With cap space to clear, do Flyers become a Wings trade partner?
LeftWinger replied to Yzerfan1999's topic in General
Please Holland NO Lilja...I haven't forgiven him yet for the 2009 giveaway... -
Get this trade done!

Trade.for Ryan, sign Doan, sign Kubina....set.

Signed Red Wings re-sign Quincey: 2-years, $7.55m total, $3.775/yr
LeftWinger replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
Well with Q signed, and Howson apparently not even answering Kenny's call's, I would say if he makes the Ryan trade, signs Doan and Kubina, then the Wings will be doing very well for themselves come the trade deadline and playoffs... -

Blah...a little more than I would have liked, but whatever...if he becomes one of our top 4, I guess the $250,000 overpayment will be alright...At least we have 6 D now, wonder who the 7th will be, or are we to expect a REAL top 4 defender and have Kindl be #7... -
Red Wings make "helluva" offer for Nash, no response
LeftWinger replied to stevkrause's topic in General
I stil say we hold the trump card in Filppula when it comes to acquiring Ryan... I still think Howson is an idiot, but I guess he doesn't want Franzine either...do you blame him? BTW, to Holland this off season, for attemtpting everthing we've been complaining about him NOT doing the last 4-5 years... He is trying... -

Well, Howson is a f***in idiot....he is an idiot if he thinks he will get Nash moved for more. He will get less from the other.5 teams...lets move on Ryan, right now! -
I have been wondering the same...seems there has been zero update on his health status.
-
Hmmm, if the next move is to re-sign Abby and Q and that is it...then seriously, who gets called up to be the #7 defender? Do you think Sproul could make the jump with no GR experience? Plus, again, who is gone up front? Emmy, Mursak, Miller, Eaves would be the 4 extra forwards, two would have to go...
-
Sure would be hilarious if the players didn't agree to a salary drop and Minny had to "cut" a ton of salary! Heatly would be GONE after he told the Olsen twins that they could win! But, but, he a F**king All-Star! Oh what would centcougar do?

Ok....Brunner, better than Hudler....Sammy, better than Hudler...Tootoo, better than Hudler....seriously though if Brunner nets 20-25, Sammy nets 20-25, Tootoo reeks havoc and makes it harder to play against us, we are already better offensively than we were last season... Smith may turn out to be a 40-50 scorer...this is the year Kronner tops 40...Sammy WAY better defensively than Hudler... re-sign Abby and we lose Mursak and Emmerton probably...Nyquist will get 30 points (if not more as long as he stays in the top 6.) I am all for making the deal for Nash or Ryan, but honestly, this team doesn't suck, they have a TON of young heart and enthusiasm...more so that they have had in a LONG LONG time....hey guess what, back up goalie is better than last year too! BTW Howard is healthy, remember last season when he was healthy? He was leading all the talks in the Vezina department... I think Kronner really steps it up this season to become the leader he was touted to be when they drafted him...Smith will get heavy nods for Rookie of the Year (be nice to beat out that guy from Minn. I'd ) and I really think this Brunner kid is gonna surprise a lot of people...we won't know until this is the final roster...would like Doan and Nash/Ryan...but if not, then I think we'll still make the playoffs and along the way make some loud noises! I think if Franzine stays he needs to get 40 goals in order to secure his spot on the top line...this the year for him to prove he is that top line scorer... speaking of "the year," lest we forget Filppula is in a contract year and will be looking to earned $5M+ on his next one, so you never know, he may top 70-80 points...life is good in Hockeytown. Even with losing Lids and Stu....we took more steps forward than we did back... edit: As a matter of fact, the talk is who is gonna replace Datsyuk when he retires, where is he gonna come from...well if he stays, look no further than Val Filppula...I know I talk about trading him, but if he remains a Wing and signs a "career" contract like Kronner, he will be the #1 center in a few years...

