Wings & Yandle twitter-rumors? Believable?
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
Hope he's right about Yandle. Seems like a bird though, kinda think he's Pierre McGuire after what he tweeted the other night -
Who is your favorite player from a team besides the Wings?
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to CaliforniaWingsFan's topic in General
Claude Giroux/Mike Richards -
Howson is an idiot. Columbus will be in the toilet of the league for the foreseeable future. Great that the central is weakening so much, hopefully Stan Bowman does something really stupid now to really help us out in terms of Central seeding.

Bouwmeester opinions? Potential trades? *merged*
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to jroc86's topic in General
I'd love it if the price Feaster would ask for were realistic. But it won't be because he's an ego maniac, I can envision the conversation starting with "Ok Ken, so how about that Nyquist kid, oh and that Smith kid." Bouwmeester, despite his redonk cap hit, would fill the void of Lidstrom about as well as we'll find at this point. 6'4, elite skater, needs a change of scenery like it's going out of style. If not for Feaster as Calgary's GM, I think this could happen. As it stands, probably not going too. -

Certainly Babs has to be disappointed with how things have turned out, because he's been begging for a bit of help talent wise for a few years. But I don't think he walks, I say if guys like Iginla, Perry or Getzlaf get to market next year then Babs will be able to lobby a bit harder for them. In the mean time his task is to make the Wings play a grittier game, and get the most out of young players (Nyquist, Smith, Brunner, Emmerton, Mursak) and guys needing to step up (Quincey, Ericsson, Gustavsson, Helm, Abdelkader).

With cap space to clear, do Flyers become a Wings trade partner?
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Yzerfan1999's topic in General
Coburn or Mezsaros would be wonderful. Doubt Holmgren wants to break down his defence after Weber signs, because it would be one of the best in the league. -
Disagree. Chelios was a dirtbag who used to cheap shot Yzerman, and on occasion goad him into fighting. He was traded here and became a fan favorite. Drake was a cheap shotter early in his career, and big time in St Louis, and yet when people talk about the 08 cup they always mention Drake's physical play. Tootoo will be fine, and a good addition to the very, very soft line-up we had last season.

Red Wings make "helluva" offer for Nash, no response
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to stevkrause's topic in General
Howson is nuts. If the Wings rumored offer didn't get it done, and the Sharks and Rangers offers couldn't do it, then Nash isn't leaving. The Jackets will be a forgotten, joke of a franchise forever until they figure it out. -

Of course not, the personal messages you'd send once you figured out would be enough to have them take you off the ignore list in an instant. -
Now, I truly realize that people want to write off Pittsburghs series vs Philly as a fluke, but at the end of the day it wasn't. The Flyers were an average team, and theyf****** lit Pittsburgh up for 6 games. Yes, they have Letang and that's wonderful and everything but after that? Martin? Yeah, the guy they would've dealt to the Islanders for Garth Snow's loafers if they could've signed Suter. Michalek? Nope, traded back to Phoenix. Brooksie? He can't skate, and is less of an offensive threat then Ericsson. I get that they have Crosby, Malkin and Neal, but there defense is nothing to write home about. If Doan is looking for a "contender" then sign in LA then. Because Vancouver can get bent, The Sedins, Burrows and Kesler are disgraces to the game. Diving is disgusting, I'm glad the Wings lack in guys that do that s***. Do they have a star studded defense? Uh, no. Garrison? Hey the guy had a big year, don't get me wrong, but he's no #1. Bieksa and Hamhuis are a great pairing, but not a true 1-2 matchup. Edler is good, but no better then Kronwall. I'm the absolute farthest thing from a homer, but christ boys and girls. The Wings are not the worst thing known to the earth like some make us out to be. (Not directed to the poster in question, but an observation) Cool, we didn't get Suter and Parise because they wanted to play together in some no talent market. Who cares? There not ours so move on, Doan is a viable option and the Wings would be the one team who could seriously use his attributes to get to the next step. We've been missing the crazy, do anything to win spirit for years. Doan brings that, and leadership, and goal scoring and so many other things. He's the perfect fit. Discount the Wings all you want, I've wanted more grit for years, I've wanted a more aggressive approach to the offseason, and we got that. We can't control that Parise and Suter don't want to win Stanley Cups, nothing we can do. All we can do, is watch a "written off" team possibly sign one of the more feared power forwards in the game, STILL compete for the Stanley Cup, and take a huge run at the true FA gems that can turn this team into the media darling it once was to get the fan boys (media, talking heads, morons etc.) back on board. Yes, I'm talking about Weber and Getzlaf/Perry wearing the Winged Wheel next offseason.

