11/09 GDT : Detroit Red Wings vs Calgary Flames : 9:00 PM ET

Everything has to be a big production with Smith. Guy should've been a Broadway actor. We're the better team so far. Keep it up. And just as I say that, Flames score. -

You don't want us to score lots of goals on him and totally humiliate him? -

I think he's centering it, like he did against the Canucks. I like it, provided they get to play a lot of minutes. -

https://www.nhl.com/standings Good news: A win tonight will put us at #3 in the Atlantic. Bad news: Boston (15 points) and Ottawa (17) will each have three games in hand on us. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sisyphus -

Doesn't matter. TFF crafted some of the best songs of the '80s and are therefore awesome. -

It's crazy how deep they are on the back-end now. Giordano, Hamilton, Brodie, Hamonic (currently injured, but yeah), Stone, Andersson, Kylington... -

Keep an eye on Rasmus Andersson. He's making his season debut tonight. Good young defenseman I'd hoped we'd be able to draft. Alas... -

I wanted to. I really wanted to. Ultraman was my jam when I was a young lad. But I'm contractually obligated to vote DBZ. -

https://www.nhl.com/redwings/news/notes-athanasiou-enjoys-playing-center/c-292768928 "The difference between center and wing for him is he's a guy who skates when he gets the puck," Blashill said. "He doesn't have the same necessary habit to skate without the puck. (Darren) Helmer's really learned as a winger how to skate to open space without the puck. AA kind of waits until he gets the puck. Well, it's kind of hard to get it on the wing as much. You get it way more at center. I just think getting him in the middle of the ice where he can get the puck and attack up the ice at speed probably is using his best attributes." Everyone knows about Athanasiou's speed, which he feels he can really unleash at center. "I think you can skate a little more," Athanasiou said. "In the D zone you're a little more active, you can come under the puck. I can carry a lot of speed, come under it and carry it up the ice. "I'm pretty comfortable there. It's a lot of fun playing center." Athanasiou said he's also comfortable having Martin Frk on his wing, something that he had back in his days in Grand Rapids. "I played with Frky before and I think we had some good chem," Athanasiou said. "We know where we are on the ice and dod a good job finding each other. He has a lot of skill to his game, he's very comfortable making some passes out there. He's always looking for me in stride so he's definitely a lot of fun to play with." Two things: OMG HYPE! "Good chem." Not good chemistry. Good chem.

TBH, it's a profoundly stupid show. I haven't watched it in over a decade. (Come at me, bros!)

Who knew so many DBZ characters were Wings fans? Dayum.

http://www.tsn.ca/trade-bait-duchene-deal-puts-kane-atop-list-1.908350 I fear Green will be a replay of Vanek. He has a reputation as a power play specialist and a liability on the defensive side of the puck, and so far this season he's playing to both of those characterizations. He's a good-skating veteran defenseman, so we're getting at least a 2nd, but I fear that could be it. Even if he piles up a ton of points. Also, the Caps overpaid for a similar player in Shattenkirk and that did a whole lot of nothing for their Cup hopes, and that will still be fresh in GMs' minds. That we're looking at a very deep draft class doesn't help. Tatar and Nyquist are playing to the "They're overpriced secondary scorers" characterization. They remain streaky scorers and their possession numbers aren't great this season (though, I honestly think that's largely a product of playing with Zetterberg, who I feel is really starting to show his age). Hurricanes fans are wanking over hypothetical returns for Noah Hanifin and neither Tatar nor Nyquist is on their wish list; they want *A Matt Duchene*. I fear #14 & #21 have no trade value atm. I'm also starting to fear the Tatar extension was a mistake. Howard has been great and Mrazek, having had his come-to-Jesus moment, seems to be rebounding (no pun intended). There isn't really a market for high-priced goalies right now and Holland wouldn't trade either of them in-season anyway, so f*** my life, I guess. tl;dr Outside of maybe Larkin and Mantha, we don't have ultra-sexy trade chips.
