Interesting event....Trevor Lewis just arrived in Detroit with only a small equipment bag and two sticks...he came in from his hometown of Salt Lake and Detroit was his final stop....could there be a trade in the works with LA? I have a few pics of his stuff, but not sure how to up them on my phone....none the less he is in Detroit for some reason and it appears he is here for some light workouts.... Edit: figured it out Interesting personal codes on his sticks....

Wings & Yandle twitter-rumors? Believable?
LeftWinger replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
No to trading Smith...I don't think Holland would do that, ever. Holland has been waiting for Smith to come up for a long time (as has Babcock) the only time I EVER want to hear the name Smith mentioned in trade talks, is if the name Weber is coming back. Period. I do trust Holland's mind, I don't think he would trade Smith... -
Wings & Yandle twitter-rumors? Believable?

I would hate to see Filppula go (although being a realist, I know he is one of only a few assets other teams would want) and I really would like to see what Nyquist can do with top 6 minutes, BUT, you don't get the opportunity for a Yandle (or a Bobby Ryan) all the time. Yandle has 4 more years left on his contract (I think) and he is fairly cheap. He is only 25 and has YET to hit his prime. I would rather trade Fanzine and Tatar instead, but if we did get Yandle, I think it would be better than signing Suter (other than the losing assets part.) I will say what a lot of you guys have told me season after season, Ken Holland forgotten more about hockey talent than most of us know, so if he feels that Fil and Nyquist are expendable, I trust him. Especially if it brings in Yandle... -

Speaking of twitter, a tad off subject, but today my 5 year old is having ******** surgery and my avatar, Katie Morgan, sent me a personal tweet giving best wishes to him! She said, Hang in there! Lol! Ok, back to topic....trade.Franz not Flip! Really? T3sticle is censored? Lol! -
All this fricking debate about how he left for money...etc...let's revisit the situation.....December 2002, Holland offers Fedorov a 5 year $55M contract, Fedorov asks if they can wait until the end of the season because he is going through a divorce and in the process of hiring a new agent....fast forward to July 2003, Fedorov goes to Holland and wants the deal, Holland says the deal is off the table and now there is a 4 year deal for less money (I forgot the amount)...Fedorov wants the original deal....Holland says no deal, Anaheim offers Fedorov the same 4 year deal and off he went...He didn't leave for more money....he just wanted the offer he was offered in December... Fedorov #91, to the rafters!

If Fedorov or Ozzie won't be retired, then neither will Dats or Z... BTW, Crymson, you say he could not lay claim to being an absolute cog in the team or be an organizations Heart and Soul....take Fedorov off the 90's teams...nowhere NEAR the success and they would not have won 97 and 98 Cups without him...barely even 2002. Fedorov damn well deserves his number retired here, more so than Ozzie, Dats or Z. When Dats wins a Hart or Z wins a Hart or scores 60 goals, then we'll talk with them in the same sentence as Fedorov. Do me a favor, put Dats and Z in the clutch and grab era...I am not saying they arent great players in their own right, but if Dats and Z are already getting consideration for retirement, Fedorov is a shoe in. The ONLY thing is if Illitch is bitter over him leaving on the terms he left...which was Illitch's fault anyhow...

signed Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr
LeftWinger replied to Tim.D's topic in General
I am! Hell, and he isn't 35...But PLEASE NO WHISTLES!!!!! -
I still think Detroit will better Chicago, the will give St. Louis a run, but just may fall short and finish 2nd in the Central....and we'll have to listen to cprice all over again....blah!

Who is your favorite player from a team besides the Wings?
LeftWinger replied to CaliforniaWingsFan's topic in General
ya, same reason's Semin has! I too, would have loved to have him here last season...it would have been a bit different outcome I do believe...maybe not a Cup, but different for sure! Anyhow, I have always been a fan of Andrew Ladd...he ALWAYS killed Detroit when he was in Chicago, and I still would LOVE to have him on this team! -
Frick Doan! You want someone who is gonna help? Call Arnott... (not that we need another forward now anyhow...Just go with the three we already signed...Brunner, Tootoo, Sammy and call it.)
-
Got to....just have to concede that Kyle Quincey was our "Big" off season signing....I like Tootoo, but it sure was more exciting when he was a prelude for what was about to happen! Which of course didn't happen...It's ok though, I am fine with having the yutes come in...Holland will not show some balls and will not get rid of Franzine...I guess every year from now on he will hope that "playoff Franzine" shows up...which he hasn't since he signed his lifer contract....we'll see. Hey since Hudler is gone ( ) he'll give me someone to blame the woes on throughout the season! Franzine Sucks and He is Lazy! ©

