Ok, after my posts in that thread, I guess I was on his bandwagon initially, mostly due to my hated for Kindl and disappointment in Commodore, but I know it wasn't too long after that he soured on me. It just seems that I have hated it from day one as much as I have disliked him the majority of the time he has been back...oh well. I should just say that I have been very disappointed in Q pretty much from day one and hope and pray he does NOT get re-signed...it still marks one of Holland's worst trades...and re-signing...

I do remember saying that stuff, doesn't mean I liked it. BUT, at the time, I absolutely HATED Kindl, and he was an upgrade over Commodore. So, I was fine with it when it first happened, I don't recall if I said that a 1st round pick was way overpayment when I said the same thing about welcoming him back, but I do believe that even though initially he would be an upgrade, I did believe that the 1st round pick was way too much for him... I know I wasn't in love from the start with the trade, but maybe saying I hated it was too harsh. I can guarantee if you look just a few weeks further after the trade I can guarantee that I absolutely hated the trade and was very VERY disappointed in the amount of money he was re-signed for and was hoping for another team to sign him to an offer sheet...

Bertuzzi would be a waste of a roster position... Also, like I said earlier, the Wings will not be a Cup contender without that #1 guy on Dats wing. They have a team full of 10-15 goal scorers at best. Franzine may have 6 now, but will not finish above 20, if he even gets there. Outside of Dats and Z, you have a team full of bottom 6 players right now. First you say we are smoking to think that adding 4 kids to the roster will help, then you say our future is on our roster and in Grand Rapids... On our Roster: Nyquist, Tatar, DeKeyser Grand Rapids : Ferraro, Sheahan, Ouellet, Sproul, Mrazek, Mantha. That's our immediate future, minus Cleary, Sammy, Bertuzzi, Alfie, Quincey, Gustavsson and buying out someone (Franzen.) Again, that is our future, but a nice 3-5 year deal on a 27-32 year old 40 goal scorer is not going to hurt and will put us near the top of the contenders list again. Re-signing Bert and just going with kids is not going to get us a Cup before Dats retires. We need that line of pure top 25 talent, then with the addition of our GR kids and kids we have already, things will look bright not only in the future, but in the present! Right now, this is not even a playoff team.

Kyle Quincey is perhaps the worst "trade" Holland has ever made... he has signed some questionable UFA's, but when it comes to trades he usually makes pretty good decisions. I hated this trade from day one, hated the re-signing and will kick Holland in the nuts (if I ever see him) if he re-signs him again.

I like the idea's the OP has, but a couple of things forgotten...Holland still has one compliance buyout available to him and also Landon Ferraro is out of options, along with having to be re-signed. This organization has put a lot of time into him to not offer him a contract and every chance to earn a spot. The buyout will be used, hopefully on Franzen (who makes the most sense to use it on.) So, add Ferraro to the roster and that still leaves an open spot for a UFA... Bertuzzi, Sammy, Cleary, Quincey, Monster and Alfie, goodbye, its over or just didn't work out the way we thought... Re-sign Danny Diesel, Tatar, Sheahan and Ferraro from the RFA list and ONLY Ericsson on the UFA list (even though I think $4M is too much, but if its what the market dictates, then so be it.) Say good riddance to Franzen (FINALLY) via the buyout. Zetterberg (6.08M) - Datsyuk (7.5M) - UFA ($11.7M Available Cap Space) Mantha ($925) - Weiss (4.9M) - Tatar (1.5M) Nyquist ($950) - Helm (2.125M) - Abdelkader (1.8M) Miller (1.35M) - Andersson ($733) - Tootoo (1.9M) Sheahan ($950)/Ferraro ($950) Kronwall (4.75M) - DeKeyser (1.5M) Ericsson (4.0M) - Kindl (2.4M) Smith (1.263M) - Lashoff ($725) Ouellet ($670) Howard (5.292M) Mrazek ($595) Yes, I still like Tootoo on this team, IMO he brings a much needed aspect to this team. Maybe Babcock will utilize him more next season when the dead weight is all gone. This roster leaves $11.7M to spend, with that amount of cash Holland could acquire that #1 winger that is so desperately needed on Datsyuk's line. The UFA's out there that would fit that bill are few and far between (not counting anyone who may become available via buyouts.) The top three are Gaborik, Heatley, Alex Steen and Vanek. All of which can be had and could ALL be looking for a change of scenery or in Gaborik's case, someone like Datsyuk to play with...There area also players like Stastny, Joe Thornton that could be had, but that would require moving a natural center to a wing. I am sure it would be fine, and I would love to see Paul Stastny on this team... I know there are still "kids" who may be close to stepping in to the NHL, but I think with Nyquist, Tatar, Sheahan, Ferraro, Ouellet and Mantha and the removal of the old farts, this team is plenty young and green enough to not be TOO young and green. I know the likes of Jarnkrok, Sproul, Almquist, Jurco etc...may see some injury call ups and lest we forget about Glendening who is also an RFA that will probably be re-signed since he is comfortably sitting in the 10th spot on the Wings prospects top 20. They have plenty of players to fill the empty spots left by the old farts and Franzine, but I cannot see the Wings getting back to an elite status with at least one elite line of top 25 NHL talent... Dastyuk needs a winger that can score 40-50 goals...whether he is out there or not, the players on this team today that are being pout on Datsyuk's line are not talented enough to even score 20 goals.

