  1. Right now he is, but after our injured players return, he won't be.
  2. I bolded the key word. Its a risk for sure. I believe if the Wings sign Legwand, it will be a good trade for the Wings in the short term. Long term, no one knows. It will definitely be something people analyze. Like signing Meech and letting Quincey go, and watching Quincey blossom. Its easy to make decisions in hindsight.
  3. I don't see how people can say with certainty that Jarnkrok won't be the useful to us in the next 3 years either.
  4. So #1 center on Team A means he is #1 center on Team B after he is traded? Great assumption.
  5. Well, since we are guessing, assuming, and predicting all the upside to Jarnkrok, we may as well look at the flip side.
  6. Who said he was a #1 center? Oh, you did.
  7. I think its best not to overinflate his value to the organization. He is a good prospect, but not a super one. The sooner you realize that, the better. You seem to know that he is going to light it up in the NHL, which he hasn't had a glimpse of it yet. To say he is going to be the next Zetterberg is taking a pretty big leap of faith.
  8. I agree with this! We need more well thought out posts like this.
  9. It helps if you come to the table with an actual rebuttal, stats, or an arguement as to why you feel the way you do. Just saying that Legwand is a scrub really doesn't give you much to stand on. Hell, I hope we sign Legwand. He is the kind of player that we need. 40 points in 60 games and I think he has a lot of upside to his game.
  10. I disagree. Every prospect who was traded was considered to be a great prospect. Look at the Gaborik trade. The prospect there only led D1 in scoring, and has a great upside to him. All of that for a rental that has been injury prone. I could go on and on here, but here is the point.... Just because you don't recognize the player doesn't mean he was a scrub. You have to look at each player traded and make an honest assessment of their skill. No one got away with a steal.
  11. Have anything to backup that statement and continue the discussion or you going to keep talking out of your ass? IMHO, Legwand is a proven NHL player, and not crap. Maybe you could explain why you consider Legwand to be crap.
  12. Wow, really? I think Sheahan is much better to be honest. Then we have guys that haven't even made it to the AHL to consider that have a much better upside than him.
  13. Harold, I know we have had our differences in the past, but I cannot like this post enough.
  14. I am convinced that people here are more pissed off that Holland didn't trade scraps to get legit talent. No team wants our crap for solid NHL players. Here is a hint people..... You have to give up talent to get talent.
  15. Calle hasn't played in the NHL yet. Legwand is leading his team in scoring. I guess we will see in 5-10 years after Calle has enough experience. Until then, its just as I said, people here propping him up like he is the next Wayne Gretzky. He is an above average prospect with zero NHL experience.
  16. Says hockey prospects website. Besides, we have had better prospects in the system that have actually panned out. Nyquist and Tatar come to mind. Pulkkinen comes to mind as well who is actually tearing it up as a member of the Griffins. I am not saying that Jarnkrok isn't a good prospect, but just that people here are putting him up on a pedestal as being the best prospect we have, and thats disingenuous.
  17. Fixed it for you. We have way too many people thinking that Jarnkrok was a top tier talented prospect. The fact of the matter is that he wasn't. He was a above average rated prospect with a C level probability of success. I have watched this guy in Grand Rapids, and while he is good, he isn't elite by any stretch of the imagination.

    What would you do?...

Hrm....what would I do? Well, if I am the coach, I would play the players that Holland got for me. If I am Holland, I would be kicking myself as to why I signed Cleary. I mean, why when you already have a glut of forwards that are committed? I just don't understand. Aside from that, he has made the right moves in waiving Tootoo and Eaves. I really don't think that we will see Nyquist in Detroit this season because of the salary cap and Nyquist still is eligible to play in the AHL. Nyquist knows he will get his chance, like Tatar did. He had to wait a couple years, and even help the Griffins win the Calder cup. Nyquist is a professional, and understands what is going on. Its frustrating probably, but at the same time he is providing leadership and setting an example for the young Griffins players. You can't put a price tag on that.

    McCollum Watch

I think the pressure is off him right now. He really is playing loose, and his performance is a night and day difference over where he was before Mrazek came in and earned the #1 spot. Maybe he matured and he is becoming the goalie everyone thought he would be. Either way, I am glad to see him do well.

    Patrick Eaves on Waivers

Well, he cleared Waivers. Sounds like he will be with the Griffins for a while, if not until the end of the season or his contract. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2013/11/red_wings_forward_patrick_eave_3.html

10/26 GDT Rangers 3 at Red Wings 2 (OT)

Yup, Quincy was almost caught a few times tonight trying to knock the puck in or pinch. That time, he paid for trying to make something happen.

    10/21 GDT: Sharks 1 @ Red Wings 0 (SO)

That last save on Bert was so lucky. I play goal and I have gotten saves like that and had no idea that I did it. Ah well, great game though. I am not happy with losing, but what a very entertaining game. Who says you need more scoring to make the game more entertaining?

Will young talent ever speak out against Wings philosophy?

I am still waiting for someone to answer this question. Aside from Cleary and Sammy, I can't think of anyone else that i would like to see a young player take a spot from. Maybe Bert.....maybe.....

I love it. Dats coughs the puck up, and everyone on the forum board blames anyone but Dats.
