I changed the title of this thread to more focus on UFA and Summer Trades!

Now we Need a top line LW, a LHD and a RHD and we'll be looking pretty solid.

I'm hoping Malcom Spence is still there when we pick in round 2. Steve Probably won't take him, but it would be a really good pick.

I'm gonna hold out hope that Yzerman has something happening. Both in trade and UFA. He has to, right? He's gotta be on the hotseat, right?

My thoughts are the Ducks for sure. They're young talent is better than ours. At this pace the Yzerplan is moving, I'll never see another Cup in my life. He is wasting Larkin's career.

Oh s***, he we go! Yzerman has re-signed William Lagesson to a 2 year extension! In all seriousness, I'm pretty disappointed in Steve Yzerman. I guess the draft is still ahead, so he could still move the #13 and UFA is around the corner. But damn, he could've matched or bettered a few of these trades and we'd be a better team today.

Dobson going to MTL along with an 7 year extension at $9.5M. I haven't seen the return yet. Edit: now thats a bold move! I wish our GM had balls like this!

I tend to agree. If we aren't trading for a D, we could easily fill and LHD and a RHD via UFA. Then we could trade the 1st(s) and players for a top line upgrade. But I'm sorry, ASP and MBN are not on my table. They are our near future. Wallinder and Buium I am ok with using in a package. Along with Berggren, Rasmussen, Tarasenko, Holl, Mrazek, Compher, etc... Lindgren 5x$6M Ekblad 5x$8M those two signings would make our D better, harder to play against, and Lindgren is a penalty kill specialist. Plus it will make our future team better. This year: Edvinsson - Seider Lindgren - Ekblad Chiarot - Johansson Gustafsson Next Year: Edvinsson - Seider Lindgren - Ekblad Johansson - ASP (random 7th D) I buy out Holl and Tarasenko before June 30, just cut ties, no need to attempt to trade, nobody wants to give anything for them.

I wonder what the return for Rasmus Andersson would look like. Although I do believe, via trade, we need a LHD to fill the top 4. Maybe Yzerman addresses both LHD and RHD via UFA? Gavrikov, Provorov, or Lindgrin on the left and Ekblad on the right?

For either Hague or Dobson, I'd give a 1st, D prospect (Tuomisto, Wallinder) and maybe a lower pick (3rd?) Robo or Peterka, I'd give two 1sts, prospect (Danielson) and NHL player (Berggren or Soderblom) I have ZERO issue paying up in order to acquire someone. I know we only have so many 1sts to toss around, but getting TWO of these players (one up front and one on D) would turn this team right around! We really aren't going to miss a couple of 1sts with our prospect depth. May take more or less, but point is, we have the assets, the cap, and the need to acquire a top winger and a top D. Somehow, someway, Yzerman needs to do so or it'll be another year of crap. I'd prefer a LHD. Trade for Hague or Miller, sign Ekblad (if he'd come home) for RHD. Robo or Peterka are interchangeable. They'd both be expensive to acquire and to re-sign. At least Robo has a year left.

Peterka and Robo are available and affordable. Hague, Dobson, Andersson, Ekblad, Byram, all available and affordable. (Ekblad UFA of course) Yzerman just needs to sacrifice a 1st or two. The prospect pool is full of players, they won't miss a 1st or two. Zegras trade just set the market though, all he got in return was a bottom 6 center, a 2nd and 4th. Dangling the 13th OA out there should get some teams talking.

Seriously though, fans have had enough. Changes are needed, and not just subtle changes. Playoffs are a must this year or I am all for letting him go. He's drafted well, it's time to add IMPACT player(s) that fit the timeline. a 1st or two is not going to stall the plan. There are players available that will HELP this team AND be here for the glory. Just like when he got ADB. He NEEDS to have another (or two) trades like that. Trade for a top line winger Trade for a #1 LHD Sign a #2 RHD. They're out there. Available. And affordable. He BETTER use his buyouts too! Nobody wants to trade for Holl or Tank? Good, buy them out. We need to cap and the spots.

Zegras on the move. Jesus, I guess he just wasn't what Steve wanted because Wings could've matched this or even better. What the f*** is he working on? If anything...

I will back track a little on that last post, I'd like to see them trade a 1st or two, but honestly the 13th OA could be good if Jackson Smith is still there... So maybe dangle a 26 and 27 1st out there.

You have to think that THIS is the off-season that will define Yzerman as a GM. A trade package that starts with two 1st round picks should get you almost damn near anybody. Teams are making deals now, the time to deal is now, screw waiting until draft day, or over the summer. Make a splash right now. If this roster is not filled with the players we need by August 1, I'm all for getting rid of Yzerman. Sure, you cannot control where a UFA goes, if a player has trade protection, you can't always be on their list, but there are players out there, on the block, that would put Detroit into the playoffs that have no trade protection. Spend the GD picks! The team will do just fine without drafting a couple of guys that won't be seen for 3 years. This is Yzerman's critical off season. Its do or die.

I'm all for that! Seider, Raymond, Kasper, Danielson, Cossa, ASP, MBN...we can afford to deal a 1st (or 2) for that legit top LW or top LHD.

Is this another example of Yzerman trading an asset for junk, then the other team flipping him for something better?
