I have read that Alex Ovechkin is available and was also remembering Kenny's comments about how if we do anything at the deadline, it will be an "impact" player. Also, we have Pavel Datsyuk who we presumably want to keep around here for several more years who might find it intriguing. Many believe A.O. may need a change of scenery, and lord knows that we as an organization love reclamation projects. I would propose Fil, Franzen, one of Tatar, Nyquist, or similar, and a 1st. We shed the necessary salary (based on what we would likely pay Fil if he stays) and Washington gets 3 capable players to help them rebuild their team. I am hearing San Jose has been working on something, but how many times have we heard something like that, only to have a different team come out of nowhere and swing the deal. I realize all of the many ways that this seems somewhat far-fetched, but I wanted to see if anyone else thinks this or something similar could be done.

Major trades have always had their own threads here as well. Its not like I started a thread for Jussi Jokenin. Maybe next year we can have a clean thread with news only.

I don't feel like sorting through all that BS. Maybe if the thread was reserved for breaking news and deals only, but it is full of rampant speculation and flame wars.

I was trying to think of what would be excellent thread titles for April fools jokes related to Red Wings/ NHL topics. Since such threads would lead to banishment (rightfully so) I though we could post them here in a responsible manner for entertainment value. I remember 10-15 years ago a Detroit radio station started an April Fools about the Wings moving to Windsor. I believe they even got Darren McCarty to call in and play along. I remember being absolutely devastated. People were calling in a talking about destroying all of their Wings gear. Anyone remember that?

Those little s***heads ruined my vacation to Columbus last weekend. :-( Had 4th row seats at Nationwide surrounded by wings fans and we just sat there in disgust.

Osgood is Jimmy's predecessor. He is what most most people compare Jimmy to. It is fair to point out that if Jimmy is being called average around here, it is comical that those same people think Osgood was among the best goalies of all time. (Using the 401 wins argument.)

How is this thread still in existence? The same people who bow at the alter of Osgood are calling Jimmy average. Talk about a catch-22. Had we jimmy Howard on those 90s wings teams, I feel like Scotty would have had to start putting rings on his toes.

Even though they lost the game, Rafalski's game 5 goal is my favorite goal/ celebration. The look on his face is joy in the purest form. Still gives me chills when I watch that game.

The game is on NBC and TSN.

I noticed at the game against the Wild there are what to me seem to be new restrooms in the upper level above the main concourse. They look brand new and are huge. Good going Mr. I. Sure took long enough.
