Brendan Smith is having a HELL of a game.

I thought the Wings played pretty good up until the third period. That was MUCH better than last year's first game. For most of the series last year, it looked like the Wings were just barely hanging on....and they still managed to push it to 7. If Wings can play this well for the rest of the series and can get some decent goaltending, they might be in good shape.

Zetterberg is no longer the heart and soul of the team? What games have you been watching? Zetterberg has played amazing so far and he and Larkin have both been our best players. Giving Larkin the captaincy would be a wrong move for both Larkin and Z. Kid doesn't need that pressure. Legitimate or otherwise.

Thank you very much for this!! Just got 3 tix! Super excited. Was originally going to get the $270 seats, but I opted for the $230 because they were higher up. Not sure what the view would be like down in the 100 sections when it is off on one end of the rink. Officially excited now!

Despite the loss, Mike Green and Nyquist have both looked better and better each game.

I was at the game. As many have already said, terrible first two periods. I thought Larkin looked a little out of place in the first, but once Blash switched lines in the third, his line was clearly the most dangerous. I think Blash needs to keep Larkin at center. It's clear he is more comfortable there. I thought Nyquist looked 10x better tonight than he did all preseason. Hoping him and Tatar can get a couple over the next few games to get things going. Also, the Defense is SORELY missing Danny D. I think having him will help iron out some of the big defensive wrinkles the Wings currently have. Canes deserved that game, and I felt bad looking at the scoreboard seeing 42 shots to 20, and the Wings up by 2. Anyway, a win is a win!

Anybody have any idea why Jurco was benched? Also I thought Nyquist had a sub-par game until the third. Zetterberg had a bad night. Lucky to get a point. Looking forward, I think the Tatar Sheahan Jurco line could make or break the team.
