Looking at the standings... Montreal, Florida, Edmonton, Minnesota are all below us. (Minnesota's a point behind us with two games in hand.) I'd expect all of those teams to finish above us this season. Point being, we might genuinely have a good shot at lottery placement this season. I'm not getting my hopes up for a top-three pick, but I'm thinking it's more realistic this season than it was last season. (Also: no charity odds for Vegas this time.)
  3. For real?? Wow, hadn't heard about that!
  4. I'm probably in the minority on this, but I'm liking Glendening this season and I'm liking our current fourth line. Frk and Glendening appear to be developing some chemistry, just like we all predicted. My OSP (Oddly Specific Prediction): Larkin with two goals, Frk with a goal and an assist, Kronwall with two assists, Abby scraps with Lucic, Scott Wilson scraps with Slepyshev, Glendening gets hurt blocking a shot on the PK.
  5. Keeping tabs on the Oilers has been a pet pastime of mine for years now. (Good community over @ Lowetide.) I don't know if I'd say I feel bad for them, but I can definitely say that if I were an obsessive Oilers fan, I'd be pretty steaming mad right now. Or maybe just flat-out despondent. Ten years of utterly incompetent management...and now Chiarelli's revealing himself to be only a minor upgrade in that department. He's bled the organization of great young talent. He's gone all-in on toughness, character, etc. He's taken the one positive thing that came out of their decade of incompetence -- the lottery kids -- and traded them for magic beans. Now McDavid's on the final year of his ELC (best value you're going to see in the cap era) and they're supposed to be gearing up for a Cup run this year and...their core is basically McDavid, Draisaitl and a lot of replaceable, good-not-great talent. They're really not much deeper than the Wings, even with Sekera in the lineup. I mean, they're probably going to destroy us tonight, because of course. And I fully expect them to make the playoffs this season. And they'll probably find a way to snag one of Karlsson, Doughty, Ekman-Larsson in a couple of years. But I can't help but feel like Chiarelli has botched the McDavid rollout. SAD!

  7. Man, Chiarelli's killing them. He learned nothing from his time in Boston.

Not your best troll work. You can do better.
  9. Hot take: This team has no identity.
  10. I don't think he stopped giving a f***. I think he's just too old and slow and overburdened.
  11. Stealth tank. I feel like we played hard but not smart. Lots of skating and trying to do stuff, but not much in the actual execution department. Struggled to get to the inside all night, struggled to generated sustained o-zone pressure all night, struggled to move through the neutral zone all night, allowed Ottawa to move too easily through the neutral zone all night. Kind of felt like a "Here's how it's gonna be when Zetterberg's gone" preview.
  12. Sens with the ENG to seal it. meh elite, elite Did Blashill seriously start that shift with about a minute to go with Ericsson and Kronwall both on the ice, or was I hallucinating? I wish we didn't suck. But we suck. Bring on Tippett.
  13. Green and Larkin with the assists.
  14. Mantha credited with the goal.
  15. Ballsy move by Blashill to pull Howard there.
  16. PP fails to get a single SOG. I am shocked, SHOCKED! PP Need to score here. (Duh.)
  17. I'm calling a Jimmy Howard PPG. Book it.
  18. Jensen's been really good.
  19. "Glendening almost put the Wings back into this hockey game." Desperate HYPE!
  20. It would be a borderline miracle.
  21. End of 2nd. Sens lead 2-0. Hopeless feeling.
