...again, this guy would be great in a Wings Uni. but Holland wouldn't trade Franzie or Filppula...I would hate to see Smith go, but I doubt Phoenix would take a Quincey package...How about Franzie/Quincey/Almqvist? I doubt it. They'd probablay want our 1st rounder knowing that the Wings are gonna struggle to make to playoffs if at all... Don'y know if I'd risk Seth Jones (extreme tanked season) or the chance at a Ryan Pulock for Yandle...

GDT 2/1 GDT : Blues 3 at Red Wings 5 (Z with Hat Trick)

I totally agree...sure wish we had a Backes on this team.... I wonder what today's fans would think of Scott Stevens? -
Calle Jarnkrok - Does he have a chance to make next season's team?

First of all, Perry would be signed as a UFA....Ryan would be acquired with Filppula as the main cog and Burrows would be acquired with Franzie as the main cog, and since you hold him so high on your list those are hardly trading scraps... I took liberty to edit your original post.... Ryan is something we need, Perry is better than Franzen, Burrows is better than Franzen...so lets see what I have suggested.... Alex Burrows - 6'1" 188lbs. Bobby Ryan - 6'1" 207lbs. Corey Perry - 6'3" 210lbs. Riley Sheahan - 6'2" 212lbs. Calle Jarnkrok - 5'11" 174lbs. Douglas Murray - 6'3" 245lbs. Dan Dekeyser - 6'3" 198lbs. Brian Lashoff - 6'3" 212lbs. Kent Huskins - 6'4" 210lbs. So where exactly am I giving up size? Dude, its time to change this team...of course I don't expect Holland to trade Franzie or Filppula because he has a boner over them, but if Holland were to shop them, that is what I'd like to see....as long as Vancouver and Anaheim would cooperate too. But it's not like I am offering scraps for Ryan and Burrows....Franzen & Quincey (maybe prospect or pick) for Burrows and Filppula & Emmerton (maybe prospect or pick) for Ryan.... Perry, Murray, Huskins and Dekeyser will all be UFA (re)signings and Lashoff is an RFA... Its not like I am saying trade Miller/Emmerton/Kindl/Mursak for Ryan or Burrows, I realize too I am giving up important players on this team, but in my opinion the roster I created can win a Stanley Cup...our current roster will not...ever. edit: I know Cola is signed for another year, but if he isnt on LTIR then send him to GR and let him get pick off waivers. Plus I am not even saying that Burrows or Ryan are being shopped, but those would be the type of players you would expect in return for a Franzie and Filppula, especially with the Sedins liking Franzie and Selanne liking Filppula. Both of which would flourish in Van and Ana respectively...Hell if Sammy scored 30+ goals playing with the Sedins, Franzie may get 40-50...he will never get that here, ever. Filppula is a center, he is being wasted on the wing, but he is better than a 3rd line center. He would tear up Anaheim with Selanne on his wing and we need scoring wingers, not converted playmaking centers here, so Ryan and Burrows would fit that need...as would Perry in the off-season...no need to explain what need Dekeyser and Murray would fill... -

The only silver lining to tanking is Seth Jones...but there is a silver lining to just making the playoffs and getting the 17th or 18th pick....Ryan Pulock. 6'0 211lb Right handed defenseman...if Holland trades this 1st rounder for another Quincey or drafts another soft Euro, he is dead to me! He will need to be fired. -
Gee I wish Flip would score like that now!
-
Wild getting tossed around? Rupp is a huge man up the middle...cap hit is a wash if Palmieri gets to the bigs...I guess it's just a move to get bigger...Too bad for Rupp, because I think the Rags are one of the favs this year...
-
I think Kenny better get his ass on the phones right now!
-
Who is the "They" you speak of? Are you saying Holland wouldn't or Anaheim wouldn't...I think even if Anaheim offered Holland Ryan, he wold still not trade him, because Holland is God and everyone he says is going to make it in Detroit stays in Detroit (gets overpaid) and ends up not getting any better in Detroit... Ryan would flourish here and Filppula would flourish there...its a no brainer...Trade Flip and others for Ryan....get it done!

Cleary's time with Detroit is just up...He may have some more to give, but he needs to give it elsewhere because the role he has been given here is not good for him. He is not a top 6 guy on this team, I wouldn't even give him top 9 minutes on this team. He should move on to another team and maybe the fresh start will wake him up again. He is in the same boat as Franzie, they both need to move on for a fresh start they are just dragging this team down. They need to go...
-
Gee, I have been off the Cleary bus for a couple of years now, nice to see the folks catching on...I do agree though, he is worse now than he has ever been...Before I just didn't like him on the top 6, but now I don't like him on this team. Either waive him or trade him for a draft pick...maybe he can go to a young team a be a vet. leader in the lockeroom...maybe. Either way he MUST NOT BE RE-SIGNED!!!

