There it is! Edzo with the "subtle interference." He managed to hold out for so long... Love Doc even making fun of Olczyk for it.

I'd love to have a guy like Clifford on the Wings. 6'2" 210 lbs. works hard every shift. can chip in some goals. Very physical. Will drop the gloves with anyone.
-
Brunner bails out Franzen with that floating pass in front of Jimmy.
-
Clifford has been getting a lot of ice time because he's played so well this season. He's someone they expected as a 4th liner last season who's played his way on the second line. But yeah, there's a lot of Clifford love from the announcers.

Can we trade Kindl for Voynov straight up?
-
That'd be fun to see. Kopitar plays the game similar to Zetterberg. But imagine if Z was 6'3" 225 lbs.
-
Cleary outmatched by Kopitar again. I dont know if it's intentional but if it is that's a terrible matchup.
-
How did that not go in?? The net was wide open?
-
Jimmy's looked great today. Made some huge saves.
-
You can see how much the Kings miss Greene and Mitchell, their two best stay at home guys. It's a good example of how a changing blueline can throw off the whole team, which I think the Wings are adjusting to.
-
Definitely. Kings are my second favorite team but I wouldn't mind seeing E drop the gloves. He just needs to be careful with who, but Nolan I think he'd hold his own.
-
It's not, but it definitely highlights how outmatched Clearly was on that play. Lost the physical battle in the corner, then lost position as Kopitar went to the net. Fun game overall so far though.
-
WTF does it matter whose administration it was built under?? Are you seriously trying to pin the deficiencies of the stadium on that? Nevermind. Just stay on topic about the arena.

I haven't been to the Joe in a while, but the problem used to be spending the entire time in line for the bathroom, not the actual going to the bathroom part.
-
I have a lot of fond memories and nostalgia for the Joe, but the place is a dump. It already wasn't great when I started going there in the mid 80s and certainly hasn't improved with age. What inadequate about it? Virtually everything but the sight lines. Location, appearance, getting in and out of the building, concessions, bathrooms...

Honestly I realize it may not make much sense, but a spear is much dirtier of a play to me. Probably because it's more likely to result in injury. Slashes can definitely do serious damage too, but a lot of times you're catching the guy on the pads. The league seems to view it that way as well, because even the intent to spear can be called for a penalty.
-
The difference is that Franzen is much bigger than Perron. But even so, I would've much rather he gave Perron a good two handed slash. It still wouldn't be a great reaction by Mule, but spearing is on another level.

Apparently the cap hit counts because it's a 35+ contract, but unless he reports to the team they don't have to pay him actual money. The Bruins were stuck with Thomas's cap hit but weren't paying his salary because he was suspended by the team for not reporting to play. So we're 10 games into the season and have our first shining example of CBA circumvention. The Isles add 5 million to their cap hit in order to get the floor without paying out any actual money or making an effort to improve their team(this is assuming Thomas won't report to the Isles either, which is a pretty safe bet). Bruins in return shed $5 million in cap space they were stuck with because of Thomas's 35+ yr old contract. And there's a very good chance one of the conditions of the draft picks the Isles gave up is that Thomas has to play for them. So the Isles likely won't even have to give up a pick. Essentially what happened is two GM's swapped $5 million in cap space. Can't wait for the next lockout.
-
It'd never happen, but it would be fun to watch. One fight with a 38 yr old Jamal Mayers hardly offsets a career of headhunting. Torres is one of the guys I think the league would be better off without.
-
First, the spear was not only unnecessary but a cheapshot well beyond the hit from behind, which was basically a stupid hockey play. If Franzen had a problem with it he could've very easily gotten in Perron's face. Instead his first reaction was to spear him, which is a gutless cheapshot. Second, I don't dislike everything about Franzen. Third, and for the thousandth time, keep your comments about the content of the post and not the person. If you want to discuss the spear, great. But snidely telling someone what they think isn't doing that. Bait me again and people will soon be wondering why you haven't posted here in such a long time.
-
Agreed. As much as I didn't like the spear, the major and getting ejected seemed enough. Unless it caught him right in the nards, Perron seemed to be playing it up. Still a crap move by Franzen, and not his first spearing incident.
-
Moore did answer the bell. He fought Cooke in the first period of that game. Vancouver apparently didn't think it was enough. If people want to discuss the code, what they think it means, if it's still relevant, then have at it but we don't really need to rehash the Bertuzzi incident, which has been debated here countless times. It happened 9 years ago. I don't think anyone's opinion will be changed now.

yeah, not really. Like I said I haven't seen the incident. I'm just tired of Franzen's cheapshots. And if he really speared Perron, that's a seriously dirty play. Anyway, I don't want to drag the thread off into that debate after what was an otherwise great game. But what an unexpected collection of goal scorers tonight. -

Nope. Spearing is one of the most gutless moves in hockey. Even if Perron wouldn't fight Franzen, you drop the gloves and start throwing haymakers while he turtles. -

I haven't seen the play yet but spearing is a gutless move, and worse than hitting from behind. Franzen is 6'3" 223 lbs to Perron's 6'0" 196 lbs. It's a shame Franzen's gloves are glued on.
