being able to have 5-6 players make around $6M and more isn't parity....blah, I am just tired of Detroit no longer being the sought after destination...I am not sure about you, but I like being the team everyone wants to play for....
-
Ok here is the crappy part about this whole parity situation....rewind two years when Suter and Parise were the hot couple...Holland was offering what he could that would take him right to the cap with Suter. He wasn't offering anything near that for Parise. I know we lost Suter to his wife, but after we lost him, Holland signed cheaper players that allowed him to stay under the Cap...Minnesota was right against it after the two signings...fast forward...Wings have cap space, but ironically enough as of today, Minnesota has $5M more in cap space...they will be able to offer Niskanen the moon AND THEY STILL HAVE SUTER AND PARISE!!!!!! How ******* fair is that!?!?! That's not parity...that's rape.
-
wow what? How much did he get paid? Do you think he is gonna get $7M? Usually after a buyout, the player signs a nice mid tier contract for a year or two to earn a bigger one when he re-signs...the player just got a buyout of sometimes $10M or sometimes more, a lot more. Money is not the motivating factor usually after a buyout...at least not what I have seen since the cap was instilled. But go ahead, keep attacking with replies that bring nothing to the conversation...how many is this towards me now?
-
we can afford both. Erhoff got bought out, so he can come fairly cheap. $3M maybe. Niskanen $6m maybe. Trade Kindl and give that $2.4M to Diesel. You still got $5m for Sheahan and Tatar. Once you dump Andersson and give Sheahan and Tats about $2.5M together. You have over $3M for Iginla or just hold on to the $3M for space.
-
that is a solid D! If Holland did just that, I may forgive him for Hossa...we have the money, not including the Kindl salary dump...
-
I agree...as much as I bash on Holland, as long as he is making competitive offers, I guess I am ok with it. I can blame Holland though for slowly turning this into a destination that top UFA's avoid...then again, I also blame the city leaders for the cesspool...hell, even I left the area after 42 years of watching it get worse and worse...

LeftWinger replied to Datsyukian-Deke's topic in General
I complain because we can... back on topic...do they make any kids under 6' anymore? Heck my 15 year old is 6'2"... I am quite happy with the draft. Wish we could've made the NHL club better...bring on the 1st! Kick them hard Kenny... -
NHL Draft 2014: Rounds 2-7 **MOD WARNING POST 51**
LeftWinger replied to Datsyukian-Deke's topic in General
oh please...forgive me for not wearing the glasses. Just because someone has an opinion that you don't agree with doesn't mean they are less of a fan. Its unfortunate we have people who don't want to see Holland have some balls. you are right though, its not July yet. I do hope Holland lets loose and actually does something of significance. I just hope the come July 2 and he is still kicking the tires, I dint hear...guys its only Juky, not everyone signs right away....oh wait that is what we hear... FWIW I did say his draft was solid...it just didn't address any of our pressing needs. Now if/when he does sign a couplevUFA's, he will have too many players and end up losing players to waivers instead of getting a puck for them... I do agree with you guys, be patient, but we are patient every year and every year...welll... -
NHL Draft 2014: Rounds 2-7 **MOD WARNING POST 51**

Holland failing to make room for improvements on the NHL roster. Still have too many forwards, s***ty D. No room for UFA's. Failing to trade Kindl, Andersson. He will just kick tires for the rest of his career. He absolutely disappointed Red Wings Nation again thus far. Sure his drafts were solid, but Detroit as a NHL team still sucks. Get ready for Q and Alfie to come back when no UFA of any value wants to come here after Holland, once again, fails to make his team a more attractive place to play. Pathetic. " But, but, were Detroit, everyone wants to play here...for pennies. " -
you left out Sheahan... .. And Jurco
-
happy for the local kid....cant wait to hear all the idioms from Ken Holland on why he didn't pull the trigger on trading for a glaring need....oh well I guess we'll address that Tuesday...and pigs will fly.
-
Ribeiro out...make way for Helm, Smith, 1st for Yandle... Lol, that's my package for everyone...
-
trade for Myers....sign Niskanen...i could live with that.
-
so how good is Jason Garrison? It always drives me nuts when all other teams are dealing to get better and Holland is kicking tires...
-
correct.. That is why he is back to being a prick. Av fan growing up, Ohio State player and now doesn't want to come here. My point was, if we were in play, we could have beaten that offer.
-
looks like Kesler heading to Anaheim...no doubt Helm, Smith and our 1st would have gotten it done... Kesler back to being enemy #1... @Real_ESPNLeBrun: Anaheim will trade Bonino, Sbisa plus 24th overall pick and teams will swap third-rounders once deal goes through
-
oh no! He said it! ...kick those tires! http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2014/06/red_wings_continue_exploring_t.html

