    This is all Mantha's fault.

The team that's winning is pretty good and the team that's losing is pretty bad.

Less-than-stellar win, but two points is two points. Jimmy Howard continues to be a wall. I really hope AA's ok and that he's able to get right back into the lineup. We're gonna need him on Saturday...

I only quoted the first part because we both understand the second part; generally, yes, the lines in practice are the lines they're going with. I'm not disputing that, nor am I saying, "Well, Howard was in the starter's net today, but that doesn't mean anything. Could just as easily be Mrazek in net tonight." I just felt it would be somewhat uncharacteristic of the Wings -- the Wings' head coach, basically -- to change up the lines right after a badly needed win in which we generally played pretty well (at least by our early-season standards). But, like I just mentioned, I've just remembered that there was some juggling of the lines during that game -- so, yes, we probably will see the new-look lines tonight. I am a fool and I feel great shame.

Actually, now that I think about it...the "new" lines were actually utilized a bit in the win on Tuesday, no? So, yeah, they probably will go with those lines tonight (at least at the beginning).

Why not? We won the game and we've generally been playing not-entirely-terrible hockey lately with those lines. And now we're going up against a bad Canucks team on home ice. The Wings tend to be pretty "If it ain't broke..." about these things. Personally, though, I like the new lines better and I'm hoping we start with them.

Khan noted the Wings practiced with those lines (krsmith's lines). I'm assuming they're going to at least start with the lines from Tuesday night and, depending on how things go, maybe switch to the new-look lines. Guess we'll see.

Should be Mantha (duh), but I'm good with this. Lately we've looked soft, listless. If there's one thing Tyler Bertuzzi isn't, it's soft and listless. He's also quite skilled and is, IMO, fully capable of being more than a piano-puller (i.e. he can make plays and score goals). I'm hoping he does slot in on the top line tomorrow night; that has the potential to be a pretty dynamic line.

Scary thing is, I'm not sure the end of the streak would change much/anything. I fear The Plan only changes if we really, truly, unequivocally suck for a whole season and the Leafs and Sabres and Senators start pitying us. (And, yeah, judging by how things are going thus far, this might be that season. I guess we'll see! ...meh...)

Now, see, that's some hotness right there. Larkin controls the play, seemingly fades away, then reappears at exactly the right time for a high-quality scoring chance.

I'd like the stretch pass attempts more if we could actually execute stretch passes. We need to move up the ice as a five-man unit.

Truthfully, at this point, I ain't even mad. This team is mediocre-at-best. We all knew it going into the season. The numbers all say it. The eye test says it. This is the bed that's been made and we're sleeping in it.
