signed Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr
LeftWinger replied to Tim.D's topic in General
Tatar will be best suited traded somewhere...as will Andersson. There are plenty of prospects left to where we won't miss them. Not including the guys Holland drafted in June...those guys are real diamonds and this will be the best draft class in a long time. I can see almost all of them being NHL players when it's their time. Trading a Mursak, Tatar or an Andersson today will not effect us in 5 years. And in those 5 years, we'd still have Bobby Ryan or Rick Nash on this team tearing it up! Back on topic, again, Tootoo brings a dimension to this team that has been lacking for a long time. I am happy with this signing, he is gonna bring tons of excitement to this team...I just hope fans don't bring any whistles... -
Yes, because Doan makes them much better up front... Honestly, it's either Doan or Semin, not both. If Holland signs Doan, then dumps Mursak and Emmerton, when he re-signs Abdelkader there are still 15 forwards. Meaning one of Miller or Eaves are the odd man out. Not unless Holland plans a trade of someone, like Cleary. I'd prefer Doan over Semin because he could help keep the flies off Datsyuk while he is out there, but then again, then potential chemistry with Dats/Semin is intriguing... The only scenario that Holland gets BOTH Doan and Semin causes a lot of current Red Wings a job. You have to figure Sammy and Tootoo are here to stay. The extras are Emmy, Mursak, Miller & Eaves followed by Cleary. Maybe Holland will work on a package trade for a top defenseman, as long as it doesn't include Smith. So if Holland gets Doan, who goes? If Holland gets both Doan/Semin who goes? I'd hate to lose our good bottom 6'ers, but Doan and Semin on this team makes it far better than what it would be without them...Does Nyquist have any free passes left to be sent down? Not that I want him to be, but if he does then that would be one way of clearing a spot....this is the tough part of being a GM, Miller/Eaves/Emmy/Mursak and given a ton to this team, but when players like this are available, and you have a chance to get them, you take it...the best thing Holland can do is, trade those guys to teams that can give them playing time...you won't get much for players that teams know you have to get rid of, but a pick is better than nothing...or risk putting them on waivers, which can be an advantage if they clear then they will still be in your organization...but Holland likes to take care of his players and will try to find homes for these guys...

I would still like to see Mueller signed here...24 years old, loads of potential, and with his health could be had for pretty cheap. That is a win/win situation all around...also Daniel Winnik is a solid winger that is a stay at home player that would add some dimension to this club... I like both of these guys more than Mursak or Emmerton...they'd cost more though...but these are just two examples proving that there are plan c's out there that would help our team...

signed Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr

All the Tootoo naysayers are going to be pleasantly surprised this season! He just came of a career year and that was in and out of the lineup. I am sure he may be one of the guys rotating with Miller and Eaves, but if he finds chemistry with Helm and Abby (or wherever he ends up) he will surely find himself in the lineup more than out. I cannot wait for that freight train to level Parise followed up by a Kronwall! Holland should sign Barch for GR and bring him up each game against Minnesota so when our guys target miss prissy too good for Detroit, Barch will be there to whoop the ass of anyone wanting to step up to defend her... -
Gonna throw an under the radar name out there: Alexandre Picard... Defense 6'3" 215lbs. He isn't your star studded defender, but he seems like a big stay at home guy who just goes about his business he is still young at 26, has 253 NHL games experience...could be a guy to come in to round out the bottom pairing if Holland sticks with Q's awarded contract and cannot land a big name via trade... he is a UFA and only made $600,000 last season in Pitt. Any thoughts?
-
I bet if he gets snubbed by Doan, he will wait for the CBA, as will most other GM's before even trying to trade for someone like Nash or Ryan or Yandle...
-
No he is not a Zetterberg...he is though a whole different Dimension to this team...he would be the power forward we have missed since Shanny left. He would NOT be on the 3rd line. He would get at least 2ns line minutes, if not play on Pav's wing. The joke is, standing pat and giving Tatar and Andersson playing time....that is the joke. Tatar and Andersson should be moved in a package deal for Ryan or Yandle or Nash... Detroit does not rebuild, they reload. It's been their winning model since the 90's. A steady influx of UFA vets and bringing kids up...Nyquist and Smith are the kids this year, Doan SHOULD be the UFA. He is here for 2-3 years, Holland goes hard after Perry or Getzlaf and Weber next off season, and then implements Plans b,c,d,e,f-Zz. You will never see this team with all 30 and under players on it...there will always be 2 or 3 players over 35. Holland needs to trade for Ryan, sign Doan, sign Kubina, re-sign Abby and then Q if the awarded contract is feasible.
-
Doan for 3 years please....not just a one year chance at a Cup....he'll want to go where he can win a Cup, but he will need a year just to get into our system 100%. Three years $5.5M please! Still leaves plenty of cap room...we need to get these types of UFA's in here, because they attract others...If Doan comes here, has a great time and gets into playoffs, guarantee he is respected enough among the players that UFA's next July will be calling him asking about his experience and if Detroit is the place to be...I don't think Semin would have the same affect, lets say, on Corey Perry or Ryan Getzlaf or even Shea Weber as Shane Doan would...just my $.02 worth....

I see what you did there....Semin.....Happy Ending....

