That's exactly what I stated in my post.... Not sure what you are getting at....?

With the thin market for forwards this summer, Heatley would still be one of the best available if he got bought out. I wouldn't be surprised if he saw offers of $4-5mil a season.
-
I haven't been so quick to expect him to be bought out yet. He's certainly not playing up to his salary, but was still on pace to pot 25+ goals in a full season. I could see a team that has the cap space but might not have the best chance at signing him in the open market, make a trade offer to Minnesota for him. Teams like Florida or Edmonton come to mind.

Interesting, although I doubt it's anything substantial. I think Paterson is just in GR so they can get a good look at him since they didn't have a training camp and because Saginaw is out of the playoffs in the OHL. He'll probably go back to Saginaw for one more year next season. It's doubtful that Coreau is in Detroit to replace Gustavsson. Probably just to give them an extra goalie to practice with for the rest of the season. He is slated to take Pierce's place as #5 since Pierce isn't coming back next season. McCollum will probably re-sign for one more season just to give the Wings some organizational depth before Paterson signs.

Oh Boy. Most of the players you have named as potential replacements for Bertuzzi, Franzen and Samuelsson won't be attainable without severe overpayment. I don't think Holland will make any significant moves this summer, except maybe a UFA to possibly replace Filppula if he walks for more money. I also doubt he will use any amnesty buyouts. Someone pointed out the buyouts of McCarty, Hatcher and Whitney in comparison, but that situation was much different. The Red Wings HAD to shed some salary to get under the newly imposed salary cap, and cutting the contracts of an overpayed oft injured bottom 6 forward, an expensive dman who had missed lots of time, and a top 6 forward who didn't make much of an impact were necessary moves. The only possible buyout I can see could maybe be Colaiacovo if they don't see him as being in the top 5 of their dmen. However, they could probably get a return for him in a trade if they put him on the market in the offseason.

Actually, it expires at 12:01AM on deadline day, which is before the deadline.

Trade Huskins to Flyers for conditional 7th rd pick (2014)
DSM replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Where did you read this? I read on some Philly news site that the Wings get the pick if Huskins re-signs with Philly for the 13/14 before Oct. 1st. Wonder which one it is? Regardless of what the Wings get, the deal is good for both sides. Wings open up a spot on the roster by unloading a player taking up a spot that probably wouldn't have seen much (if any) action for the rest of the season. The Flyers on the other hand, have recently been hit with an injury bug on their blueline and get a serviceable 3rd pairing dman. For Huskins, he gets a shot at auditioning for an NHL job next season by getting into some games. I doubt Holland will make any more moves right now, even though the Wings still have one extra player on the roster. It'll probably be Nyquist getting re-assigned since it sounds like both Franzen and Samuelsson are good to go for tommorow. -
Doubt the Sharks will be willing to trade him to Wings seeing that we let them get within 1pt. of us in the standings.

Dreger: Wings 'very interested' in Bouwmeester *merged*
DSM replied to b.shanafan14's topic in General
I didn't read through this whole thing, so forgive me if someone has already said this... My worry would be the price. After getting somewhat fleeced in the Iginla deal, I wonder if Feaster will ask a kings ransom for Bouwmeester since he doesn't really need to get rid of him. -
Colaiacovo being in GR on a conditioning stint still counts against the 23 man roster.
-
I think Holland will probably stand pat until Wednesday. The 23 man roster limit gets lifted in right around 96 hours (12:01AM on trade deadline day). If he has to, he can re-assign Nyquist and Lashoff for a couple of games since Samuelsson and Colaiacovo are ready to play, Then, he can bring them up on Wednesday and he won't have to risk losing anyone. There's also the possibilty that Franzen gets put on IR with this latest injury.
-
It might just be me, but I fail to see how a kid who has never faced NHL level talent is going to "upgrade" our "d"... We probably won't get him. I doubt that Holland and Babcock are going to guarantee him a spot in the top 6 after he signs.
-
Why would getting Dekeyzerman change Holland's shopping list at the deadline? I doubt Holland and Co. think that Dekeyser is going to come in and make an impact on Detroit's blue line for the rest of the season...
-
IIRC, he actually lives somewhere in Clawson too.
-
A friend told me that he can often be found drinking at a couple of different bars in the Clawson/Troy area... Not sure how true that is...
-
Back to the "Dead Wings" if Holland can't sign Dekeyzerman...
-
I just can't wait for this whole "Dekeyidstrom" circus to be over. I laugh when posters talk like this kid (who has never seen anything close to NHL action) is going to be a huge boost to the Wings for the rest of this season. Makes me wonder if any of them have ever heard of a guy named Ray Staszak...
-
This whole "list" thing with Iginla is confusing me. I read somewhere that he DOESN'T want to be a rental, which I guess translates to him wanting to go to a team that can re-sign him. However, most if not all of the teams on his list will have to make a serious roster shake up to re-sign him. ESPECIALLY Boston, a team that has $7.5million in cap space for next season to re-sign Rask and add 4/5 skaters and a back-up goalie...
-
Ottawa put Kaspars Daugavins on waivers as well...
-
I'm not really disappointed in this. From all accounts that I read, it sounds like this Sustr kid was really only getting attention because he is 6'8". His game apparently needs attention (especially with skating from what I read), and he probably wouldn't have been such a big deal if he was of average height.
-
Lol, they were probably just talking at the meeting because they knew each other when Bergevin played for the Wings in 95/96....
-
According to RedWingsCentral, he just got suspended for 4 games for too many majors. His coach wasn't happy about it either as McKee was in the box for three goals against. This guy is definately a long term project. The Wings don't have to sign him to an entry level deal until Spring of 2016 at the latest, and even if they wait till that long he'll still have 3 waiver exempt season to go down to GR. Hopefully at Western he can add some other tools to his game other than goonery. Like stated before, I too like the versatility that he brings as well. I read somewhere that he converted from wing to D and there's always the possibity that the Wings could use him as a physical force or enforcer up front.
-
I see what you're saying, and know who you are talking about. But I would say it probably wouldn't be worth it for anyone in Detroit to have any hope of seeing Selanne in a Wings jersey...
-
You're right on the money. If the Red Wings inquired about Gaborik, Sather would no doubt want Smith to be a mandatory part of the return. One or two other assets would have to be given up as well in the form of a good young roster player, good AHL/Junior/etc. prospect, and/or early round picks. Wouldn't be worth it in my opinion. We'd be giving up a Dman that has the potential to be real good for this team for many years, when the Wings really don't have any prospect dmen that are anywhere close to contributing at the NHL level anytime soon. I also doubt that Dekeyser and Sustr are any closer.... We'd get back a soft, streaky and injury prone forward that would reak havok on the Wings salary cap for one season.
-
And also what parts of the team would have to be let go to fit his $7.5mil cap hit for only one season...
