Kings score. 3-1. Game is probably over.
-
Yep. But a lot can change in the playoffs.
-
Kings score on the power play. With six seconds left in the period. Kings lead 2-1. Finding new and interesting ways to blow leads. End of 2nd. Kings lead 2-1. Wings were the better team that period, or at least they had the better chances.
-
PK. Helm, interference. 15 seconds left in the period.
-
Quick is keeping the Kings in this game.
-
Kings tie it up. 1-1.
-
Outstanding PK.
-
PK. Green, hooking.
-
PK. Ericsson, high-sticking.
-
End of 1st. Wings lead 1-0. Might've been the ice on that one. Looked like the puck got stuck. The LCA ice has definitely been less than stellar through these first two months.
-
Helm and Nielsen with the assists. PP

GREEN! 1-0!

EDIT: Wrong thread.

Just checked the standings. I'd thought the Habs had 21 points, but they have 23. So...yeah.
-
I think we could take Toronto. It'd be tough, but they're beatable. Wouldn't be the worst choke job of Babcock's NHL career.
-
Carey Price is back from injury. Since returning, he's shut out Buffalo and held Columbus to one goal. We play the Habs on Thursday and then again on Saturday. These days, a Wings-Habs game is an almost guaranteed 2 points for the Habs -- and they should be extra motivated because beating us twice will pretty much eliminate the gap in the standings between us and them, even if we win tonight. So...gotta win tonight. Always gotta win, but this game is very gotta win.

Santa? No. Satan? Yes.

Agreed. Number of Cups won in [x amount of time] doesn't necessarily tell us how good a captain someone is/was or if he is/was a better captain than some other captain.
-
Why would that make him a better captain?

I think last season's team overachieved a bit in October and November; we were bad and we were probably lucky to get as many wins as we did. I think this season's team has been more solidly average, a true middle-of-the-pack team. Looking at the numbers (basic stats and possession metrics), 10-9-5 is right where you'd expect the team to be.

Helene with some numbers and such: http://www.freep.com/story/sports/nhl/red-wings/2017/11/26/detroit-red-wings-schedule/895794001/ It’s a great positive for the Wings that those two are leading the team in points, Larkin with 21, Mantha with 20. At the 24-game mark last year, Henrik Zetterberg led the team with 16 points. This season four Wings have more points than that, as Justin Abdelkader and Mike Green each have 17. Tomas Tatar had four goals among seven points last year at this point; today he has seven goals and 11 points. Seven players have at least five goals; last year, it was two. One area that really sticks out is power play production – Mantha has five goals, Tatar and Martin Frk each have three. That’s as many power play goals the Wings had as a whole team at this point last year, and puts the power play overall at 22.7 percent, ninth in the NHL. The increased production puts the team at 14th overall in GF and 21st overall in GF/GP. Better than last season, but definitely mediocre.

Yzerman was a bum! Should've traded him for Yashin!

Might as well throw Florida in there, I suppose. Like I said before, the title of "Third best team in the Atlantic" appears to be up for grabs. Of the Atlantic teams, Buffalo's the only one that's really looking like a lock for basement status, IMO.
