Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd
LeftWinger replied to gcom007's topic in General
If you recall, Scotty Bowman had Yzerman traded in 1994 to Ottawa....for Alexi Yashin! Yes, we'd still be talking about that one! Thank Goodness for Marian Ilitch! -
really, the only injured players this team misses are Datsyuk, Jurco and Zetterberg and Abby to an extent. The forwards that are playing now, sans Bertuzzi, are what is making this team competitive. Focus on D, D, D this July or even maybe at the draft, then if a forward pops up that you can use, then maybe check it out. We need D, D, D for sure! A legit top 2 guy and 1 maybe 2 SOLID, DEFENSIVE guys to make this team hard to play against again. I would trade for Edler, then sign Morris and Mitchell.
-
which is why Barbie Helm has become very tradable...
-
sure glad that puck went in, because refs just turned the other cheek on the hook from behind on that breakaway.
-
Bert in, Pulk out....Wings lose...sorry guys, Bert brings this team down.
-
ok, so Ken Daniels just said if Bertuzzi cannot go, Ferraro will go...f*** Bertuzzi! He brings nothing to the game!
-
Malik says that Ray Ferraro is at the Joe in anticipation of Landon possibly going tonight...hell may as well let him play! But this is Babcock we are talking about, the same guy who knew The Millers were going to be in Buffalo because they've never watched their sons play against each other, yet Babdick made Drew a healthy scratch...prick.
-
have we heard if Ferraro is going to get a shot? Smith at forward, really? Babs really hates Tootoo. Does Holland even consult him when he is offering someone a contract? First Commodore, now Tootoo.

Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd

how many "next Gretzky's" have we heard about too? I do believe Jarnkrok will have a good career, but there is no need to compare him to anyone. For Nashville's sake, I hope it works out because they traded their franchise player for him. -
This team makes us all laugh...stop bitching about it if you aren't willing to make it better by getting better players in here. Oh wait, you want to trade Kindl for Stamkos, I get it.
-
They need to get Igor and Fetisov back over here and on the staff before the fricking Iron Curtain goes back up...
-
Franzen calling out the team? Even when he is one of the guys who show up for a week or so then disappear for a month....trade him in June...He has been doing well so his value is high.
-
I can agree with that too! Besides, I have been working with capgeek regarding my scenario, and with modest raises and the trades I suggested, I cannot fit all under $68M...if we still had $71M then that would work out...oh well...
-
I do agree with the stop gap idea, but it may be needed for two to three years instead of one. Also, stop gap on the D is a great solution as well. I keep mentioning Morris and Mitchell, only as examples, just to get my point across. Sign them both to 2 year deals (ditch Kindl) and they would be a great defensive stop gap while Sproul, Ouellet, Marchenko learn the NHL game with tons of time in GR and spot duty in Detroit. I still think Holland should dangle that 1st round pick out there this June. With the likelihood of it being a top 10, I think the return could help us out tremendously! More so than drafting a player at that spot. I could get on board with a Heatley signing as well. But the problem we are going to have is, at the forward position, not even including the UFA's (which I would only want Legwand back) we will need to add by subtraction first. Too many forwards already and more coming without exemptions. I have not been one to beat the "Trade Weiss" drum, but with Legwand, I think Weiss could be asked to waive his NTC and submit a few teams he would be willing to go to. I think he would be a nice fit in Vancouver, although they are also in turmoil. I don't mention Vancouver because of the Kesler aspect either, but I could see possibly a trade for a Burrows and or Edler. Wonder what would have to be added to a package of our 1st and Weiss in order to land Edler and Burrows? I am sure it would cost more, but what really? We still have too many centers and even if Weiss were to be traded, there is still Andersson, Ferraro and Helm that would all be vying for that 4th line center. Not sure if we'd have enough cap room, but what a different team this would be with Burrows, Edler, Heatley, Morris and Mitchell on it. We would actually need to get a better back up goalie too (less injury prone.) I also would try to send Franzen to Vancouver in that package and just re-sign Alfie for the same cap hit as Franzen... to VAN: Stephan Weiss, Johan Franzen, 1st round pick. (What else? Almqvist?) to DET: Alex Edler, Alex Burrows, maybe a draft pick in return. sign Healtey, Morris and Mitchell. Trade off Kindl and possibly Andersson or Ferraro. that would give Vancouver a nice top line of Sedin - Sedin - Franzen and a second line of Booth - Weiss - Kesler (unless they trade him)
-
the centers you'll have next season even with Z and D on the same line are Datsyuk, Weiss, Helm, Andersson, Sheahan, Glendening, Legwand. I do believe Legwand will resign with Detroit. Something has to change and someone (or two) has to go.
-
regarding the D, you are absolutely correct. Three guys I would like to see targeted via UFA are Mitchell, Klesla and Morris. I know Robidas and Orpik and Niskanen are also UFA's but the teams they are on are very much favorites to win a Cup this season. I cannot see a reason keeping Orpik AND Niskanen from both re-signing in PIT along with taking a discount to do so. If Detroit were to subtract Quincey, Kindl then add Morris and Mitchell. I am not looking for points from these guys, that is what Kronwall and to a lessor extent Smith is there for. But right now, those two have to try to focus on being a defensive type and they're offense is non existent...especially Kronwall. If you add to it, TWO defensive type guys, then Kronner and Smith can play their game. Another one that I would consider trading is Ericsson. Kronwall - Morris Ericsson - Mitchell Dekeyser - Smith

I would like to put out there the question, Do you think Chicago would deal us Hossa back? Even with the cap increase going to $71M (maybe lower) they only have $5M available cap space next season. If Holland packaged our 1st round pick (which could be a top 10) with some players, do you think a deal could be made? What would you add to that #1 pick that make sense?
-
Ok, Hossa's performance last night just proves that "The Choice" was wrong...fine, I knew it. BUT there is nothing to do about that now, except get someone to make up for it. Franzen, for all he does in spurts and spots, is not what Ken Holland thought he would be, so not only does Holland need to get a #1/#2 defenseman, he needs to throw top dollar out there to a big time scorer and game breaker. I don't know if one is available, but even with Dats and Z in the lineup, we lack that pure scorer that can take over a situation on a dime. I love that Mantha is tearing up the Q, but even if he made the club next season that is a lot to put on a rookie. Looking at the UFA's for the summer, that Hossa-type just isn't out there. We will probably have a top 12 if not top 10 draft pick, and that would do wonders in a trade package to help acquire one, but who? Anyhow, not to derail this thread I will save those comments for the other thread concerning next season's needs. I will comment here and saying how disappointed I am in last night's performance. Did I expect a win? Not really, but I did expect some compete. I didn't expect more overplaying pucks by Howard, I didn't expect to be embarrassed so much, I didn't expect to yet again give up a back breaking goal in the last 20 seconds of the period...or wait, did I? It's a sad day for me to watch this team struggle and not even compete anymore. Injuries are a huge problem yes, but the D and the G are bigger issues that NEED to be addressed...along with finding that shooter.
-
ya, like Kronwall, Franzen, Ericsson, Howard... lol, Hossa with another point...glad to see Franzen is a Red Wing.
-
Benedict Arnold? Holland blew his cap on Franzen and Hudler...
-
Hossa, 2 pts. Franzen? Nice trip there Quincey, too bad you tripped the wrong Smith...nice 1st round pick.
-
Yes yes and more yes. I have mentioned him before and also think he would really help out our team. You are going to have to pay him though. No more of the Lore of the Red Wings, plus these defenders know we are in need for them. of course, we could already have him if they would've just drafted him instead of Kindl...
