Heck, if I was voting I would vote for Roy as well. Yea, he is a dork, but the guy can coach and he has helped the Avs get back into the playoffs this year.

flyers sign macdonald to 6 year $30 million extension
Nightfall replied to Euro_Twins's topic in General
Considering the Flyers wanted to sign Cleary for 3 years and 8.25 million, I am not surprised anymore at what the Flyers do when it comes to signing players. http://www.broadstreethockey.com/2013/9/10/4713974/dan-cleary-contract-flyers -
Man, what a tear jerker. You know this guy loved to play hockey, and he loved the city of Edmonton. I wish this guy won a cup, and he the closest he came was game 7 of the cup finals. I really hope he comes back to manage, coach, or work in the front office of Edmonton or another team. What a class act.

I felt he was in the process of tapping it in. Pretty easy call for me to make. Maybe if you show it to 10 referees, I bet 8 out of 10 will rule in favor of the goal.
-
The call on the ice was goal. Taking it to Toronto, there has to be non-disputable evidence that it wasn't a goal. Maybe I am not seeing what you are seeing, but the play is pretty black and white. The puck was in the crease, the blue jackets player was going to tap it in, and Smith drives the player into the net to prevent a goal from being scored. In my opinion, the rule was abided by correctly. So why don't you tell me what part of the rule you don't believe was followed correctly? This right here. He should have just destroyed the guy and taken a 2 minute cross checking penalty or something.
-
Obviously we will have to agree to disagree. As a referee myself, I would award that a goal every time because of what you said. Smith's actions caused the net to come off. If Smith doesn't drive the player into the net, the player has an easy tap in goal.
-
The rule does state that. "the goal post must have been displaced by the actions of a defending player or goalkeeper" Was the goal posts displaced? Yes Was it due to the actions of Smith? Yes. That player that had an easy tap in wasn't going to knock the net off himself just standing there. After Smith pushes him into the net. Smith doesn't do that, its an easy tap in goal. The goal as imminent, and Smith's actions caused the net to go off its moorings. Once again, good goal.

I won't get into a debate on what the refs called. That never ends well, and as a referee myself, I am a bit more understanding than the common Wings fan. Lets put it this way..... The refs were not the reason why the Wings lost that game. I don't necessarily agree with all the calls in the course of the game. What I do believe is that good teams find a way to get the job done. The Wings were not the better team tonight and I feel they made more mistakes than Columbus did.

Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd
Nightfall replied to gcom007's topic in General
Brunnstrom scored a hat trick in his first game and scored 17 goals and 12 assists in 59 games in his rookie season in the NHL for the stars. I am glad to see Jarnkrok with 3 points in 3 games, but longevity is the key. The milestones should be... 1. The first 5 games. So far so good. 2. The first 15 games. 3. The first full season 4. The second full season -
I thought it was a good call. The rule 63.6 states.... http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=26355 IMHO, a goal was imminent. The player had position, and he was going to have an easy tap in goal. Smith pushed him into the net and therefore caused the net to be dislodged. It really is a no brainer call in my opinion.
-
I will say that the game was very well officiated. I disagreed with the Helm hooking call, but they did get the call right on the Jackets last goal for sure.
-
Depends on his defense or if his own players are kicking the puck in their own net.

Columbus scores 2 and I swear half the forum members were on their way out. Detroit scores to bring it within 1 and everyone comes back. Less drama ladies!

Deflection in on our own net by Dekeyser. Just a bad break.

James Neal Cross-Check to Glendening's Head [GIF] - Suspension?
Nightfall replied to a topic in General
Either way, two wrongs don't make a right. A butt-end is a dangerous play, and in the case of Legwand, he targeted the groin of Malkin. Just like that cross check to the head should be zero tolerance as well. Both players should have been suspended 1-2 games each. They would have lost more money and been on the shelf for their disgusting behavior. -
Goaltending is a major problem for us. We really need that elite goalie. /sarcasm Seriously, if we had a full team, we would be in great shape.
-
Hell, the Griffins are still sitting atop their division with all their players up in Detroit. That is all due to the great coaching of Blashill and his coaching staff. Right now, there are literally 2 full forward lines of Griffins players up with Detroit. They are the top line players on the roster too. I just hope they can come back to the AHL after playing all these games.

Everything that has a beginning has an end. The streak will end eventually. I know I never want it to end either, but it will.

The lack of faith and support for our team in this forum is just insane. Just shows how spoiled we really are. The Wings have made the playoffs for as long as I have been a fan, and if they miss out this year, then I am not bailing on them. I fail to see why some here are willing to give up, bash the team, and insult the management. Support your team, through thick and thin. Its what supporting a team is all about. As for the game tonight, the Blue Jackets should be commended. They came through with a win when they needed it. As for the Wings, they have 18 more games to fight their way into the post season.
-
Remove the top two players off any team and they will have problems winning games and playing consistently good hockey.
-
If you read many of the posts here, its our goaltending, defense, offense, coaching, and management. I think that covers everyone.
-
If he is coming up to the wings, it will be to watch games. He won't be playing in them. He has a rather large learning curve ahead of him. I would rather see them take their time rather than try to rush him and destroy his confidence.

If Legwand signs here, it was a great deal for the Wings. If he doesn't, it was a waste, Thats the stance I am making. -

I wouldn't waste a 4th round pick on either of those guys. Vanek is a rental, and have you seen Collberg? The guy is like Mantha. A 2nd round pick and he has a great upside. I think Montreal overpaid. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=16836 Dig into these trades a bit before you start saying that these are just scrub players.
