well after tonights scores it looks like one of the 2 wild card spots is the best we can do. Both Tampa and the Habs are 4 games clear of us. Still think 6 wins from the last 11 will get us in.
-
which in away is showcasing what we have. If we wanted a settled side for the run in we wouldnt be calling 3 different guys up to have a look. We should have gone with one of them right till the end. Pilks got 3 games Ferraro had 4 Toots canme up for 1 and now Callahan. Just seems a little odd to me, espically like people have said when we are in a tight race for the wild card. On a side note young Marc McNulty has been called up to the Griffins.

happy with a point and lets face it when we went 2-3 down who honestly thought we'd get back in it? Next season upgrade on the bottom pairing D, either we keep Q and make him a 5/6 guy with E and sign a top 2 guy to partner Nik, with DeK and Smiffy as the 3/4 pairing. Marchenko as the #7. Up front when all are fit to play just a top 6 power forward and we should have a good year as long as we dont repeat the injury records we set this year. The next 4 games are going to make or break our p/o push.

Wings just need to take care of their own business and its in their own hands. Beating both the leafs and habs this coming week will be a big bonus.

i bet he said his name a few times when he did it

the thing is if we make the playoffs we'll want Pav and Z back on the ice if possible. I would like the front office to shut them both down and let them heel up for next year, where i believe we will be in a much better position to have a good year. I think that they have told Weiss that he should call it a year already and get healthy for 2014-15.

with all the kids getting better with each game it'll be interesting who sits when the injured guys start coming back. Do we have a limit on the cap still or is that now lifted. I can only presume that Jurco, Sheahan, Pulkkinen,Ferraro and Emmerton will go back to GR's and maybe Glendening stays as Babs likes him. To me Sheahan should stay up because him with Gus and Tats can be a dominate 3rd line for us. Hopefully they can keep going and get us in the post season when most of our injured guys should be back. At the end of the day the kids have done great, but when you have the guys we have out it could be any other teams top 2 forward lines.

Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd

im sure Kenny has said that Tats Gus and Riley are the 3rd line for next season. Which makes interesting decisions to be made for the 4th line for sure. Glendening is a Babs fav for sure so its going to be fun for sure. -
for the second game in a row the Fwd with the most ice time is.............Miller who would have put that on the betting slip. Great win lads just gotta do it again at the Joe tomorrow.

With Mantha winning the QMJHL scoring title this year, who was the last Wings prospect to do the same in the Q or the OHL and WHL, thats if there has been one. I think Keith Primeau did it in the OHL back in 89-90 but im not sure if anyone else has.
-
bad advice by his agent i would guess. RH shot badly needed on the top 6 for the Wings, he would gotten enough chance's with Detroit. He asked too much for his 1 season and the Wings went and got Alfie at more $ yes but Alfie's record speaks for itself. Brunner should have seen the long term goal instead of short term gain. As long as he's happy in Jersey i guess thats all that matters.
-
as a side note the Preds called up Calle late yesterday. So it only took the Preds 5 games to think that Calle is worth a shot, good for him i say. I dont like losing any of our top end prospects but in the circumstances I can see where Kenny was coming from. We are deep at C and if we re-up Leggy to a 2 year deal then i think that it will all even itself out.
-
after listening to Kenny today it seems that they are high on Sproul, Ouellet, Jensen and Marchenko and it would appear that the likes of Lashoff Kindl Quincey and maybe Smith are playing for their future in the run. although i did detect a certain hint on re-signing Q !! Looks like only Kronner, E and DD or untouchable on the D. I would still like to see us go after a genuine top 2 guy.
-
moving Smith to forward could be a master stroke by Babs, maybe even as good as Scotty moving Feds to D ?
-
Id sooner Holland let Marchenko step up and give AA a chance than re-sign KQ on any sort of contract.
-
rumors on other sites mate, one stated from the same NCAA team as Campbell. but then again could be just rumors started by some disgruntled fans.
-
anyone know who the top ufa D man in the NCAA we are supposed to be after?
-
ive seen him play a few times in the K and he is a solid guy. i heard somewhere that if Pav wasnt going to make the Olympics then this kid was lined up to take his spot. Im all for getting more kids in the line up, they gotta high alot of upside thou of course. we arent a contender, so why not let the kids grow as a team over the next 3 years or so with the help of half a douzen vets as we dont want to go the Oilers way. We could use the surplus of forwards this would create to get that top D we need.
-
finished 5th overall in the O in scoring and 2nd in goals. When was the last time the Wings had 2 ( Mantha) such out and out goalscorers coming thru and at the same time. These are big guys to, they wont have them both on the roster but what chance one of them makes the Wings next season.

GDT 3/14 GDT : Edmonton Oilers 1 at Red Wings 2 (F/SO)

a huge two points but until Smiths bonehead play that not even a pee wee would have played we looked fairly comfortable. I hope a refocused group are up for the task that awaits them in chitown -
List in earnings order Nicklas Kronwall $4.75m Kyle Quincey $3.775m Jon Ericsson $3.25m Jakub Kindl $2.4m Brendan Smith $1.262m Danny DeKeyser $0.925m Brian Lashoff $0.725m List in scoring order Kronwall Gp 62 7+33= 40 +1 DeKeyser Gp 58 3+13=16 +6 Smith Gp 53 3+12=15 -2 Ericsson Gp 44 1+10=11 +7 Kindl Gp 51 1+10=11 -12 Quincey Gp 64 4+6=10 -7 Lashoff Gp 57 1+3=4 -1 List in Toi order Kronwall 24.13 Ericsson 21.24 Dekeyser 21.08 Quincey 20.35 Smith 18.16 Kindl 17.53 Lashoff 14.44 Make what you will of that. I was bored and wondered how they stacked up against each other. But one thing that stands out is we sure need another Top 2 guy in place before next season. We have had at least 3 D men with over 20 + points for the past 8 years (except strike years) and 2 of those had over 30+ pts during that period. Maybe DD will hit the 20pt mark this year as well as Kronner but it sure does flag up our problem area.

my biggest concern is that although the Oilers are bottom feeders they are a really good skating team, and if we dont match that we could be in for a rough night. Best of luck to Teemu, hopefully he'll get a chance to let that boomer go a few times. -
I see Kindl is the odd man out again tonight against the Oilers, writing on the wall?