Wings do not need Quincey....Even if they give Ericsson $4M (blech!) they still have $16M in cap space to dole out. They will re-sign Tatar, Danny D, Ferraro and Sheahan (who I believe are both out of options.) They have a ton of RFA's in GR other than the two mentioned and I am not sure which ones will have options left or not. They do have cash to find a #1 defender. I hope and believe that Mantha will get a strong look next year and could be the youngest Red Wing since "The Captain." I would be fine with letting Q walk along with all the other UFA's. Keep Tatar and Nyquist here permanent. Give Sheahan, Ferraro and Mantha the other spots up front. (of course this requires buying out another contract, which I hope and pray is Franzen.) On the D you will have, Kronner, Ericsson, DeKeyser, Smith, Kindl and then the need for two more. Lashoff may or may not be here, but that still leaves room for at least one of our kids to be here permanently. Now if they land a #1 guy somehow then this mixes things up a bit. I think that makes Lashoff, Smith and Kindl expendable...

I just need to hear, Cleary and Sammy healthy scratch...that would make this day a bit brighter. Bring tootoo in too! (too)

$4M+ for Ericsson? What a complete joke! There is Holland's dumb-ass loyalty thinking again. He needs to be busy finding a #1 Defenseman, because Kronwall is not it! Kronwall doesn't even hit anymore! Quincey and Kindl are a waste of $6.2M. Quincey better NOT be re-signed and IMO, neither should Ericsson... The last time the Wings went this long without a win? 1989-90 and what happened then? Missed the playoffs...if that happens Holland should be relieved of his duties...if not sooner. I am SO mad right now, its unbelievable! I don't even enjoy watching this garbage team...at least in the 80's and early 90's you saw a team of KIDS building together and knew something special was happening. All I see here is rapid, rapid decline...

This is your Holland built team... I don't get it, he drafts awesome, but then never takes the risk to play them. I am tired of the "over-ripen" technique, while he signs useless vets. It's time to say goodbye to at least 9 of these useless players and bring the kids up. If we are gonna play bad, I'd rather have a team full of players that want to learn from their mistakes and get better, this team is just cashing paychecks and are getting worse...and worse...and worse... Do you think Pav is regretting his decision to re-sign yet?

this team needs a fire sale. Start trading these scrubs for picks or futures...or hell, a Canadian dollar! I'd even take a peso for Cleary and Sammy together. this team Holland built has only gotten worse and worse. Didn't we say that this was getting old? I am ready to ditch Holland and Babcock right now...I know its just my frustration talking, but GD it! Holland needs to make a move and Babcock needs to dress players that care and can make a difference! I guess this is what we get from a Holland built team. He can draft, but he signs garbage! Can we poach Bowman back from Chicago?

Good thing is Sammy and Cleary WILL NOT be re-signed this summer (along with Bert and Q) and Franzen can be bought out...Eaves is a UFA but I really think next season we will see Nyquist, Ferraro (who is out of options) and Sheahan, with the occasional look at a few other youngsters (including Mantha hopefully!) Quincey and Cleary 'dress up' as hockey players everynight! They just cannot play like hockey players! Their favorite song is "Everyday is Halloween" by Ministry....ack, what an insult to Minstry.

Uncle Gary has to guarantee somehow that Cindy and the Bunch get to the playoffs every year easily! How else is he going to destroy another Detroit record? This is the start of Crapburghs 20+ year playoff run...that is also why Gary put Detroit the best division...too bad Detroit is once again, so far, spoiling his plans! Tootoo will not be bought out...Franzen will. Franzen is already proving to be even more useless this again than he has the past 3! Since "The Choice" he has gotten worse and worse. I understand the Tootoo waive, because more than likely (outside of Nashville) nobody would scoop him up, but someone would ****** Franzen off of waivers. I still think he would be a great fit in Vancouver, too bad his trade value is way LOW right now! If he cannot be moved on the Deadline or at the draft or throughout the summer, he will be bought out. Too bad on Tootoo though, but I understand the roster log jam and he sees very few games. Maybe he will go to Rapids and get some quality playing time and earn his way back up come trade deadline and playoffs!

I really question Holland sometimes...why even re-sign Cleary, I mean really? Tootoo is way more important to this club than Cleary OR Sammy... btw, who is Tootoo being moved for? Is Eaves on his way back in? Who is in?