GD! Everytime I think about it, I am still STEAMING MAD about Suter choosing the Wild over the Wings... It was down to Detroit/Wild and he chose them....f***! This is finally sinking in so much that I am boiling! WTF is going on here? Not even a thought from Schultz, barely a thought from Parise and a late decision from Suter breaking the hearts of millions of Wings fans around the world... I dunno, maybe the last 4 days of 100 degree weather has boiled my brain ( I do work outside and it has sucked! Tonight feels wonderful) anyway, I am just so mad...and feel cheated and double crossed and stabbed in the back and given the cold shoulder... f***!!!! Sorry...but who says no to Detroit? This sucks....
-
They do have the best prospect pool, ya know? Calling centcougar....calling centcougar, whats the inside word on this?
-
We'll know something monday for sure....one of three things.... 1. Doan re-signs in Phoenix....2. He Signs here.... 3. Holland low balls again (for lack of better term) and Doan goes to Pittsburgh... If Holland does not get Doan then this is the team you will have come october...adding Q and Abby as well....

Does anyone know the absolute MOST any one player can make on a team?

signed Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr
LeftWinger replied to Tim.D's topic in General
^ I agree too...too ( ) I don't understand the hate for this guy...27, in his prime, coming off a career year (30 points) he can only help us, as long as Babcock plays him... -
I'd rather have Ryan here than Filppula and Selanne...why? Cost... Ryan is signed for 3 more years at $5.1M...Flip is UFA next July and will get $5M+ somewhere if not here...Ryan at $5.1M is far better than Flip at $5M+. I like Flip a ton! But if he is the key in getting Ryan....DO IT! Kenny.....Get it DONE!
-
We'll have McKee and Bodin in a few years...no worries about big and strong hitters... Of course LIdstrom is gonna work for the Wings over there, did anyone expect anything else? You know what I want? Someone in Russia finding the next Fedorov/Datsyuk... side note: without bumping it, I am sure glad the Suter/Parise threads are dropping off the first page....looking forward to the Kronwalling!
-
Hence acquiring Bobby Ryan...adding Shane Doan only helps this team...This guy can and will score 30+ goals playing with Pav or Z...Ryan scoring 40 is not unrealistic. Bobby Ryan is 24...trade for him then in three years tie him up for the rest of his career...Parise who? to ANA : Val Filppula, Jan Mursak, Tomas Tatar, 2nd round pick to DET : Bobby Ryan it's almost explains itself....sign Doan, Kubina, Q if the price is right... Roll On! (Getzlaf, Perry, Weber available next July) What do you mean? He offered Suter less money so he could play for your team....he did it for you!
-
Because that is their line in World Play....great chemistry! Of course would rather have Malkin Datsyuk Kovalchuk but now we are talking dream land!
-
No need to come at you anymore...you got the UFA's...yet you only quote stuff from June...where is the stuff quoting Parise when he said if it weren't for family he'd be back in NJ....sounds like he only chose minny for family... oh and right from Suter's lips he was going to pick Detroit but was talked into Minny by family and Boy George. Sounds like he only chose minny for family. I cannot argue family ties...and if they both had family in Seattle, they'd be in Vancouver right now...you got them, congrats, but don't think you won because of the Wild's stellar history or future. Detroit, Pitt, Chicago, Philly are all better places to play if you want to win on a consistent basis. The Wild have a 3 year window to win now..if they don't, it will be rebuild again and then Suter will be kicking himself for listening to his in-laws and barney rubble... For you sake, I hope you get that Cup in that window...then you can happily and deservedly come in here and gloat...but gloating because the Wild just happen to be in St. Paul and you got these two by default, doesn't win you anything...except the fact that you did say long ago that you felt they would go home to play...but if they chose Detroit, we'd have been right, if they chose Pit, they would have been right...someone was going to be right and 29 other were going to be wrong... Don't just pick and chose things to make yourself look smarter than what you are...be humble enough to admit, you only got them because of family, if it weren't for that, they wouldn't be there...they didn't pick you because you are their best chance to win consistently...so get over yourself. And no, I am not sour grapes, would've loved to have Suter, but cannot fight family ties...I feel good that he was coming here, but went with family...too bad choosing family will pretty much guarantee never winning a Cup.
-
Uh....ya, ok. Pit would never let him go! Unless he wants out... Datsyuk, Semin, Malkin top line? I could deal with that!
-
Honestly yes...Thier team is at it's best point right now...They have most of their lineup from last year and have added the bobsie twins...their window is in the first three years to win a Cup...they have to re-sign Backstrom after the season, Clutterbuck too. Heatley and Gucchi will be in the last year of their contracts and will be looking for hefty raises. Cullen and Bouchard are also due up next July...their team can get way worse in three - four years. I think if they don't win a Cup within 3 years, then team will be in anther rebuild session in 5 years (especially considering the way ownership gives up on young players too soon) and that is when I believe Suter gets divorced and unfriends Parise from facebook because he will blame his wife's family and Parise for his stupid mistake...Parise will hang in there, because he doesn't care to win...if he did he'd be in Pittsburgh right now...
-
I think Semin is out....Trade for Ryan, sign Doan, sign Kubina, wait on Q's hearing...shake rattle and roll... I hate to lose Flip, but for Ryan, yes! edit: Yes I am talking like its a done deal, because I have confidence that Holland will let loose his canon "balls" and do what needs to be done to usher this team into the next 20 years of dominance! Bobby Ryan this year, Getzlaf or Perry (or both) and Weber next year...
-
I find this funny, yet when I am forced to take a paycut and I protest or threaten strike, I am greedy in the public eye and should be happy to giveback to help save my company and mutli-million dollar CEO's who cash in stock options and give themselves million's of dollars in bonuses when they successfully get concessions...sorry, back to the scheduled topic...
-
Yes, I believe the salaries are adjusted accordingly...if the cap goes down 10% so does all salaries...I do believe...
