It will only happen if Kenny needs that 2.8 million in savings for the next two years to sign players. I believe Ericsson will finish off that contract and will probably be re-signed for a year or two for at least 750k to 1 million more than he should be offered. (I wish the last part of that sentence was sarcasm, but... LOL HOLLAND LOL)

Hey man, now that @DidSheahanScore is dead. We gotta have SOMEONE to harp on. -
Agreed. The real question of this trade: Is Duchene a clear upgrade over Turris? Via Friedman -- Turris bolsters the Predators down the middle and will serve as their No.2 centre behind Ryan Johansen. He heads to Nashville with three goals and six assists (nine points) in 11 games so far this season. The 26-year-old Duchene, has recorded four goals and six assists (10 points) in 13 games so far this season and has a career-high of 30 goals (2016) and 47 assists (2014). Career stat wise, while Turris has never had a 70 point season, he's seen plenty of playoff action and really stacks up nicely against Duchene. It seems that the Sens had no desire in re-signing Turris, at least not for what he wanted ($6x6 // insert Eugene Melnyk cheap meme) and you get Duchene for two years at $6 million to figure out whether he's worth re-signing. So, to me, it's seemingly a wash. ...but yeah, KR, Ottawa paid A LOT for that lateral move. Seems as if contract negotiations with Turris were not going great: http://www.tsn.ca/how-did-it-come-to-this-with-turris-1.906604

Quite the haul... who wins this trade?
-
Was either yesterday or Friday and there really seemed to be some traction on Duchene going to the Sens, but Codi Ceci was the player Ottawa didn't want to part with...and that nixed the deal.

I thought this deal was dead? https://twitter.com/FriedgeHNIC/status/927317872187138048 Guess it's back on.

Who?

Pouliot was the defenseman that was rumored to be part of the trade for Sheahan. He was traded to VAN for Andrey Pedan (Minor league Dman) and a 4th rounder in 2018. https://www.nhl.com/news/pittsburgh-trades-derrick-pouliot-to-canucks/c-291535724

Please remind me. What were the previous offers before this lengthy standoff?

I feel sorry for those that might be in denial about a distinct possibility of a Hawks/Pens SCF. -
Snow didn't want to be outdone by Milbury so he HAD to buyout Yashin after signing DP to AN EVEN BIGGER DEAL. lol. 2029 is the end date for that DiPietro contract payoff.

So HSJ is taking over for @DidSheahanScore this season?
-
@DidSheahanScore needs to get lost and stop trolling... He did. He's got the last goal scored in the Joe, no? Put "preseason" in place of "practice"in the infamous Allen Iverson tirade and we've got ourselves something right? So stupid.

Holy s***, where you been bud. Missed you so much! *fartnoise* -
I just wanted you to confirm it before someone says "kr doesn't believe that the Wings have been drilling defense defense defense into their players." ...and for the record, I agree. There needs to be a balance. While we shouldn't let anyone slack off on defense to the level of some the aforementioned players/superstars... this notion that every forward also has to be some sort of defensive machine atop of being an offensive stalwart is stifling our ability to score goals. Hell, some of our forwards are better defensively than some of our defensemen... and that's a big problem.
-
...but you're willing to admit that that's exactly the expectation of most Red Wings players by coaching and management. Also, please, no Drew Miller talk. It will break my heart either way.
-
Fixed it for you.
-
Ken Holland certainly doesn't think so. 'specially with all that Mrazek s*** talking.

To me the letting Filpulla go is more of a "Why didn't we flip Filp at the deadline?" rather than "Why didn't we re-sign him?" ...but that's the nature of being a "contender." Keeping those pending UFAs for the playoffs and then losing them to Free Agency. ...but if you know he had no desire to come back, then it truly is a question of why didn't you trade him??