How bad are we if this is our finalized roster for the season right now? Still a much better team then the Minnesota Wild (I realize I shouldn't bait the trolls, but christ almighty they've been raising hell and somehow still don't look at their defensive depth chart and realize even WITH Suter their defense pails in comparison to ours sans Lidstrom and Stuart )
-
Glad to see some optimism around here. I also believe Smith is going to have a monster season, put this guy next to Kronwall and give him significant PP time, and the sky is the limit. He's one of the most overripe prospects in recent memory, and the last time we had a guy like that he got a Calder nomination..
-
You can't compete for real for the Cup when your defense looks like Suter-Gilbert Spurgeon-Scandella Stoner-Falk/Kampfer They'll be improved, but they are not cup contenders. And as down as everyone is right now, the Wings are still a better team then the Wild. As are, LAK, CHI, SJS, VAN, STL, and PHO(for now). So they'll be in a fight for 6-8th in my opinion.

On a one year deal I'd be happy with Semin, playing with Datsyuk and having Babs and Renney in his ear he could do some great things. Semin and Doan would be ideal, then move out some forwards in a deal for Yandle or whoever. Still alot of options for Holland.
-
Woah, Doan's agent called the Wings asking for an offer? Man, I don't care about age, if we can get Doan I will be estatic. Adding him and Tootoo, and having Kronwall on the backend could make us one of the more feared teams in the league.

Ryan Suter agrees to 13-year, $98-mil deal with Wild
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Ozzie30's topic in General
Disappointing. The pressure is now on Holland and the staff to rethink the offseason and get creative. On defence we have a #2 (Kronwall), 2 #3/4's (White,Quincey), solid #5 (Ericsson), a budding star in Smith and then Kindl. We have to find a way to get a #1, or at the very least another solid #2 and hope for Smiths growth to come alot faster then expected. Up front we added a bit more size in Sammy, and some good grit in Tootoo, but we could still use some speed and goal scoring. It'll take an arm and a leg for Nash, and even though he's my #1 choice, it just doesn't make sense to sell of assets for him when defence is our biggest need. Will be interesting going forward. Also, the Wild are still not a "great team". Very good top 6 forwards, not so much bottom 6. Decent top pairing (Suter-Gilbert), after that nothing. Good goaltending, they'll be 5-8 in the West. We're still a better team at this point in time.- 252 replies

Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Definately understand the age concerns, but Doan is an animal. He should be an exception. Plus, with signing that many players we'd have to move some guys maybe add youth that way. Plus, if we don't have to lose valuable assets as opposed to player dumbs via trade, then Nyquist would stay with the team.- 487 replies

If we get Suter for the 6.9 cap hit, and then turn our sights on Doan and could make that happen (granted Parise goes elsewhere), boy would I be impressed with Mr Holland.- 487 replies

Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I understand these are people's lives and the rest of their hockey playing careers pretty much, but 3 full days when you knew in advance what the money, term and likely suitors would be should be enough. The media is making these guys out to be drama queens when they really aren't, all the same a decision one way or the other would be nice.- 487 replies

signed Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Tim.D's topic in General
I love this signing. Tootoo is one of the meanest players in hockey, the fact that we have Bertuzzi and Tootoo on the same team is wicked. I have a feeling this season players will think twice before running ours stars, because they can, finally since the 2008 season, get it back even worse. Well done Kenny, Sammy is meh... but this signing is gold. -

No thanks to Colby. He'll go back to Pittsburgh and play with Crosby and try to restart his career would be my guess.

Hahaha, Calgary get better each year. 5.25 mil a year for Wideman? Enjoy his 6 PP goals and -30 +/- rating.