signed Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr
LeftWinger replied to Tim.D's topic in General
...again, I love this signing. Jordin Tootoo is the type of player this team has been missing...and guess what? Unlike the Drake signing where it was a 1 year last hurrah, Jordin is 27, signed for 3 years already PLUS he will probably finish his career here (5 more after this contract maybe?) as most players who come here do. No doubt if Stuart didn't have the family issues, he'd be signed here for a career ending contract. I have a feeling Sammy will end his here as well. It's crazy how all these players can go to teams to "hope" the rebuild takes only a few years...I know Detroit cannot sign ALL the players, but it seems there are two types of players in this league...players that bounce around for the money and players who sign somewhere to win for the rest of their careers...not many teams have the Resume of the Detroit Red Wings when it comes to winning and consistency. There will be certain players who will regret NOT signing in Detroit...but Tootoo will NOT be one of them. He is here til the end of his career, guaranteed. Especially if during his 3 year contract Detroit sniffs a Cup Final or wins a Cup. Again I say welcome to Hockeytown Jordin! What took you so long? -
Nobody "liked" Scotty either....Not saying that Babcock is as good as Scotty, but if Holland or Ilitch had ANY incling that Mike Babcock was hindering the team from landing quality talent, Mike Babcock would be castrated...
-
Ahhhhh, but alas, this is Holland m.o.....dano. I am not advocating a signing, but in no way would I be surprised if he did....
-
I jut don't know what Kenny is waiting for....Doan? Semin? He is in on the Nash trade talk, waiting for that? I wish we as fans knew more! I still think this team needs that top scorer not named Franzine. Semin or Nash would be that sniper. Ryan would too, Doan would be a 20-30 goal grinding forward. Semin would definitely top 40 with Datsyuk as would Nash (or possibly 50) If somehow Kenny could trade for Nash AND sign Semin, we're in! (Ilke Doan and Ryan as well, or hell any combo! I just hate the wait!) Each day that goes by seems like Holland isn't going to do anything else....ugh!
-
So, according to the DETNEWS article today that the bidding for Doan is starting at $7.5M, if so, take a long walk off a short pier! This is the problem I don't get...owners want to cap the spending, yet pay outrageous amounts of salary just to outbid someone else! Shane Doan is NOT worth $7.5M....If he get that offer and takes it, then he is all about the money...unless a contender offers it to him, and I hope its not Holland....Make the trade for Nash or Ryan, they are at least YEARS younger and will be worth the money long term...No more than $5.5M for Doan...anything else would be asinine!
-
Ya, it prolly means he is gonna wait until training camp, re-sign then when November comes and they dont get what they want from the voters, he will then ask to be traded or just put everyone through all this again next July...
-
So, So, So, SO tired of this bulls***! Just f**king stay in Loserville, Arizona...where they'll pay you $3M to re-sign because they cannot afford a higher payroll. I wouldn't doubt if Bettman told all upper level UFA's to avoid Detroit or they will be fined or contracts null and voided...what Bettman really wanted with parity was keep Detroit away from the Cup...he already changes rules to give Detroit the disadvantage...Probably told the Olsen Twins to stay away too...
-
You forgot the sarcasm tag....I will win the lottery before they win a Cup... I don't get it....
-
Well then move on, make the trade for Nash or Ryan....come october if.Doan decides to s***, then he can get off the pot and sign here.
-
So is it correct that I am hearing that the owners want a Cap on salries and to do away with long contracts? All the while its the owners that are overpaying these players AND giving them 13 year contracts? So if those are two of the issues, what part is the players fault? Reminds me of UAW bitching about paying workers so much to be on unemployment, yet the companies are the ones who agreed to those terms...

As The Hockeytown World Turns....So Are The Days Filled With Crickets... Why all of a sudden this off season, these guys are taking so long to decide where to play? It just seems like everything is taking so long this year...drives me nuts!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6j4JBkqsFG8 While pondering the idea of not getting anymore D help other than Q once he is awarded a contract, it would be nice to see this kid in Detroit for some games here and there (if it's possible)...he is the next D in line on the prospects list behind Smith and l am pretty impressed with him. His highlight vid looks just as impressive as the Justin Schultz one that everyone has watched...at 19 years old he is 6'3" but only 186lbs. By time he hits 21 I am sure he will weigh more...he is big and a right handed shot...that shot looks pretty impressive from what I see here. I think the Wings D is in good shape, Suter-less and when this kid is ready to be here fulltime, I think he will become a very solid and dominant player...

Argh! Stop bumping this thread! Parise + Wild + Suter = Epic Kronwalling.....

Yahtzee!
