Hmmmm....it's kind of hard to find one.....hmmmm..... Igor Larionov 41 Chris Chelios 40 Brett Hull 37 Dominik Hasek 37 Steve Yzerman 36 Steve Duchesne 36 Luc Robitaille 35 Fredrik Olausson 35 Brent Gilchrist 34 Brendan Shanahan 33 Sergei Fedorov 32 Nicklas Lidstrom 31 Kris Draper 30 Man, these guys were old! I know they are mostly HOF's, but you asked if we remembered the last time a team with the core of mid 30's won a Cup.....

Not to mention, if Flip isn't traded he is in a contract year so he should top 60 points this year!!!
-
Well considering that all news reports that have come out have said that Holland has inquired about: Ryan, Nash & Yandle along with Doan, I would say Kenny is thinking that way, but it all depends on what the prices are....
-
If they get Doan, could you imagine the energy this line would have? Doan - Helm - Tootoo They'd probably never assemble that line, but yikes! Well in this case, that would be good! Kubina is next....I have no doubt...
-
I would say this is very interesting! I hope Holland doesn't low ball him..... Sorry....how about Datsyuk/Zettterberg/Filppula/Smith/ Seven 1st round picks....
-
Filppula/Mursak/Tatar/2nd round for Ryan Franzen/Emmerton/Quincey/Cleary/2nd round for Yandle
-
It's a crap team....no top 6 scorer we needed....no legit #1 defender.... I trust Kenny will NOT make this his roster come October, especially with $16M to spend...his excuses for years were that they were up against the Cap and couldn't get anyone...no excuses now...he tried hard for Suter, but just because he didn't get him don't cower away with your tail between your legs...Holland MUST make this team better TODAY...if this is his roster in October because he low-balled everyone then something must be done....
-
I see on TSN.ca the Parise/Suter crap that shows them in their jersey's with A's on the front of them...probably another reason they didn't pick Detroit, no guaranteed A on their Chest.... Ok, back to the topic....(just didn't want to bump thier threads back to the first page....screw em!) BTW - Looking at their s*** eating grins really turns my stomach...I think I can honestly say Crosby has dropped to #3 on my hate list.....f***!

Uh oh....cue the centcougar sighting in 3...2...1...

Which is why Holland should make a deal for Ryan...he would start the next generation. He may influence the likes of Getzlaf and/or Perry next July...Same could be said about Nash too, he would have some influence throughout the league as well...one would think..

Detroit has inquired, but so has 28 other teams I imagine...to what extent Detroit is interested remains to be seen. I like that tidbit about his family living here, I don't believe he played for the USA development program, but that doesn't mean he hasn't live here before. If he does indeed have some close friends that still live here, then it would maybe excite him a bit if he got traded here... I just wish Holland would make this deal...I just wish I knew exactly what Anaheim was asking for outside of Filppula...again, its just a long waiting game of nervousness and anxiousness! I am about 2% sure a trade will happen...which is not sure at all!
-
Ok, we have to remain calm. Most of us got over excited about Schultz....Parise....Suter....none of those guys could be swayed enough to cut family ties...Let's just hope Doan chooses us over LA or San Jose (or any other contender for that matter.) I am so used to being snubbed by now that I am almost expecting it and if/when it is annouced that Shane will be a Red Wing, I just may scream with excitement. Almost like waiting to exhale....tick...tick...tick...tick...argh!

Didn't want to start a new thread... We know Q is going to arbitration, but what is the hold up on Abdelkader I wonder? Is he looking at offers? Is he waiting for all the dust to settle? I really would hate to lose him, I am looking forward to seeing him team up with Tootoo for some chaos out on the ice...

Ok, lets hope Doan isn't asking for too much and we can get him! I'd still love a trade, but I am sure if that happens it won't be until August or September... Get Doan....Get Kubina....Get Abdelkader....Decide of Quincey's award....I would still LOVE to poach Jeremy Welsh for some great depth! But damn, other than Mursak and Emmerton, who will be pushed out? Miller? Eaves? I could try to trade Cleary for Welsh but I doubt that happens...I will leave Welsh a fantasy to have, it would be nice though... FORWARDS Shane Doan ($5.500m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Johan Franzen ($3.955m) Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Mikael Samuelsson ($3.000m) Damien Brunner ($1.350m) / Darren Helm ($2.125m) / Jordin Tootoo ($1.900m) Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) / Justin Abdelkader ($1.250m) / Danny Cleary ($2.800m) Gustav Nyquist ($0.875m) / Drew Miller ($0.838m) / Patrick Eaves ($1.200m) DEFENSEMEN Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Pavel Kubina ($4.000m) Ian White ($2.875m) / Kyle Quincey ($3.750m) Brendan Smith ($0.875m) / Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m) Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) / GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) Jonas Gustavsson ($1.500m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $66,783,712; BONUSES: $462,500 CAP SPACE (24-man roster): $3,416,288 I know this is a 24 man roster, but the final cut can come at training camp....it's just too hard to let Eaves or Miller go....

signed Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr

Because unlike Mary Kate and Ashley and a premadona College defenseman, Tootoo knows enough to go where the winning is...poor poor Suter. I hope his marriage survives 13 years of losing... -
Semin - Datsyuk - Doan Even better! I admit the Ryan trade is a remote, VERY remote possibility, and odds are Holland stops at Doan or Doan and Semin. Which would be fine and dandy with me! But until we DON'T have Bobby Ryan, a fan can wish....

