Still no decision from Suter. Speculation abounds.

I am in Alabama right now and am full of nervous excitement! While here all day yesterday, I got no less than 2000 tweets! Will be fitting as I am driving home, as soon as I get into Nashville, Suter will become a........Wing! Please Ryan!

Wings may trade Johan Franzen for Rick Nash?

Ya, but only if we catch him on one of his every third game, the other two he is bored....also we'll never deal with playoff Franzine...its frickin Columbus...

Shane Doan to test free agency

https://twitter.com/.../SpectorsHockey I guess he may not be so dedicated to the desert...Doan to Detroit? If no Parise, Doan would be a great option!

    Pens Targeting Suter and Parise

I didn't say I could care less either way...I would love him to be here, but if he doesn't then so be it. What can I do? If Holland can pull off a Nash blockbuster that would be even better IMO, or just as impactfull. Even if he doesn't, he could use some of that cash to entice Shane Doan here...or similar. They may even fit better with the players we have....there is only one Zach Parise, but he may not be the one to put us over....put it this way, if we land him and lose out on Suter I will be more upset than if it were opposite...tons more!

    Pens Targeting Suter and Parise

Well then if Holland is serious, he'll just have to up that to $8M-$9M....longer contract...front loaded so he is making $10M-$11M a year for over half the contract... What Mr.I wants, Mr.I gets....all he has to do is feel slighted by Shero and the Pit owner and "Badaboom!" Parise will be his....along with Suter. IMO, though I could care less if Parise does not come here. Suter is more important, then Holland can focus on the Doan's around the league... besides if Holland lands Nash, we'll be saying Parise? Parcheesee? Pepperoni? Pimples? Who? BTW, it's nice that an "offer" leaked out, can anyone say tampering?

Predictions on where players will land

I see Suter coming here for sure....others are up in the air. Holland will need to fill at least ONE top 6 role. I am still hoping for a Nash trade, but we all know the list of UFA's for plan's B - Zzz. Most important is Suter hands down, bar none, the juckf****** pott...

Predictions on where players will land

Well wingydingy....they need to sign 2 forwards and 2 defensmen. If they give Brunner that spot, then yes one forward, but you better believe it will be a top 6 rather than a bottom 6. 2 defensmen, sure they have Quincey as a RFA, but dump him and get Suter & Garrison...That will bring them to 23 players. When and if they keep Abby, someone (Emmerton or Mursak) will be bumped out. May as well go for Doan too and bump both of them or trade them in a package or just for some draft pick depth.... <SLAP> You watch your mouth!

i hope we dont panic if suter and parise signs elsewhere

Just say no to Quincey...Holland qualified him for $3.125M...let him go RFA or sign and trade him.

i hope we dont panic if suter and parise signs elsewhere

Just reading Kulfans article about Holland being aggressive tomorrow, why does he say Wings have aprox. $18M when they have $24M? Quincey and Abby are not signed yet, so they still have $24M http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20120630/SPORTS0103/206300332/Red-Wings-plan-aggressive-pursuit-free-agents?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE

Predictions on where players will land

I am gonna say Suter/Doan/Prust/Meuller/Garrison/Montoya - Detroit... everyone else I could care less about because nobody will be able to touch us after we acquire Nash to go along with those UFA's!

D Justin Schultz signs with Oilers

Also, it's be nice to get Petry off their hands and into our system!

i hope we dont panic if suter and parise signs elsewhere

This may very well be the first year that Holland HAS to overpay to get what he wants....I am perfectly fine with giving Suter upwards of $8M per year for 7-10 years...but after that Holland will need to be a little more frugal. From what's tweeting today, Pens are favorites for Parise, I am fine with that as long as we get Suter, then some solid plan B's like Semin/Doan, hell we may even pull off that blockbuster to acquire Nash....I think Nash in Detroit is just as good as Parise in Pitt....I personally would love Nash here, just interested to see what would be required to give up! Sign Suter, Sign Garrison, sign Quincey then trade him to Columbus in a package that would get us Nash... I don't care if it would cost us Franzen or Filppula, Nash is worth it, he is locked up for 6 more years and after winning a couple of Cups, he will definitely finish his career here! I don't know what it would take, but lets start with Filppula, Emmerton, Mursak, (sign & Trade) Abbdelkader, (sign and trade) Quincey, add in Tatar (or Andersson both are top 10 prospects in our system) and a 1st. This may be overpayment, but we need to open up a few roster spots for the UFA's I want...so trade (waive) these guys no matter if they are in the package or on there own. FORWARDS Rick Nash ($7.800m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Johan Franzine ($3.955m) Shane Doan ($5.000m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) Damien Brunner ($1.000m) / Darren Helm ($2.125m) / Danny Cleary ($2.800m) Drew Miller ($0.838m) / Peter Mueller ($3.000m) / Brandon Prust ($1.250m) Patrick Eaves ($1.200m) / Gustav Nyquist ($0.875m) / DEFENSEMEN Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Ryan Suter ($8.000m) Ian White ($2.875m) / Jason Garrison ($1.500m) Brendan Smith ($0.875m) / Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m) Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) / GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) Al Montoya ($0.875m) SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $69,958,712; BONUSES: $37,500 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $241,288 If you got Semin instead he would cost less than Doan, and be slotted with Dats. I know this scenario will not happen, but something similar if we can get Nash! Also, if they wanted Franzine instead, that is fine, just move Bert back with Dats and Fil back with Z...

