tis also Pav's last year of his contract.....Wonder if he'll sign another year deal to usher in the new barn? Let's hope so! I feel old knowing that I can remember going to the Joe the first season (as a 9 year old) and now it's closing it's doors...life must go on!

SNIP? Show....SNIPE Show I think is what should've been written in the video....unless of course he was snipping the twine with the puck! Still cool though! Snip Snip here, snip snip there and a couple of fa la la's! That's how we keep things nice and trim in the merry ol' land D-Boz!

My appreciation to Petr is thank you for being the goaltender I predicted you'd be 3-4 years ago and thank you, oh thank you for stealing Jimmy's #1 spot! Also something I hoped you would do and said it would happen about 3 years ago, got lambasted over and over, but damn feels good to be right! In all seriousness, I think thus far Petr has out performed what anyone thought he would be, that's for sure! From a fan standpoint this is the best thing that can happen, from a business standpoint, this is going to cost the Wings a ton of money come July! But if they can shed themselves of Jimmy's salary, it'll be fine. Congrats Petr! Keep it up! 1.94 and .934.....amazing!

.951 SAV% 1.33 GA That has got to be tops in the NHL since Jan 1. If I figured it all out correct, he now has a season .933 SAV% and a 1.88 GAA, good for #1 in both catagories in the NHL leaders....he also now has 20 wins which is good for 10th. Put all those numbers together and we are talking serious Vezina talk.....are we sure he is not a official rookie this year? He only played in 29 games last season...sure wish he was! We'd have two ROY's! hey look, Piper is back...bizzaro again! -

Thank God Petr is in or We'd be down 3-0 again in the first 10 minutes, especially with K back there! Anyhow, Go Wings! Lets exact some revenge! D-Boz with 3 points tonight! Mrazek with another 2 or less night! Defense look crappin horrible with E and K back there....ugh! Let's hope Q keeps steady and no Smith screw ups! -
Flyers/Penguins Winter Classic 2011....I mean 2017
LeftWinger replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I'm not sure, but I think I'd rather watch them at the WC over PIT/PHL again....especially since those two teams aren't really relevant this year...even with the Cup winner idea, at least you're getting to watch a great team (most the time) play. Outside of Pennsylvania, who the hell wants to watch pit/phl play again....I still think it would be cool to bring a warm weather team up somewhere to play. Why not LA or Anaheim at The Isles or Wild? Florida or Tampa at Boston....heck, I thought they have outdoor arenas they can put in the heat now...how about instead of the battle for Pennsylvania, how about the battle for Florida or California or Arizona vs. Dallas? Anything but the same old teams over and over and over...I like Detroit being there, but I almost like the Eve game better than the WC, its more of a tradition... -
not to turn this into a trade debate, but as with Glenny and Sheahan, now the graduation of AA has really made Helm tradable. He is a UFA, he will get $4M+, you can have half a bottom 6 for less than the price cement hands would cost you. Having so much speed is great, but if you have nothing else its worthless...much like a woman will tell you its great if you have a large, ahem, but if you don't know how to use it, its all for nothing. Helm can skate north and south with the puck fast as anyone, but he just dumps it in, or shoot towards the net and missess most times. AA has made him expendable, he may have also bumped Pulk out of a top 9 spot. It's time to go with the cheaper better versions. Re-sign Miller (our PK needs him) and then got with Miller - Sheahan - Glenny on the 4th. Stick with Tatar - AA - Nyquist (unless he gets dealt.) AA needs to stay, if it means keeping Andersson out, then that's a bonus as well!
-
...oops, video has been removed by the user. Wonder who didn't like it being on Social Media?
-
That could be a very interesting combo(s.) We saw last night that AA is legit and needs to stay here. I am 199% in favor of putting Helm on the 4th, if we can't trade him.

