Smith shouldnt be traded for anyone hes our only solid offensive defenceman. Let alone for eberle..... eberle is one of my favorite players but we would be getting owned here. He is being pushed out the door by edmonton fans, which should be saying something. Also, with regards to howard: Mrazek is almost without a question our future goaltender, but gustavsson is good for maybe 15 games a season, otherwise hes hurt. Do you want to run a tandem of Mrazek + Mcollum with our skeptical defence? We would get lit up. Bad trade ideas.

Lol. Heatley? On the 1st line? That would be the slowest line in the history of the NHL. an ex 50-goal scorer only got offered one contract, at 1M for a reason. Hes terrible now. If anything, maybe a 3rd line sniper every other game or so. Iggy would have been a good pick up but he was never an option for us.

Yeah I agree, No way I'm trading Smith at this point. Eberle is one of my favorite players but as a team that may lack a superstar Dman in the future, Smith has all the tools to be that. Plus we have a glut of forwards already. Smith has easily been our most improved player so far, and is our only defenceman next to Kronwall who is any sort of an offensive threat.

Weiss has some value, so take him out and add andy miele and we can get sam reinhart and theyre 1st for the next 3 seasons

I think you may have taken the comparison bit out of context. I stated that florida shouldnt have a team. All i said after was that other teams theoretically have been saved when facing hard times. Obviously florida isn't as good of a hockey market as pittsburgh, but pittsburgh was facing relocation talks as early as 07. Some even talked about relocating chicago. Historically, building a good team can save a franchise. I'm not saying a good team could save FLA because they're team already isn't that bad.

Yeah im reluctant to give up any of our top forward prospects, especially for a D. Its looking like in the future we'll have one of those stable D's that has above average guys top to bottom, which im okay with. Its going to be more difficult to replace dats and Z in the coming years then it is Kronwall and...... Quincey? edit: To me, tatar is untouchable but I may be biased. Ive been following him since draft day so I have a definite soft spot for him since he was drafted the same year i was eligble As previously mentioned, Jurco has untapped potential albeit probably 50 points but is as close to another dats as we'll ever have when it comes to stick handling. I had initially thought nyquist was gonna be a big bust this season, but hes looked phenomenal.... could easily be our next Z IMO. Florida actually isnt all that bad. Yeah they arent contending for a cup, but they can make the playoffs any given season. Its clear that there is no reason for that city/state to have a franchise. All other struggling cities that were in the same situation were saved by a draft pick or two. Pitts: Crosby/Malkin Was: OV CHI: Towes/ Kane TB has their previous cup run to back them up. Also Stamkos is as elite as they come I don't see any players of these caliber coming into town for FLA. But hey, tank for mcdavid?

Id like to see Cleary and Weiss shipped for Crosby and Malkin
