit. Our PK was horrible after Miller went down. Helm did not help. Our current group of D did crappy as well. If we aren't going to be able to get either of the two guys we've been talking about all summer, Russell would be an upgrade on the PK on the D. Helm is Helm, he is just getting more money now....way more...way too much more.
-
I'm talking D. I'd rather have AA up centering the 3rd line. Plus too too much money and too long and a NTC.We had a pretty bad PK last season after Miller went down, so Helm didn't help that much. But with a D man who is better a the PK than most of our current D, Russell would make it better. I'd still rather go big for The Targets, but Russell would be better than E.

That would be our luck, Comeau has a great camp, deserves a spot, gets waived and gets claimed.... I seriously hope this does not happen. Pissed off I will be! These kids have got to be tired of being waived... Here are the players that will have to go through waivers:Ouellet Tangradi Lashoff Frk Coreau Sproul Callahan Street Jensen Pasquale Cleary Aubry Campbell Ford Paetsch Heater Allen Obviously some we have no worries or care too much about, but there are some that would be s***ty if we lost. Add to that list Jurco and Pulkkinen as well. -

Do you guys think that this is the year that Callahan doesn't make it through waivers? -
If Holland isn't going to keep the kids around or trade for The Targets, I wouldn't mind giving Russell and nice deal. Sure he's not a #1, but he is a great pk'er and shot blocker, he also can throw his weight around. I'm really surprised he's not sign somewhere. He must want too much...

Not so sure, because Ott and Vanek will earn themselves new contracts. What if Vanek scores 35 goals with 20 of them on the PP? you don't think Holland won't offer him an extension? If Ott scores anywhere near 10 and brings pugnaciousness back to our team, he will also re-sign. Kick, I know he'll be due a huge raise, that's why I brought it up. If he scores 30 he will get every penny if not more than Nyquist. Especially after giving a 4th liner nearly $4M. That crappy deal set the bar high for signing in Detroit. -

If article has any truth to it, then expect Fowler soon. But even though the ask was un-stomachable, the longer it goes, the price will drop. Fowler and Trouba will be Red Wings! -

If Tatar scores 30, Nyquist will need to be traded, they won't be able to afford both...unless they dump both Howard and Ericsson. -

Yes, that is right, Otter with a goal. Great signing! He will be a very important person on this team.
