More likely, there might be some kind of one-time amnesty buyout period, where teams can buyout players without the years of cap hit penalties. We saw the same thing happen when the current CBA was ratified.

You're right, that the team may suffer with the results that Holland has had this summer. But you can't really accuse him of sitting on his hands while every other team improves. True, Holland took more of a wait-and-see approach with Semin, but that doesn't really surprise me, seeing that he was more interested in pursuing Doan and possibly other options before Semin. They already have one player on the roster with questionable game-to-game work ethic in Franzen, so it doesn't surprise me that they weren't jumping all over the chance to sign another player with the questionable ethics (rightly or wrongly).

Travelling to Wisconsin to meet with Suter? Being in contact several times with Doan's agent? Hiring a proven NHL Head Coach to fill the vacant Assistant Coach spot? There's a difference between striking out on free agent offers, and sitting on his hands.

It's still in rumor-mode, so for the time being, I'm going to move this to the Rumor Mill. I'll move it back and/or merge it when/if the time comes.

Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild
Jedi replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Well... We all wanted a bit more excitement than we got yesterday. Good to see that Ilitch, Holland and the rest of the crew are still pushing hard for Suter. Bumping their offer by $10m certainly shows that they're serious in their pursuit.- 487 replies

Wow, that's a "New Media" nugget of information. All the reporters and pundits etc are trying to get information about possible suitors meeting with Suter, and then someone goes "outside the box" and finds a flight plan for a plane registered to the Red Wings parent company flying to Madison Wisconsin. The plot thickens, ladies and gentlemen...

Are we at the point where we're complaining about the complaining about Parise/Suter taking so long? Because I can come back...

George Malik provided a bit of clarification regarding Babcock in MSP. Might be just pure coincidence after all...

Best fan-sent tweet I've seen regarding Babcock in the MSP airport... As well as the FAKE Mike Babcock twitter's post... (Can't emphasize FAKE enough, there.)

It's widely been reported that Parise left his agent's offices in Toronto to fly home to Minnesota today and discuss options with his family. Perhaps Parise is allowing a few face-to-face meetings? Or, as I joked about earlier, perhaps he's trying to "casually" run into Zach right off the jetway...

Per Michael Russo (Minneapolis Star Tribune)...

Never heard of him, but it sounds like he's at least there on-the-ground with Parise's agents... David Shoalts with Canada's Globe and Mail...

Take it for what it's worth, but Ansar Khan posted the following... This might be a bit of wishful thinking, but that does not sound like the kind of thing Holland would say if he were informed that Parise is only considering MIN/PIT/NJ. Again, nothing official, so a grain of salt (or two) is highly recommended.
