eenie...meenie...minie...and you're it Philly! -
That was quick, he wasn't even around for too long...

There's suggestion on the Detroit News by Krupa that says declining skills may be at the heart of Pav's possible decision to retire after this season. Not that I am saying Pav is bad, but it is obvious his age is catching him. I suggest to Holland that he go hard and spare NO expense on trying to get Stamkos so Pav can move to the 3rd line (along with Z) and take the pressure off of him to be the top player here, and then maybe he'll finish his contract out. Its on you Holland! Get this done! Spare NO expense!

I agree somewhat....2nd would be nice, but I think we have to go for the teams that are closer to us. Root for CBJ and TPA. We have the tie break (so far) with the Isle (ROW) and if CBJ wins, we would be within 2 points of Rangers as well once we beat Philly... ...but it doesn't matter, Boston is going 1-2 and we are going 2-1...Plus Philly is going 2-2 with one of those in a shootout.

Just doing more research on Lucic, apparently Boston retained $2.75M of his salary so his actual salary was $6M this year...he will probably look for a raise or at least stay the same...what is with all these $6M+ guys only scoring 15-25 goals? My God look at St. Louis with the $7M 10 goal scoring Paul Stastny! Sheesh! I just rather go hard after Stamkos, if we fail, re-evaluate from within...I just cannot justify giving someone more than $6M to score less than 30 goals. I know Pav and Z are getting it, but I mean acquiring a UFA this summer.

Kadri 4 game suspension for cross checking Glendening

Nice.... -
Lucic - Datsyuk - Mantha Larkin - Zetterberg - Abby Tatar - AA - Nyquist Helm - Sheahan - Glendening Jurco Yandle - Dekeyser Kronwall - Green Ericsson - Marchenko XO Mrazek Enroth This would be my ideal wish for a nice off season...IF Pav stays...if he leaves, things get complicated, we may have to focus more on a center rather than Lucic...
-
Hope for sure....again, if this team remains the same just minus Richards and KFQ...we're doomed.

https://twitter.com/Jamie_Edmonds/status/717017728536690688 Pav not denying the rumors...I bet he's done.

That's fine, we just need to beat Philly and NY and it won't matter. Boston won't go 3-0.

It's going to be scary! If we can get 4 out of 6, I think we should be good...gonna be some great games to watch, as long as Detroit shows up...if we get 3 more stink bombs......ugh!

If Holland could shed some salary at the draft, then acquire Lucic and Yandle this summer, I think that would be a great step in the right direction. Not saying they are the be all, end all in UFA's (or trade acquisitions for that matter,) just high end examples. If, let's say, all UFA's leave (Maybe Helm stays for $3.5M or less) and Holland deals Smith, Jurco (or Pulk) for picks, then signs Yandle and Lucic, this team is (much) better (at least on paper.) As long as players are used correctly and given correct line mates. Lucic - Datsyuk - Mantha Larkin - Zetterberg - Abby Tatar - AA - Nyquist Helm - Sheahan - Glendening Jurco Yandle - Dekeyser Kronwall - Green Ericsson - Marchenko XO Looks great on paper...

don't look now, but add another team to our chances of passing up....The Rangers are only 4 points ahead of us, on a 2 game losing streak and are only playing .500 the last 10. They currently sit 4 points ahead of us, could possibly be a do or die for them when we play them the last day of our season... I think our chances to make the playoffs are pretty good (unless we s*** the bed all 3 games) considering we could pass Philly (they still have another game against Pit) if we beat them Wed...we could pass any of Philly, Rags, Isles, Bruins...also an outside chance we could catch Tampa, they are also 4 points ahead of us. What a mess, yet the competition is going to be fierce this last week of play...lets hope The Wings all show up!
-
Lets not count out the chance of jumping ahead of the Isles either. They are only 2 points ahead, sure with 2 games in hand, but those games are TPA and WAS. TPA will bring its A game trying to get 1st in Atlantic, WAS, while, already clinched the PT, still ice a formidable team, especially with Ovie wanting the goal score title. The Isles could very well still only be two points ahead of us come Wed.

Howard had been better the last month, not 2nd half Petr's Jan-Feb was NHL elite, dare I say Vezina, Dom Hasek-type numbers... He hit a wall and Howard has come up good enough to help us to where we stand. But he has been nowhere near what Mrazek was for a few months. He's played good, don't get me wrong.

I think if Smith is moved, it'll be to FLA or BOS. In that case we could maybe get a bit more value for him in-division. I honestly think E is tradeable with some salary retention. Need to free up 2 d spots, one for our future #1 and one for a kid. One spot is a given with KFQ leaving UFA, if you can swing E out of here before Smith, do it, but then again, Smith is more tradeable. It all depends on whether Holland makes trades at the draft to acquire someone. Even if we have the #15 pick, that in a package could entice a nice trade. Kenny has been reluctant to trade a 1st, but maybe this season he is more tempted to do so considering the way the season has gone. Playoffs or not, it still has been a failure of a season for the Red Wings standards. There's no guarantee he can even land a UFA this July, it may have to come via trade. But if Holland does nothing and just re-signs KFQ and Helm, this team is doomed for years to come.

Don't know...but I am sure we have a few assets that could get it done.

Bottom Line, we need to beat Philly AND Boston to make it. We have them back to back, Boston has carolina then a day off, then us. Boston will most likely beat Carolina. Philly has Pitt for their game in hand, hopefully they whoop the flyers and leave us tied for the game wednesday. Either way, if Boston beats Carolina and we lose to philly, it will be WAY too hairy! We NEED to go into the Boston game up by 3 if possible. That would take them losing to the Canes, and us beating Philly though...if they beat Carolina, we lose to Philly then they beat us? Over... Best case scenario, we are up 3 by thursday and we beat them. If Philly loses to Pitt, and we beat philly that'll help in the WC race, they also have a date with Pit... ARGH! It's too hairy for me now!

Trade for Yakupov, sign Stamkos or Lucic, sign Yandle, play the correct players in the top 6....fixed this mess. (on paper at least!)
-
IF/When they acquire Yakupov, he will stay to teach him...
