Maybe Tavares and the rest of the Isles can convince him otherwise. The team, despite what people believe to be true, is making strides and new ownership is right around the corner. Also, he could be traded and extended by a new team as well before he ever hits free-agency. I wouldn't put it past Snow to trade Boychuk/his rights if it doesn't look like he's going to re-up with the Isles. I agree that it's a little early to be so high on him.

I hope that 8m+ for Boychuk is some form of sarcasm on your part as well. Jeeezus! As for being the top UFA of the upcoming class, well... he's certainly off to a good start for the season, but it's pretty early. He could be extended before we even get to free-agency. So let's not get too excited about that.

Reminder -- while Wang is still the primary shareholder, the Isles have been sold to new owners. It's a three year transition, but you've got to imagine that they're headed in a new direction... and Snow is going to want to keep his job. So, the acquisition of Boychuk and Leddy is good for the present and the future of the Isles. Even if they only keep one, it certainly helps the blueline after the loss of A. MacDonald, and in the year prior, Mark Streit.

How long before Eakins is on the hot-seat? Even with all of the shenanigans of last season (jerseys being tossed on the ice, etc.) they seem to have him on a really, really long leash.

...and then ppl will complain about him. It's the nature of the beast I'm afraid. Goals are scored. Sometimes they are scored by the other team. Sometimes the ones scored by the other team are because of direct mistakes made by our own players. Sometimes goals are scored because of mistakes made by the refs. ...but they are scored nevertheless. What we need: More goals scored by our players. Whether it be even-strength, power-play, short handed; on the backs of our skilled top lined forwards, or ground-out by our fourth line. It's that simple. The defense, nor Jimmy, have been as horrible as some of you think... and the offense isn't pathetic by any stretch of the means, but we need to get some more pucks on net and we need to get them to go in.

While Ericsson did have that horrible mistake that led to Boston's only goal... he did redeem himself in the third by directly making a play that killed a good scoring chance for Boston. I pointed this out in the GDT last night. It's so much easier to remember the bad plays over the good, but lets not pretend that game in/game out players don't make mistakes that sometimes lead to goals. That's just silly. I'm in agreement that throwing out two veterans in favor of two rookies is silly as well. We're not so shallow on defense that we HAVE to do that... so why should we? I want to see a rookie come up and get some experience, but not at the expense of games early in the season.

Wideman is a guy that a few years ago I really wanted on this team. Thought he would be great for the defensive transition years. (Moving on from Lids, Rafalski) He's struggled since moving to Calgary, but is that any real surprise to anyone? Anyway, we'd have to move both Kindl and Quincey for me to feel comfortable taking on Dennis Wideman's 3 yrs/5.25. I'd still have a problem with a guy making that much money on our third pairing but that's probably where he'd line up. I hate that Q makes as much money as he does, but that's the going rate unfortunately. I'm still of the mindset: Let's see K and Q string together some "Solid," "Hey, No one can really complain about that gigantic gaffe," "I'm pretty much non-noticable because I'm not ******* up back here," types of games. ...and then we can realistically talk about where they're going other than the waiver wire.

Rangers lose Boyle for 4-6 weeks with a broken hand in their season opener... but it's probably a little early for them to panic and make a move. Hell, unless they've already been looking.. it's probably a little early for ANY team to make a move. I think we're going to be stuck with him until Holland decides to waive him. Then, and only maybe then, will we see a team have any interest in Kindl.
