Not to me. Even with a true #1 or a top line scoring winger, there are just too many players on this team that cannot play a full game. I see the Wings at a true cross roads. Similiar to how the Flames were a couple of years back. We can either go down the dark road of a rebuild or hang on and try to be a middle of the pack team @ best. Wings do not have anyone that can step in and be a high impact player and carry this team, like Z and D have done in replacement for Fedorov and Yzerman. We have people that might at best be 60 point producers but not 1st line superstars. Time to rebuild

GDT 3/3 GDT : Blackhawks 2 at Red Wings 1 (SO)

Did something happen to Tatar after he scored his goal? He only played 8 minutes, did he get hurt? -
gdt 1/27 Red Wings 1 @ Chicago Blackhawks 2 (OT)

That's no excuse as well. Play the system and chemistry should be no issue. Maybe I just think that because the Wings of the past the lines didn't matter. They could be shuffled all game long and people still did their part right, Players out there are making stupid mistakes way too often. Also our captain out there looks like he is skating in slow mo, hell Yzerman on one knee looked faster. -

For freak sake, the Wings look so disorganized out on the ice it is sickening. What happened to the skill the Wings possessed? Blaming it on the cap is crap. -
No rafter for him. Twice he showed he wanted to do his own thing. LA Times:

Good, we don't need another lazy "maybe I'll show up" player on the roster. We need to get away from these players.
-
I would cry like a school girl if Yzerman shows up.

Should Pav and Z play on the same line for the majority of this season
dragonballgtz replied to Red Wings Addict's topic in General
I'm not sure. All I know is both of them need to score a lot more this season. They cannot be mid 20 goal scorers this year and expect the others to pick up the slack. -
Looks like something else as well I'm fine with 2 and the above quote. 1. Needs to be 50/50 3. I like that players can leave at 28 years of age. That's their true prime and should be able to get top dollar if that's what they are looking for. 4. I think 3 years is fine. Just get rid of the stupid rule that a guy at 21 cannot become a UFA if they do not sign with the team that drafted them (Schultz) 5. I don't see this going away.

Looking at hockeydb doesn't look like many late round picks have been big contributors yet. The only one that stands out is Andrew Shaw for the Hawks. Red Wings prospects are picked to be good in 4-6 years unless they completely WOW the organization.

As much as I want Bert off this team I don't think he is as slow as some people make him out to be. At times it looked like he could motor out there.
-
HELLL YEAH!!!! He might have size but he doesn't use it.

The only time I thought E would become a top guy was during the 09 SCF that. His play during that series was spectacular against the Pens. Of course he was playing with Lidstrom but the guy showed signs of becoming a great all around defensmen. If he was to come close to that level of play again he could be our top guy on the back end. But sad to say

With PHX below the cap floor no way they get rid of his contract.

Zach Parise agrees to 13-year, $98-mil deal with Wild
dragonballgtz replied to Tim.D's topic in General
These two signings won't make Minn dominant. That team has other issues they still need to address. I for one am not hating on either of these two players. It's their lives and they can do what ever the hell they want to do. All this does is put a lot of pressure on Holland. Now teams can ask for a little bit more in return come trade talk. Depending on the PHX owner outcome Kenny should go for Doan. A 2 year $10M contract, we have money to spend. -
signed Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr

signed Red Wings Sign Mikael Samuelsson to 2-yr, $6m deal (w/full NTC)

Wasn't signing Sammy the joke around here for awhile. Instead of getting the top line guy we need Holland would bring back Sammy as the big signing. What type of minutes did he play when he was moved to Florida? If he got top line minutes to hit 13G with the Panthers I don't think he will hit that mark with us next year. -
signed Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr
dragonballgtz replied to Tim.D's topic in General
And? That's Tootoo career high so far and his second highest was 18 points. Helm has already hit 32 points in a year and his lowest so far in a full season was 24 points. Again, Helm says hi!! -
Jordan Staal traded to Carolina, signs 10-yr, $60m extension

$2M cap hit increase. No way in hell is this guy worth $6M. -
I hope EDM fans don't expect the world from him right away. Kid might be good but with the way this has played out those fans might be expecting way too much from him so soon. Ducks must be pissed that they are losing a prospect so soon and they won't get anything in return.

Valtteri Filppula - we should get him locked up as soon as possible
dragonballgtz replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
I would hope Kenny doesn't re-sign Flip until the upcoming mid season. Kind of see if last year wasn't just a career year and he goes back to being on the bottom end of top six player. If he is on pace for another 60 point season come mid season $4.5M is the most I would give him. The only possible way he gets more is if he shows he can perform at that same level if not better without Z or D on his line. And I personally don't think he has the ability to hold down the second line without another top end player like Z or D. In other words he doesn't make the other players around him better he just completes a line. -
His lack of work ethic is what I don't like. If he played like he gave a damn, and this goes for a few other people on this team, I would want him back. If the Wings get Semin, which I hope not, then you can only sign him for as long as the Wings think Datsyuk can anchor him. With D being 34 at the start of the season the longest I would sign him for is for 2 years.

who's on the outs if we sign multiple forwards?
dragonballgtz replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
I agree. Eaves and Helm together is money very good 3rd line -
A very streaky player like Hudler can leave. If he is scoring then he is helping out if he ain't scoring he is a waste of space. No speed, no defensive play, lack of strength/size, poor work ethic, etc. His streaky play is part of the problem not part of the solution.
-
I would sign Doan to a one year deal and overpay him. We have the cap space to overpay him for a year and still have space to get other long term needs in as well. He might be getting up there in age but he is exactly what the wings need come playoff time.
