Red Wings sign D Trevor Daley to 3 year, 3.166m/yr contract, includes NTC/Modified NTC.
MabusIncarnate replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I don't hate it just because I remember how bad our D got last season after injuries, and it's not fun watching your squad embarrass themselves night after night while our goalie gets peppered with shots from open players. At the very least, Daley is a serviceable defender who gives us one more somewhat reliable player on the back end. -

Please don't post in all caps like a kid that just caught his first Pikachu in Pokemon Go. I don't see much use for Daley outside of veteran leadership and helping us possibly squeak into a last place playoff seed for a first round elimination. Maybe they are in the mindset of at least making playoffs again temporarily for the sake of the new arena. I hate to be bitter like this, but it's just how I honestly feel right now. We need to focus on youth and development, see what we have and who will be in the roster long term. -

They are stacking up on D aren't they? It seems like they have more defense than forwards. -

I think not protecting Marchessault was the biggest mistake out of all the teams. He was fantastic last season, he's young and has a pretty low cap hit. -

I'd take Sbisa personally. -
The big key here is Fleury both waived his NTC, and also publicly stated that he knows Murray is the future and has all but said he KNOWS he's gone this offseason. He's a cup champion, a veteran with excellent composure and apparently a good team player and locker room presence. I think it's as close to a lock as we can see. I think Barrie is exactly right in them taking a very low cap, quality backup elsewhere. No part of me right now believes Mrazek is taken, but i've been wrong before. If I was a betting man, i'd put my life savings on Fleury going.

Glad i'm off on Wednesday, i'll bring the beer. Should be a fun night here, i'm looking forward to it.

I don't disagree with that point at all honestly, I think players have a certain amount of time to be given a chance to prove themselves, or we stop sitting on them. Unfortunately players like Jarnkrok (Who is valued enough by Nashville to be on their protected list) and Frk didn't get hardly any opportunity with the team to determine their value. A lot have been pretty bad draft selections also, players didn't pan out and it is like throwing those picks out the window. Obviously not ALL players are going to turn out the way you want, and what they are thinking when they draft them, but comparing to the past, yeah, we've been in a drafting rut here.

This exactly, I think there's a very, very slim chance Mrazek is taken after the season he had and these three available for the taking. My bet goes on Sheahan being the player we lose, and that doesn't really hurt my feelings too much.

I don't really like any of this, respectfully. As Dickie said, it's very well predicted that Fleury will be in Vegas, he has already waived his no movement clause for what I feel like is anticipation of the inevitable. I think Laine has as good of a chance of being dealt that Ovechkin had in his young years, absolutely untouchable. He's the future, and the kind of player a team like Winnipeg needs to go forward and build the franchise around. Blake Wheeler would be another Nielsen situation on this team, I don't think a lot of people were familiar with Nielsen before he came here and how good of a player he really is. Problem is, he's aging and declining, the team around him isn't as talented, and it becomes harder to produce on an offensively impotent team and it reflected in his numbers. I think Wheeler would be a similar situation. And honestly, Sheahan can go for all I care after last season. I think I watched 70 regular season games last season and besides the very last game, I saw nothing out of him that I wouldn't mind losing.

So many memories growing up in this building, so much history, joy, and passion. Onto the next, a new foundation to build new memories, dynasties, and Cups. You've been good to us JLA, you will be missed. Bring on the new era, and let's have a better season next year and break in the new facility properly! LGW! -

Just got in, looks like the boys are holding their own against the Hawks. Howard has been pretty solid from the looks for it? I was expecting a first game back implosion from him.
