Discuss and debate our goaltending situation here. Should Mrazek be going full on right now, starting all games except back to backs? Is Howard being overused? Or should Howard's early performance be reflected on his playtime and does Mrazek need to earn his spot as the undisputed number one for the Wings?

So today apparently Blashill pulled Mantha off of the PP practice unit in favor of, guess who? Mr. Sheahan. I don't even know what to say anymore. If Mantha is off the PP and Sheahan is on it tomorrow night my mind will officially be blown.

Clearly our boys had a nice, cozy all-star break with minimal effort to improve their game. Very poor performance all around, not much else to say. Playoff hopes keep slipping away with every lazy, unorganized game.

A lot of people seem to entirely neglect this fact also when this situation comes up and still insist on it being a lack of effort from Holland. Exactly as you stated, it was Minnesota or NJ for Parise. There was zero chance of him coming here when it was finished, he didn't want to be here, and Detroit was never an option. Holland could have offered absolute maximum and it still doesn't happen. I never understood why this never sunk in with a lot of Wings fans here. As for Abdelkader, sure he has 4 goals, but he takes a lot more stupid penalties at seemingly bad times and should never be in the top 6. I still take him over Sheahan though.

Just tossing this out there, Parise this season - 39 GP 8G 14A 22P and a minus 2. I think LGW would be rioting if mister 11 million per was scoring at a half point per game here. Suter has hardly lived up to his contract either when you consider what guys like Burns are doing for their team on an 8 mil per year contract and Minnesota has done a whole lot of nothing in playoffs since gaining those two.

I didn't even know this was going on to be honest, I don't really pay attention to this weekend too much anymore outside of tuning in for hardest shot in the skills competition, maybe a couple other events.

Ask Shocky if there's a Corsi for that.

In sports, there are men and there are Gods. I can't put Yzerman in the same category as either Lidstrom or Zetterberg. What he did for this team, the memories, the championships, it was just magic, and now lives on as legend.

This is where i'm at right now also. I get the logic that you are only as good as the team in front of you, and also if you aren't scoring goals you aren't winning games. That shouldn't take 100% of the pressure off of the netminder. Coreau faced double the shots last night with the same result. Of our 3 goalies, Mrazek has been our 3rd best, and I don't think there is much denying that. Some people forget about pace and momentum, and how flattening it can be when a goalie lets in a weak one or two and what it does for the player mentality on the ice. It's mentally challenging on top of everything else. Coreau has played half the games, shut out 2 very good teams, and had a excellent performance against a great Rangers team also. Mrazek has yet to steal a game for us, or show up that strong. He isn't playing like a goaltender trying to secure his starting job and keep it, he's playing like one that's given up hope on the season. Regardless of our current standing, you can't do that. Tonight was a prime example of where I feel like his attitude is.

Helm keeps extra lead in his gloves in case of nuclear threat. I'd take Quincey/Polak over Ericsson/DeKeyser right now.

That's exactly how it looks like he's been playing on the last two goals against. I don't blame him to be honest.

Not that it matters when we score no goals, but last two, especially THAT last one need to be stopped. Coreau seems to have the bigger body and is much better at squaring up to shots like that, which is why I think I feel a bit more confident with him. Mrazek never seems to take up enough space in front of the net, or needs to work on his angles and come out a bit more. Like I said though, 2-0, 3-0, 4-0 is a loss either way, just an observation.