D Justin Schultz signs with Oilers

Well, he went there because of all the young top draft picks to have a great team in a few years...too bad by time these kids learn to win they will be commanding salaries that will price themselves out of Edmonton....Have a great career Schultz! Sorry your umbilical cord doesn't reach any further than Alberta!

    CRAZZZZYYY Roster Idea

Ok, sheesh, make his salary $1.9M or heck, even $2.9Mm that's fine...hell give him QUincey's salary...

    Habs sign Moen

Scratching my head just as much as Schultz not wanting to ever win a Cup....go figure...
  16. LeftWinger

    Brodeur may test open market

Howard is in a contract year, don't think he will like splitting time with someone when he wants to play the most he can and the best he can to get a nice fat paycheck next year...he would really hate if he lost his job to Fat Boy and it would suck if he just said F/U and walked as a UFA....
  17. LeftWinger

    Paul Gaustad re-signs with Predators

No thanks to Gausted....there are too many other bottom 6 players available that are better...but if we get to plan D, then sure....
  18. LeftWinger

    Habs sign Moen

Nah the breakdown will be if Parise and Suter BOTH go elsewhere, worse yet to the PENS, worse yet if Ken Holland kicks the tires and gets no one.... Then the forum will break down.....yikes!
  19. LeftWinger

    Pens Targeting Suter and Parise

How stupid....it aint a hard decision....everyone is gonna offer you $7M-$9M dollars average, you just have to decide which offer to take....I know you don't want to make the wrong decision, but you just got to look at what's better for you. In Detroit you will be #1 on the Blueline, make just as much money here than there, you have superstars to play with here (none with noodles for brains) and you have a more consistent winning tradition and playoff appearances...The better coach, the better goalie, he is your Team USA teammate as well, the better owner...hindsight is always 20/20 but don't hols up anyone, because whichever team you go to, the others want to go on to plan B and if you delay then those plan B's will be gone....don't hold up either team, make a decision July 1st so the other's can move on.... I for one will be PISSED if Suter decides to wait a few days as the Garrison's get swooped up (not that he is a replacement for Suter, but is a backup plan) and then he chooses a different team leaving us with Quincey and Kindl to round out the top 6....HIGHLY PISSED!

St. James: Wings have inquired about Rick Nash

Trade for Nash, sign Semin/Mueller/Prust/Suter/Garrison....game on!

    Latendresse

I would take the risk....especially Meuller....I was one hoping Holland drafted Latendresse in 05' instead of Kindl.... The cool thing is, Detroit is $8M UNDER the Cap FLOOR...so they HAVE to sign some folks to get above the floor! Let's just hope it's not overpaying crap like Quincey or Hudler that gets them to the floor....
  23. LeftWinger

    CRAZZZZYYY Roster Idea

Not that this is NHL 2013 nor would Columbus accept a bunch of junk, but I would love to acquire Nash somehow, along with getting rid of Franzen, Cleary, Mursak, Emmeton, Kindl, a prospect or two and draft picks... Man if some kind of combo of those players/picks would get Nash here, I would be on cloud 900! With the open spots we have now an then dumping Franzines and Cleary's salary, we could add Parise/Meuller/Semin along with having Nash....ya ya, total fantasy world, I know, but wow that would send a message to the NHL! edit: nah, nevermind, I cannot fit all those guys under the Cap on capgeek....but if we lost out on the Parise sweeps and still acquired Nash we could get Semin and Meuller and Garrison and Suter... also for some odd reason, I go to "cap calculator" on capgeek and Parise is not listed under NJD as a UFA.... so I came up with this crazy roster! (I only brought Sproul up because he was the next highest D on the prospects list....I let Quincey walk and I traded Kindl) FORWARDS Alexander Semin ($5.500m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Rick Nash ($7.800m) Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Damien Brunner ($1.000m) Drew Miller ($0.838m) / Peter Mueller ($2.750m) / Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) Gustav Nyquist ($0.875m) / Darren Helm ($2.125m) / Brandon Prust ($1.200m) Justin Abdelkader ($1.250m) / Patrick Eaves ($1.200m) / DEFENSEMEN Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Ryan Suter ($8.000m) Ian White ($2.875m) / Jason Garrison ($0.985m) Brendan Smith ($0.875m) / Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m) Ryan Sproul ($0.925m) / GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) Al Montoya ($0.875m) ------ SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $67,180,833; BONUSES: $320,000 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $3,019,167

St. James: Wings have inquired about Rick Nash

Columbus said earlier today that they WOULD trade within the Central if the price was right....I wonder what that price would be? Nash would be great here! We got plenty of cap space, plus whatever space we'd gain after the trade! Trade for Nash, Sign Parise and Suter, then round out the roster with lower level salaries.....Wonder if Garrison will cost less than Quincey? I sure do like Meuller as well... Wonder how the payroll would look with Parise/Nash/Semin/Suter/Garrison/Meuller on it? blue adams you out there? All depends on who we would have to give up for Nash too....sure wish they'd take Frazen off our hands, but I have a feeling it would start with Filppula...