That was a great video! What memories! The footage of him fighting Coxe and to see #19 and #17 watching..damn I miss that line! Then the goal scored with Fedorov and Konstantinov congratulating him, hell almost forgot he played with those two! He was right there with the start of this dynasty...if he only would've keep himself clean enough to re-sign here instead of leaving... Begs you to question, would he have seen icetime under Scotty Bowman? Ya never know...but ya, definitely one of the greatest Red Wings of all time...at least in the eyes of the fans...

Had the pleasure of meeting him plenty of times...the year he came back and couldn't travel to Canada, he would always come to DTW and fly out to meet the team, I may have been a bit of a stalker, but I would check the flights to see which one he was on and always "ran into him" there. It got to the point to where if I missed him one time, he's ask me the next time I saw him, what happened... Great Great Guy, depsite all his personal issues...wish he never left us for Chicago and I sure wish he never "left" us for Heaven... I love ya Bob, sorry you never got to drive the electric cart!

Here is the offseason of choice after being one of the snubbed teams by Mary Kate and Ashley: Shane Doan Peter Mueller Pavel Kubina Trade, waive or do whatever to make rosters spots for these three and let's rock! I really do wish Holland had the balls to trade Filpulla for Ryan and also trade Franzine for someone else of value! But I'd be happy with just the Ryan trade and the above three UFA signings...
-
He can get us Bobby Ryan...He is not a 2nd line center here...let's call this the Adam Oates, Jimmy Carson factor, great players with great careers, yet were always playing behind someone...especially Carson, he was behind Yzerman and Fedorov...Filppula will flourish in Anaheim, especially with Selanne...Once Getzlaf leaves next year, Flip will be the #1 center out there, he will never be that here... He will command and get $5M+ next July and for the money, Ryan is more valuable at $5.1M for the next three years HERE than Val will be as the #3 center or on the wing. Maybe this won't happen and we will still have Val..that's fine too, but if Holland really wants that top 6 sniper, he must sacrifice a little depth in order to get it...whether it be Nash or Ryan, he has to do what gets the job done...Mursak and Tatar are ready to be in the NHL, but it won't be here, at least not for awhile...they'll get instant ice in Anaheim....here Tatar is stuck in GR and Mursak will probably get traded or waived anyhow...and who knows, Flip may walk after this year to somewhere he can be a #1 or #2 center...all risks with no reward, trade them now and be rewarded for the next 13 years!
-
Saying Val Filppula is a wash with Bobby Ryan, you are on crack....Hey, maybe they'll trade us Ryan and a 1st rounder for Flip? Here's the problem, sure Flip and Ryan are the main cogs, but Holland will have to sweetin the deal in order to secure him. Throwing in two NHL ready prospects and a pick should more than entice Murray enough to trade Ryan to us...not unless Columbus offers them Rick Nash... Everything I have said is all speculation, of course, I do not know Mr. Murray, but he had said he wants a 2nd line center and some young talent...Could there be other teams with 2nd line centers they are willing to trade? Of course! I maintain that Holland has the trump in Filppula though, because of Selanne wanting to play with Flip in the NHL. He was asked last trade deadline if he would like to play with Flip and he said that when they play together on team Finland, they have great chemistry and he would enjoy playing in the NHL with him. Selanne has said he'd like to come back for another year and of course he only wants to play in Anaheim. Couple all that together and it's almost like a marriage made in Heaven. Murray gets Flip AND Selanne...PLUS he gets two NHL ready prospects AND a pick...We get Bobby Ryan, 24 year old phenom who is signed for three more years at a great rate and who will help usher in the next 20 years of dominance! We get younger, get a player at a position WE NEED, they get a player at a position THEY NEED and all are happy... Both sides would be crazy not to do this deal....Now, not unless Holland wants Nash more than Ryan, then we are talking a whole new ballgame!
-
Fil would bring you Ryan...plain and simple... Filppula, Mursak, Tatar, 2nd rounder gets us Bobby Ryan....MAKE THE FLIPPIN TRADE!

I enjoy your enthusiasm! I would love Nash here (or Ryan) and of course we will have to go at Weber with 1000 times the effort we did with Suter...Holland should offer Weber the absolute TOP dollar....TOP! If Holland pulls Nash or Ryan out of his hat....OMG! I say do it...do it now! -
Jarnkrok, Pulkkinen, Jurco, Frk, Sheahan, Sproul, Tvrdon, Athanasiou, Bodin, McKee...We Won't Miss Mursak, Tatar or Andersson...

There are lots of options out there. More than we even know. I am not sure Holland will ever move Franzen. He chose to sign him over Hossa and it just seems that if he got rid of him, it would be like admitting a mistake...I wish he'd move Franzen, but....sigh.... Del Zotto would be good and so would McIlrath...I wanted Holland to draft McIlrath but the Rangers swooped him up before he got to Holland...I don't think Holland would've drafted him, but ya, I would love Dylan in a Wings uniform...definitely a youth movement. Same went for Joe Morrow a few years ago, but Pitt took him a couple of picks ahead of Detroit too...