I would realy applaud Kenny if he gets this done...hell, I applaud him for going after him... As long as he doesn't offer him one of those under paid "because we're Detroit" contracts. Holland needs to outbid the other GM's on this. Show us and his team that he means business and business is winning a Stanley Cup, not just making the playoffs. Give him 7 years $50M and a NTC.

I never said I didn't want Kronwall. At the time Wiz was becoming a UFA, we could've had Wiz and all our D-men. Then we probably wouldn't have had to trade for Quincey. ...which was my point in the beginning. Everyone said Wiz was overpaid. Columbus took the gamble, and its paying off. He is their leader on D and #2 scorer on the team. A gamble well worth it. My point was Holland should gamble for once and over pay, outbid others for Niskanen . It could very well be the gamble that pays off! Comparing our guys and Wiz was just that. He only makes a few more dollars than Kronner and E and brings every bit of what they do to rhe table, plus outscores them and defends his teammates. He earns every penny off it. Just imagine this team with Wiz on it the last three seasons instead of Q or K...
-
Wiz hits, stands up for his teammates, right handed, none of which Kronwall or Ericsson do...and he outscores them...you can have E, I'll take the better player. You don't need to research if the answer is obvious.

Signed Detroit re-signs Gustavsson 1 yr $1.85 mill
LeftWinger replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
hey, Jonas, I know you were hurt alot and played pretty bad the second half of the season and when we needed you to step up for average jimmy...but here's s raise...you earned it. Holland thus far has been ******* stupid... -
Manx, Manx, Manx....Wiz played 75 games last season and had 51 points a few ahead of Kronner and nearly 30 points ahead of the next guy...rookie Danny D. He only makes $750,000 more than Kronner and $1.25M more than the oft injured Ericsson...my point being, even though everyone said $5.5M was way too much for Wiz back then, he is now leading his team and outplaying all of our defenders...he also shoots right and fights for his teammates...which Kronner (who never kronwalls anymore) and Ericsson NEVER do...Wiz was only injured for less than 40 games the first season he signed in Columbus...he played 30 games in the lockout season and 75 last season... Yes, I do my research...do you think twice before you attack someone to try to look cool?
-
Dan Boyle for 2 years and Niskanen for 6... I would be perfectly fine with that.
-
Everyone thought WIz was overpaid at the time...but now he is a very well paid d-man who again is putting up some great points PLUS is RH'd and sticks up for his teammates....really wish in hindsight that Holland would have given Wiz that money instead of Columbus giving it to him. I think Niskanen would thrive here (there is always the possibility of faultering, but odds are he won't.) Holland should go after him hard. Also another note on Alfie...how effective is he going to be on the 4th line? If Holland gets his #1 scorer via trade or UFA, then signs Alfie where is he going to go? Z - D - UFA/Trade Nyquist - Weiss - Franzen Jurco - Sheahan - Tatar Miller - Helm - Abdelkader He will probably bump Miller to the 13th forward, but still, unless Franzen gets demoted (or traded (PLEASE!!!)) Alfie is on the 4th line...Babcock better not put Jurco/Tatar/Nyquist on that 4th line! CRAP! I forgot about Glendening too! See...this is bad on all points. Alfie is going to take up a roster spot that needs to be upgraded! It's just a bad idea...I never wish injury on someone, but I do hope he decides to retire due to nagging ones...

One RFA down...what to do with Callahan and Ferraro now.... AA wasn't going to make the club, he said its the NHL or Europe. Jarnkrok would have done the same thing...
