Had they simply had a record of 6-6-2(14 pts) vs 3-9-2(8pts) they would have been in without help. Not being an Yzerman slappie but the March slide IMHO was on the coaching staff not rallying the troops before/after the deadline. Could moves have helped perhaps but just playing 50/50 hockey would have had us in and the rope might have been longer for Derek due to the playoff run.

Listened to game on drive back from OH and definitely need to see game recap videos. Paul Woods kept saying the entire roster is on the same page now and playing like that is way more fun and easier This upcoming road trip will speak volumes for the team

Going to take the assumption everyone wins their games in hand as that would be the worst case scenario. Tampa would be @ 50 and that would drop the Bruins into the WC2 spot Sens would be @ 46 Bruins would be @ 44 Habs would be @ 43 Pens would be @ 41 Rags would be @ 41 Wings would be @40 Flyers would be @ 40 Jackets would be @40 So still sitting out by 4 points but its not insurmountable if they get on a run and don't have any extended losing streaks like last year when Larkin went down. I am happily watching games now as it seems the coaching change as allowed them to play vs think and we aren't turtling with the lead. TM had some balls last night late in the game and it paid off but it showed the team he has faith in them .

Thurs morning coffee thoughts We have 5 of 6 at home the 1 away is at Montreal currently having won 2 in row after last night. Do we want this team to go on a heater? Lets put on the red colored shades(you all have a pair!) Say we win 4 of the next 6 which gets us back into the middle of the pack and maybe at the cusp of WC2 by end of December. Then we do decent enough in Jan/Feb/early March to keep us in the mix for WC2. Are we going to be happy or sad with that scenario? Seems like it would put us in a similar spot as last year in no man's land come trade deadline. Not crappy enough to sell, not good enough to buy for a run so we get more meh.