Yuck... besides Cola is here for two years and White is a UFA this off season...I understand you are going by not signing anyone or trading for anyone, BUT this team is hot garbage and they need to trade a few commodities in order to tunr this around ALONG WITH bringing up some kids... Trade Franzen, Filppula, Quincey, Emmerton and Kindl this year. Buy out Sammy/Bertuzzi next year, let Cleary, Mursak, Miller and White walk in the off season. Which kids come up all depends on what you get in return for the trades... If I had my way and Anaheim/Vancouver would agree to a trade it would look like this: Bobby Ryan - Datsyuk - Corey Perry Alex Burrows - Z - Brunner Abby - Helm - Tootoo Eaves - Jarnkrok - Sheahan Kronwall - Douglas Murray Smith - Ericsson Lashoff - Dekeyser Huskins then whoever makes the 13th/14th forward is up to the kids to win it... -
This is what is funny: "Wings were tired from back to back games..." Really? Thats your excuse? Go back 24 hours, Wings just beat the Blues and eveyone was saying how great the Wings played and how the out hustled and out worked St. Louis... Think about that....Wings beat the Blues (after Blues played the night before) and the Wings are great, the Blues don't get the luxory of the same excuse of being tired....Jackets beat the Wings (after Wings played the night before) and the Wings were tired, there's no way the Wings played crappy enough to lose to the Jackets, right? Hogwash! The Wings BARELY beat the Jackets last time! This team is in serious trouble....The only reason the Wings beat the Blues is because of a phantom 5:00 major to Backes...sure they payed better than game 1, but this team is gong nowhere adn nowhere fast. Someone above mentioned trading Flip, he IS one of our only tradeable assets that could garner us a good return...We have the upper hand in trading him to Anaheim due to his relationship with Selanne. If indeed, Bobby Ryan is on the outs then make a deal! Package some things together, get Ryan here to play with Datsyuk. I like Flip, but this team looks MUCH better with Ryan on Dats wing instead of Flip, who would look great centering Selanne...it's a win win for both teams! Ryan - Dats - Bert then in the off season go hard of Corey Perry! Or hell, come up with a blockbuster that gets you BOTH Perry and Ryan now....it's time for a change in Detroit, this sorry old team isn't going to get it done...

The Blues should be LIVID! If Detroit got screwed like that, this forum would be lit up with conspiracy and cheating and Bettman... They Blues lost two valuable points with that non-penalty. I like to win, but don't like to be handed the win ala Pitt in 2009. You and I have had our differences in the past, but this is dead on. If the Wings go screwed that way, we all would be calling for somone's head! I do agree with the NO goon hockey too. I wish upon wishes that we had more players like Backes on this team....too bad for your loss, but I am sure you will make it up this season while Detroit continues to play like the local squirt team in town....
-
Like I said before, Babcock should sit Cleary and make the 4th line Miller - Emmy - Eaves. Then have the 3rd line Abby-Helm-Tootoo....
-
Mursak is done here and Tatar/Nyquist will be/should be trade bait.
-
Dump E, Q and Kindl before next season. Give Lashoff his job, sign DeKeyser, re-sign Huskins and go after a top pairing guy.
-
Increases his trade value.... Honestly though, if this wasnt stuck with Sammy and Cleary, I think Emmy would make a solid 4th center with Eaves and Miller. That would make our third line Abby-Helm-Tootoo.
-
I think if.McCollum takes a poop, forget getting a goalie, just bring up M-Raz...he could possibly steal Jimmy's job.. Yes that is my nickname for him M-Raz.
-
Wtf, is Helm a china doll now?
-
basically if Seattle gets one and another Western/Mid Canada team, then Detroit/Columbus and Nashville can go East....If just Seattle and then Quebec, still Detroit and Columbus can go East so I am all for it... Just hope that they don't put two new teams East....
-
Whatever gets Detroit in the East is fine with me...
-
I am not sure if this statement is a joke or if you are serious...
-
Nah...we can't use a player like Tootoo, he will bring nothing to this team..... There is still room on the train guys, hop aboard!
-
you are only couting the NCAA though...of all the players taken, Like the CHL had 112 sure, but the USA Leagues had 57 drafted, yes only 9 of which were NCAA, which means our U18 player developement is getting better and better and is really, not that far behind the CHL teens... In the end it's not about quantity, but quality and you can draft 120 CHL players where 40 may get some NHL time, but of those 57 USA program kids, you may get 25 with some NHL time, because they only take the best of the best from our leagues and more from the CHL, yes because the CHL is deeper so there is more to choose from...I am not saying either is greater than the other, I am just proud (being a part of USA Hockey myself as a coach) that USA Hockey is developing better and better each year, and it won't be long until USA Hockey has it's own #1 overall.....oh wait. LOL!

Funny how just two season's ago, Dallas ditched the all time leader in pretty everything and pretty much Captain America in Mike Modano because they wanted to go with a youth movement only to sign Jagr and Ray Whitney this off season....Hmmmm.....