Holland losing his moxie? Is Detroit slipping as UFA destination?
LeftWinger replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
Who needs overpriced UFA's? In 3-4 years, Smith will be better than Suter and one of our young Euro's will be netting more goals than Parise/Semin or Doan... Let's get Abby signed, sort out the bottom 6 and bring on the season! -
SO, honestly, who goes? Emmerton/Mursak/MIller/Eaves? Two are out for sure. I think MIller and Eaves have earned NHL jobs and should not be the #13 and #14 forwards, but they are not going to bump Tootoo, Sammy, Brunner or Nyquist. Miller and Eaves are only 27 years old, so its not like they are aging forwards, Emmerton and Mursak are younger and are more apt to filling those roles. Honestly, I would trade three players for some picks... I am conceding that we are not getting Doan or Ryan, so I am just going with re-signing Abby and dumping three forwards. This will be a hard decision on which one to keep as your 13th & 14th. Like I said Miller and Eaves ARE NHL players and should be treated as such. They should be dealt to a team that will give them icetime. I'd hate to lose either of them, but what are you gonna do? Another thing is, Sheahan is close to be a regular here as well. (I'd STILL love Holland to give Welsh an offer sheet too. Even though though that would make even a bigger log jam in the bottom 6.) I'd love a line of Welsh - Sheahan - Abdelkader. If we are talking future here and looking past this season, trading all four Miller/Eaves/Emmerton/Mursak and sinking some cash into Welsh would help that future out. (Not inclluding the extra draft picks we'd get for those four.) I am still kinda hoping Holland picks up Kubina to help out the PP...Yes, I have also conceded that we aren't getting Yandle either. Here is my proposal....trade Miller/Eaves/Emmerton/Mursak for draft picks to teams that can use them, sign Jeremy Welsh to an offer sheet and then pick up Kubina to shore up the D and then hope things gel. ( I wonder if Carolina would be interested in a Cleary package for Welsh's rights? He would be a good leader on that team...) Anyhow....bottom 6: Sammy - Helm - Bertuzzi Tootoo - Abby - Cleary (Welsh/Sheahan) That is what I would like to see since we are pretty much done making moves (unless we pick up Kubina.) BTW - When Holland inks DeKeyser in the Spring, we will all be saying Schultz who? I know I jump around a spout about getting this big name or that big name, but looking at the kids coming up and even this years draft(which I am VERY excited about for the first time in a LONG time,) I really think all will be fine... EDIT: Here is my roster and I am going forward with it! FORWARDS Damien Brunner ($1.350m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Johan Franzen ($3.955m) Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Gustav Nyquist ($0.875m) Mikael Samuelsson ($3.000m) / Darren Helm ($2.125m) / Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) Danny Cleary ($2.800m) / Justin Abdelkader ($1.250m) / Jordin Tootoo ($1.900m) Jeremy Welsh ($1.900m) / Riley Sheahan ($0.900m) / DEFENSEMEN Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Pavel Kubina ($4.550m) Kyle Quincey ($3.775m) / Ian White ($2.875m) Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m) / Brendan Smith ($0.875m) Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) / GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) Jonas Gustavsson ($1.500m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $62,621,212; BONUSES: $647,500 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $7,578,788

Well, if Doan is out...now what? We already know (even though it will be for the better of the team) that Holland WILL NOT acquire Bobby Ryan...he has to re-sign Abby and figure out who he is losing up front. Quincey was our big acquisition and even thought the off season started out nice with some role players, Holland has failed on all accounts to keep this team a legit contender...he refuses to outbid anyone or make the sacrifice's needed to better his team (Yandle.) The new Wings logo is "Wiz was right..." I know these guys are getting overpaid, but sometimes you just have to do just that to win...
-
This signing DOES indeed show that Semin just wanted money...The Olsen Twins have a slim to none chance to win the Cup in Minny, but in Semin's case, slim just left the building... Too bad Holland is afraid to spend any Cap (unless it is an aging, returning Swede.)
-
Wow, a lot of meetings coming up for Doan, but not in Detroit....Holland prolly offered him.$3M. Holland.....shame on you. Grow some balls!
-
Holland is curled up in the fetal position sucking his thumb crying out "why wont anyone take less money to come to.Detroit anymore!?!?" Holland....if you dont land Doan and trade for Ryan, you need to quit.
-
at Kenny....he is fail. Epic. An off season that started out so promising too. Lowball some more players and GMs. Hey Ken, a player can make more than Pav, ya know? Damn him and his "team" salary cap. Enjoy this roster!
-
Why choose only one of them? you make the trade for Ryan (younger, makes less money, still signed for three years) and that increases your odds of getting one of the others in the offseason next year. Make the deal for Ryan and posiibly have two of the three in 2013. It would be great to land all of them, but now thats dreaming! Odds are, whereever Ryan ends up, one of them will sign there next year...if they aren't traded at the deadline.
-
In all honesty, the only way Holland signs BOTH is if there is a trade that clears a few forwards out. As it stands, Mursak and Emmy are the two odd guys out and will waived/traded(after Abby is re-signed.) If Holland gets Doan and or Semin, that will push another forward out and that will be Miller or Eaves or both. I think if Holland makes a trade for a D man to clear up the forward log jam, then he may get both. I believe it will be either or, but not both. It may be neither. Like someone mentioned Tootoo WILL be in the lineup, as will Nyquist and Brunner and Sammy. By that thinking, it looks like Miller/Eaves will be the 13th/14th forwards anyhow. I think they both have earned NHL starting jobs, so if there is a trade, I think those two will be involved as well. I wouldn't doubt if Cleary is included in a trade either. He may not garner too much, but he would be a great leader for a young team. Maybe to an Edmonton or Winnipeg for a pick....
-
Wait, Hudler leaving is a loss? but...but...but...we have playoff Franzine...
-
and in somewhat related news, it seems Ken Holland isn't the only Illitch toadie GM that likes to bring back aging and somewhat benine players, Omar Infante is a Tiger again...hoo.ray. Ken Holland cannot seriouisly be ok with this roster...he must be frontin'
-
I dont.wanna trade Flip, but Anaheim will want him to play with.Selanne. Also, Ryan is 100,000,000 times better than Franzine....