Panarin is lighting it up at the same rate as Larkin...tied in lighting it up...Panarin has so many more points because he is playing with MVP Kane. Larkin is playing with Abby and a broken down Zetterberg. Could you imagine Larkin's points totals if he were also passing the puck off to someone more talented, may someone like Stamkos? I do agree, the "voters" will probably just look at point totals, and not the intagables, but if they looked at his linemates and situations as well, hands down D-Boz is the ROY. Not withstanding that Larkin leads the NHL at +25, Panarin is only a +10, which basically means Larkin plays more important minutes and in more important situations...
-
...he needs to stay in the lineup! His line was awesome yesterday, have Tatar and Jurco on his line was very entertaining and they had 2 goals! OR was it Nyquist and Jurco? Maybe it was both combos at times, but still AA needs to stay here, I liked Sheahan on the 4th with Glenny, they would be great with Miller.

Flyers/Penguins Winter Classic 2011....I mean 2017
LeftWinger replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I think they should change the format to the Stanley Cup Champion against different opponents. Just suggestion... I am not a fan, but when is Minny going to get in one of these? If we're talking new and exciting every year... I think a Minny/Dallas game would be a good one in the State of Hockey....not to be bias (since we've been to a couple) but what about Hockeytown vs. The State of Hockey? Either of those two matchups will draw a ton more viewer than Pit v. Philly....oh boy, those are two hot ass teams playing right now that everyone wants to go sit out in the artic weather to watch! How about the Isles? I don't think they've been in one yet, have they? -
I also believe that Holland will NOT acquire him if he is only to be a rental. Holland doesn't need rentals, he needs a top pairing guy to sign long term and run the D for the rest of his career. I say either negotiate with him thru WPG, to either do a sign and trade, or have a deal in place as soon as he is acquired....is the latter illegal? Maybe, but the point is, know up front what he is looking for and be ready to offer him something that's not insulting the minute he gets here. If their asking price is initially a prospect, 1st and 2nd, then they should accept Helm, Sproul (or XO) and a 1st. If they wanted an experience NHL D-man in return, throw in Q or E (ya, I know) and drop the 1st down to a 2nd...I'd pay that ONLY and ONLY with the sign and trade, or a deal almost ready to go when he gets here. I do think Byfuglien would be the #1 guy here for the rest of his career, but in the same thought, I DO NOT want him just for a rental...like many have said, we are not a rental away from the Cup.
-
I am all for trying to acquire him, I am also ok with giving him $7m+ per season. If the market dictats that the likes of Q and Ericsson are "deals" at $4M, then $7Mish is quite a deal for Byfuglien. I've also mentioned that he would not only fill our need for a top pairing guy, but you could also put him in Abby's place on the PP in front of the net....who's gonna move that big guy out of the way without taking a penalty!?! Who's going to see thru him to stop a point shot! I say go large on trying to trade for him, outbid a team if you must, and yes, pay him $7M+ for 5-6 years...
-
What the hell did I just watch? I was actually waiting for something cool to happen....like maybe E-Slayer blowing out that basement window above the net....that would've been great! Does anyone know who E-Slayer is and if he is playing anywhere? Maybe Pierre can ask him what D-Boz stands for the next time he interviews him...whatever ity means, we now have his nickname...and no one can tell any of us how stupid it was to make it up, because it came right from the horses mouth!
-
anything is worth trying at this point... I remember Jensen being one of the best puck moving d-men in the preseason as well...its time to sit Ericsson and get a youthful influx on D. If for just a game or two... Dekeyser - Quincey Smith - Green Jensen - Marchenko
-
not to get too much into trades here, but of the guys practicing together you have to trade Helm, Nyquist and possibly Pulkkinen or Jurco. Get this shakeup moving!

+1,000,000 for you trying to get the thread back to subject! It's a very nice design, the guy who makes those things must be pretty well off! I can't imagine custom designs like that are cheap! Does anyone know if the inside of the helmet is generic or are they shaped to the specific player's head? Sort of like a seat for a NASCAR driver...
