Something I've been asking myself for the past couple of seasons: Does our lack of right-handed shots hurt out transition game and our overall possession game? You'd think the lack of righties wouldn't be a big deal, especially at forward, and that's kind of how I've been leaning, But I'm thinking this season I might try paying special attention to how handedness does and doesn't factor into successful and unsuccessul Wings plays. For example, it's no secret that our passing game has kind of gone to s***. Does handedness have something to do with that? Something to think about and maybe keep an eye on yourselves, if you're so inclined.

It's gonna really sting if he signs with a (non-Wings) basement team. Of course, there's always 2019's UFA class. If not tying ourselves to Tavares means we can "live to fight another day" and chase Karlsson or Doughty or Ekman-Larsson, maybe we should be actively hoping we don't sign Tavares.

I mean, yeah, he's probably the better coach. But let's not pretend he's known for running a pure meritocracy. All the complaints about Babcock and Blashill leaning too heavily on veterans and not trusting the younger players etc. etc. etc.? We'd have the same complaints about Julien.

You forget: Marc Bergevin is crazy.

Julien is like Blashill on steroids. Defense, defense, grit, grit, veterans, veterans, questionable roster management, questionable roster management. Most NHL head coaches are like this, honestly. https://www.nhl.com/player/alex-galchenyuk-8476851 He needs to work on his defensive game, but I do think he has 1C potential. Would I trade Nyquist for him? Yes. Galchenyuk is significantly younger, has the potential to be a really good top-six centerman, and scored 30 goals a couple seasons ago (albeit on a good Habs team). And he was drafted third overall, so he has some pedigree, for what that's worth.
