I'd be much more interested in Ryan than Nash. Though honestly I've never really liked Nash. I can't put a finger on exactly why. He's clearly talented, but just not a game changer or something. I dunno.

Im' glad the little loophole didn't really pay off for the Preds, and glad to see Radulov showing his true colors.
-
He's young, great size, 30 goal scorer, right handed shot. I wouldn't mind having him on the Wings depending on how much they'd have to give up to get him.
-
In the end, not really surprising. His agent was probably just stirring things up a bit showing NJ that Marty would have plenty of takers. Good to see he'll retire a devil.

I honestly don't understand why the Ducks keep dangling Ryan. But according to Dreger, they're saying they want a 2nd line center for him and a few other pieces. https://twitter.com/#!/DarrenDreger

Still no decision from Suter. Speculation abounds.

How does eklund still even have a voice in hockey? the guy is a total joke. When there's guys like McKenzie and Dreger out there, I don't know why anyone would give Eklund a second thought, other than a need for drama or something. -

I can't remember how it all worked out, but on the NHL network they were saying how the first year of his contract he could make $26 million. $12 mill salary, $12 mill signing bonus, then another $2 thrown in for something. -
signed Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr

There's more options than just small soft skill player or cheapshotting 4th liner who's bad defensively. -

I would be way more excited if the Wings had signed Pronger (at least a pronger from a few years ago). He's a player who'd sometimes dirty, but is a talented beast of a defenseman. Tootoo is a 4th line plug who gets more noticed for his cheap hits and that stupid whistle. -
signed Red Wings Sign Mikael Samuelsson to 2-yr, $6m deal (w/full NTC)

He parted with us. He wanted more money and playing time. To his credit, he was pretty open about it. -

I'm not talking about Tootoo the person. I'm talking about Tootoo the player. And he's a dirty player. He's bitten guys, thrown cheap hits, and often drops the gloves and starts swinging before the other guy even realizes he's in a fight. Like I said, my biggest issue is he's a dirty player and not good defensively. -

I wanted the Wings to add some grit, but Tootoo would be about at the bottom of my list. Dirty player. Questionable defensively. -

If he can stay healthy and match or beat Hudler's point totals, the team got better. But those are definitely two big questions. -

Samuelsson was very good value for the money his first go round. This time it seems unlikely he will be, unless he stays healthy and coming back to Detroit somehow rejuvenates him. The shinguard assassin is back. -

I try to think of him as a Hudler replacement (assuming he stays healthy and scores 20+ goals), but at the same time it's hard for me to get excited about having both Bertuzzi and Sammy for 2 years with NTC and 35+ contracts. -

Shoulda figured. Everything old is new again with Holland. -

I think he's gotten a bit better over the years, but didn't they sit him for almost all of the playoffs last year?I'm not being a smartass, I'm just making sure he wasn't injured and I forgot. But it doesn't show a lot of confidence in his play. I know what you're saying. I'm definitely not hung up on the Wings being "classy." I'd take guys like Pronger and Doan here in a heartbeat, and both are on and sometimes over the edge. But they're beasts. I like the wings having a guy who will drop the gloves. Unfortunately with Tootoo he often doesn't give the other guy a chance to get his off before he starts throwing haymakers. -

True. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't have been upset if we signed him, but it doesn't really bother me. I would take Parros over no one though.
-
https://twitter.com/#!/aaronward_nhl Columbus picks up a solid d-man.
-
Parros is honestly an extremely entertaining and likable player. But I don't think he's even that great of a fighter and doesn't provide much else in the 6 minutes he's on the ice. Wings could use more snarl but I'm not bummed we didn't sign Parros, other than how entertaining he would be in interviews and events.
-
Good point. It's a good signing for Columbus. Solid D-man at a decent price, but for Aucoin? Maybe his options were limited and compared to Phoenix he at least knew the franchise would be there next season?

The Grass Is Always Greener - Johan Franzen
haroldsnepsts replied to InKennyWeTrust's topic in General
Though you didn't quote me I assume you think I'm the one "kissing Simmonds and Lucic's butt" since I'm the one who threw their names out there. Honestly they're just the first two true power forwards who came to mind that had similar production and cost to Franzen. To be clear, Franzen is not a power forward. I don't think anyone really expects him to suddenly turn into one. I was pointing out some examples of actual power forwards. I don't know how many different ways people can say it but their main problem with Franzen is his lack of consistent effort. That group includes his coach, not just "LGW trolls." No one is talking about his talent or the goals he does score. It's his clear talent that makes it frustrating. And lets' not get overly dramatic here. When exactly was Lidstrom a whipping boy? A few negative posts about him does not make him a whipping boy. -
i hope we dont panic if suter and parise signs elsewhere

Parros just went to Florida. Not sure I'd want the Wings spending that kind of money on him, but another option bites the dust.
